General Discussion / Re: New Comp Idea - 3D

Please discuss in the stickies in the competition board if you have ideas.
Best is if the purpose of your proposed activity isn't already - partially or entirely - covererd by other activities. You can have a background blitz with 3D as a part of the theme.
Colouring ball is basically sprite jam "light"; a shortcut around the initial step of creating a sprite, and beside its, imho, fundamental flaws, it never caught much attention anyway.
In the meantime, participate all you can in the current activities.

ManicMatt; when I saw that picture my first reaction was "oh, he tied that fire extinguisher to the door handle. Quite a prank!"

If faith helps you get through the night, then fine. If you use faith to justify actions against other people, not fine. If you use your faith to prove another person's faith wrong, not fine. If faiths prevents you from seeking a method of explanation that is closer to us, more wordly, more practical, more human, not fine. Many things need to be viewed and investigated by the tools which we are granted; the mind and the senses. To circumvent this system of investigation with truisms, grand phrases and quotations from the scriptures is just a sign of laziness and negligence. I'm not saying we must be scientifical or logical, I'm saying we must start with trying to explain things around us with terms that are compatible to ourselves, to roll up our sleeves and really dig into the problem with our own sore hands, and perform a labour that we can be proud of afterwards.
If you, after this meticulous spiritual research, reach the conclusion that you need a diety somewhere in the far end of the cosmic thread we're clinging onto, then fine.

An interesting scientific fact is that, theoretically, you can use next to no energy to create information, but to forget HAS to take energy.(i could be wrong, read that in a hard sci-fi book, as well a book on quibits and information theory) So...who knows, it may mean nothing.

That sounds quite wrong actually. As for Gandalf.... okay.

Well in an information theory point of view, it's sort of a correct way to think. What consumes energy is not to take in information, it's to get rid of the disinformation.

The nazis have been mentioned, and still the thread can carry on undisturbed!
This community is progressing!

The technique is very personal and it's well performed...however, I don't find it very interesting. Basically, it's the lack of expression; most interesting portraits convey some sort of feeling or attitude. This woman displays no emotions whatsoever, except for some kind of "I dunno, and I don't care" attitude.
But again, very nice technique, great colours and composition.

Hm...Evil...is it a teenage boy's back we're looking at? That's the most shapeless women I've seen

Allright, moderators will discuss this from now on. We're grateful if any further posts in this thread avoid the Skyfire-issue, lest the thread may be locked.
If you have pertinent information regarding the case, PM a moderator.

So, where were we? Oh yeah, Ghormak sucks.

I don't contribute to debate/argument very often, because I often feel I don't really have anything worthwhile to add.
Well you don't, which is why we're all glad you only post 0.5 posts a day.

Nice work!
If you look at a close-up of the face, two things might need editing; her ear is positioned too close to the eye/front of the face. Try moving it back/up a bit. Also, her nose is too much to her right (i.e left in the drawing). Apart from those details, good work.

Like this:

...only the edit needs to be performed more carefully than I did it...

Polemics is important, because it trains us as communicating beings. Without a need to defend your thesis, the thesis will not develop. Even if people don't seem to change after a heavy debate (even when they have "evidently" "lost" it) people change more than you might think. They may not admit it immediately, of course.
I think several people here have changed since I first met them. In some cases it's because mine and their opinions have moved closer to eachother; in other cases it's a matter of not agreeing but respecting, and understanding their reasons for not thinking as I do.
For instance, Helm and I might not have become so good friends if we hadn't had the disagreement of the century some five years ago. Darth came out as a much better person in my eyes after our first few arguments. Nacho and me have to rinse the air every other week, it seems :)

So yeah, just avoiding arguments like the plague will leave you quite unchanged, and will just bury the bad spirit inside of you.
Then again, just flame-baiting for the sheer fun of it is inherently bad, and will in the long run make you socially excommunicated. So flaming/trolling = bad, arguing/debating = mostly productive.

Good for you. I'm a big fan of Jethro Tull. I was at the concert in Göteborg a couple of years ago, which was great, except that Ian's voice had deteriorated a lot since his great days.
Aqualung, Thick as a brick and Heavy Horses are some of their best albums, for people who'd like to give it a shot.
