Hey LGM!
I watched through the trailers/teasers and it looked darned ambitious to me :) I've done a fair share of experimenting with filming, and I know how extremely hard it is to get even a minute's worth of movie to look acceptable. There's so much in the procedure; casting, acting, directing, sound and light setting, editing etc, and everything needs to work perfectly together. So kudos, for pulling it all off.

You need to clarify what you have done here. Did you model the soldier? Did you draw the background?

From a sausage party last saturday. Pity none of the excellent sausages can be seen in this shot...just wanted to upload a pic, it was so long since last time...

Nice one LGM. I just see before me some kind of filling colour within the frames to make them stand out a bit. Or maybe re-arrange them, so that the don't appear in a strip. Right now they look a bit like the instruction folder in an airplane, if you catch my drift.

The best, most useful advice you can get at this point is to redo the scene and get rid of the lighting effect. This is simple trial and error. Sometimes the only way to improve something is to redo it.
If you haven't done it by tomorrow, I'll do it for you.

Steel drummer, first of all, don't quote entire posts with pics and all if it's not necessary. Secondly, try to get into the topic of the conversation before posting.

Just for the reference, norse gods are very closely connected to nationalist (often extremist) groups in scandinavia today. Sadly. If you would have a poster or a t-shirt with Tor, Oden or Balder on it, you'd be branded a racist immediately.
Arguably, fully equiped metalheads, with the typical long unwashed hair, black leather tights and a two tons of nails, shells and chains attached to their clothes can get away with such symbols and still pass as non-racists.

Ouch! Stay away from filters and lighting effects! Create your own highlights and shadows! Exclamation mark!

I'll provide more substantial c&c when you have fixed that

You need to work or study something regularly in order to keep up the discipline with your creative outlets...chances are you'll just slack around otherwise and not get anything done. It's all about finding and using time well.

I've always worked with people....done it all, nursing homes, day care centers, centers for handicapped people, personal assisting, camps for socially challenged youngsters, camps for mentally challenged youngsters, then all levels of teaching, from first grade to highschool.
I've hardly set my foot in a "business", although the times I've tried it, I enjoyed it too. Never done the good old telemarketing though, and I doubt I ever will...I sincerely hate telephone salespeople....

General Discussion / Re: Saddam Hussein

Obviously, killing Saddam like that is a huge political mistake. Instead of letting him grow old and pale in some jailhouse and eventually rot away, they gave him a quick dramatic death, like that of a dangerous prisoner of war, too dangerous to be kept alive.
They even gave him a chance to utter a grand last remark, that people can quote forever after (although american media hasn't manage to properly translate it).

If you view that movie, you see a dirty torture facility, crowded with hecklers. In the centre you see a man who is apparently not frightened, he stands with his back straight and he refuses to put on the hood. Before he dies he chants that islamic stuff which every faithful muslim should say before he dies.
This is just one big pr-stunt. I can't believe how people can sit back and murmur "well that oughta teach 'em something! We suuuure nailed that scumbag now!" Apparently, they don't understand that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Saddam and his followers.

Now, I naturally find the whole spectacle extremely disturbing, and I'm disturbed how people can watch this and consider it a good solution.
To quote Riverbend: "After nearly four years and Bush's biggest achievement in Iraq has been a lynching. Bravo Americans"

Rince, amen there bro'.
Also you might add that it was made by Lars von Trier, one of our greatest contempory directors.

Is there an actual gameplay? Seems like all you can do is fiddle with some settings.

"I don't agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"
that is my mantra
That's silly, because you most likely wouldn't risk dying. Most people who talk like that, realise that they wouldn't even risk their pinky toe to defend freedom of speech for all those millions of people in numerous countries in the world who don't have it.
Sorry, just in a cynical mood right now...

The first dune was an adventure/strategy hybrid, and a rather weird one also. If any game should be credited for the real-time strategy, it should still be that one, even though it's not full-fledged, so to speak.
The reason I mentioned the 007 game was that the authors of that articled apparently hadn't come up with anything innovative with it either.
"Innovative" for me is something rather ground-breaking, but I guess it could be used very broadly.

First of all, great topic!

Maybe also take a look at the Game Innovation Database

Quote from: Game Innovation Database websiteThe goal of the GIDb is to classify and record every innovation in the entire history of computer and videogames. Because we could never complete this daunting task alone, we have made the GIDb an open wiki, allowing anyone to easily add innovation entries for the benefit of everyone who cares about the history, study, and practice of game innovation.
The intention might be good, but so far this site is pretty awkward....they list Dune 2 but not Dune,  even though the first game must be credited for being more innovative, and they list half a dozen James Bond games, though none of them are particularly innovative.
