LJUBI, you have to deserve attention, you can't force it out of people like this.

Now try to figure out something important that you can put in your threads in the future.

Khrismuc is correct, which is very satisfying to a perspective-whore like myself.

I don't know exactly what Evil was trying to show though. The original picture is correct as far as the system it uses goes; the problem is that it's not using a very good system.

As Khrismuc pointed out, draw the viewpoints further apart, and make sure not to draw any angles less than 90 degrees. This is achieved by drawing (or imagining) a circle whose width is determined by both the viewpoints. Nothing outside this circle should be drawn towards any of the viewpoints.

At first I was gonna write my c-level thesis on Graham Greene, but heck, maybe I'll just go for DG's haiku instead.

Could you whip up a four stanza heroic couplet on Rharpe as well? That's iambic pentameter with rhymes.
Thank you.

And this is the person who just got nominated for best debater.
We're quite a sophisticated forum after all.

Sorry if I went off on a tangent there, but I'm just trying to explain how people generally find it easy and comfortable to explain away things they don't understand as phony or nonexistant.

I thought the easy way was to just believe in it. Trying to explain things by logics and reason is quite a tedious and not very romantic task.
I'd much rather live in a world where people could sporadically read eachother's thought, and where everybody believed eachother all the time because everybody just told the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

It was difficult for me to reject the skeptics society
Which society is this, pray? Hasn't the term "skeptic" - ever since the ancient days of Pyrrho - been used to loosely describe a kind of personality? You make it sound like a very homogenous group of people who have a local office in your town.

That's all I have to say though--there is plenty of scientific evidence showing that hypnotism is effective--though the past-lives and repressed memories stuff is highly questionable.

Repressed memories is one area where hypnotism has shown to be the most effective. Now, being a skeptic myself, I must add that I don't believe in the sort of hypnotism that makes Uncle Scrooge give his lucky coin to Magica De Spell, or, for that matter, that stuff TerranRich is doing to his girlfriend.

But as a psychological routine, carefully supervised and by mutual consent, it is widely used and accepted.

What? I refuse to go to Lapaset now! I never knew Finland was such a terrorist-ridden country. Well I never!

I.E. Becky! She is a 17 year old that is now defending this behavior... she's only 17... I'm sure there are people that are even younger.

That's extremely condescending, and I think you owe Becky an apology.
I've met Becky and she's very mature and thoughtful, and strikes me as a person more able to deal with things of this nature than your obstinate narrow-mindedness will ever allow you to be.

it's now Everyone post cracks at rharpe time.
It seems to be that time quite often. You can do something about it, but you sort of need to realise it yourself. Good luck.

Terran, I find it strange that at the first sign of scepticism shown in this thread, you turn overly defensive and upset. What did you expect? A person starts a threads stating "my girlfriend says I can read her thoughts etc" and you expect everybody to go "woah, that's awesome!!".

We don't know you to that extent. Just because you've been around a lot doesn't mean we know all about your personality, to which degree you're likely to exaggerate or misinterpret situations of this nature.

A certain percentage of a population are notorious liers. I could be one, Eric could be one, you could be one. A mytomaniac for all we know. One thing we can be sure of is that we will never know who's the mytomaniac, because that person is probably a very credible one.
In an environment like this, we all need to make calculations, statistical estimations. Don't trust anyone blindly, that would be foolish.

Now for my personal opinion; I didn't believe you when you said you could hypnotize people, and I don't believe you have the ability to read anybody's thoughts, or at least not in a supernatural fashion. People here have explained that words can be guessed, sentences can be finished and moods can be detected by people who know eachother very well.
But telling a number between 1 and 1000? Again and again? No siree.

If you spend time with the community while it grows, the size probably won't affect you. There will be sub-groups, and you will find that you don't need to know all people just to have a position.
If you leave for a long time and return, the increase in size will probably discourage you a bit, yes.

For me I guess the deeper relationships I've established with certain members - through quite a few real life meetings by now - have become increasingly more important than knowing just a huge quantity of forum nicknames.

Right now I'm in a period of rather low activity, so I might sort of miss out on the current debates and events for a while.

Hehe, I remember that. I was about to compile some sort of ags history page, and asked a few of the "oldest" members to write some stuff about certain periods.

It's a very nice essay, I recognize so much about it.

The second pic is certainly more adventure-ish, and overall a very cute background.
The boat looks flat, but is still properly drawn perspective-wise, and that's simply how things can look sometimes.

As a response to Helm's comment about perspective points, you claim that your previous background indeed had only one viewpoint. However, this is what makes it slightly erroneous. Only a central viewpoint can allow for perfectly parallel horizontal x-lines, as this is how far you can trick the eye to believe that any lines can be parallel.
When the viewpoint is situated so far toward one side, you need to implement another viewpoint on the far other side, at which all lines along the other axis will converge.

While the first background has a dramatic perspective, it's slightly unnatural and therefore a bit stressful to look at. The second background is much more calm and harmonic, but also very traditional.

Sorry mate. It was long since I misplaced the demo itself, not to mention the source-code, with roughly fifteen rooms and heaps of scripting.

The gui's look faboulous. I'm all for that old-school nintendo interface where a gui could frame the entire screen with just loads of small details and silly buttons.
I'm not sure the draw-away-attention argument is very valid, since you learn to look away from the gui after some very short minutes. It's not like you would miss information in the background because you were busy inspecting the inventory icon.
As long as the colour-scheme suits the backgrounds and blend in well, it's not a problem to me.

Darth is correct, but since 99% of all people fail to use filters correctly, I just advice them to ditch them altogether.

Painting your pictures with only brushes will maybe consume some time, but it's time well spent.

I'd rather not change my last name, as I happen to like it very much. It does give me problems abroad, of course.
Foreign people seem rather persistant in their disability to pronounce "Ljungqvist" correctly.
It means small branch of heather, by the way.

Elliot, people aren't making a fuss or complaining, they're just discussing what could be a nice change (it is logical to vary the banner after all, considering AGS has so many games to showcase).
New ideas don't bite either.

It's interesting that people who liked Bush tried to perform an identical Google Bomb (very original thinking) but failed.

Anyhow, it's really old now.

I dont think your number is working, really, as I got some sort of error message when I tried dialing it.
My number is 07999 028 205

I'm free after seven tonight. If you still wanna meet up, just give me a call or write here or whatever.

Hellllooooooo!!!!

I have arrived in Brighton, and yeah I recieved your number Yufster. And I have a new number myself, so nobody here could have helped you :)

Everything has worked out splendidly so far, I found a cheap youth hostel just a minute's walk from the coach stop, and by coincidence, the only other guest in my room (even though it is a room for ten people) is a girl who studies my course. Even better, she had been here before, so she guided me around town and showed me the way to the campus, etc.

Together with two more classmates we're gonna search for a house to share. We have allready been out and become drunk together, so I think things are progressing fine.

The course seems rather demanding, and by afternoon today I have to analyse Lycidas by Milton and even learn parts of it by heart. The professors all seem like characters from some Harry Potter movie.

We Swedes study together with the Sussex students, so we have to really prove ourselves worthy and ask smart questions. The majority of the Britons are girls around 18-20,Ã,  and they are all very small, which creates some sort of high-school atmosphere.

Over all, my first impression of Brighton is great, there are pubs and clubs just everywhere, the weather is similar to Gothenburg's, but slightly warmer, and people seem generally outgoing and relaxed.

Over and out!
