Nik, please refer to the discussion threads, or the tutorial one.

CL thread-starting is for published material only.

And yes, I'm sure many people would appreciate such an effort :)

Fluke, I asked to see some efforts.
Some of your own, home-made material that you could publish in this thread and thus justify its existence.

This thread is just a poll about font-preferences, and as such it does not qualify.

Now don't chat your way out of this. Just show us something we can work with here.

There are obviously mixed opinions on this, but I'd say the sun is shining too brightly, making the flare seem like a cheap effect.

The problem with having something shine that brightly is that other objects in the foreground - like the big spaceship - would lose practically all values and remain a black body with only a bluish lining on the top.

Furthermore, the blue gaseous areas are too defined, and look like some sort of textile applications. Make them way softer, blur them, twirl them and have them just barely visible.

Lastly, the space station isn't very good. Right now it looks like someone tossed out a toy which hovers in the foreground.
Try to make it blend in with the background more, make it less plastic and more like the giant structure it is.

The biggest issue is the mixed perspective.
For instance, the ground is in a central perspective, whereas the counter and some of the buildings are drawn in an isometric perspective.
Consistency in this department is cruical.

The second biggest issue I can spot is that the foreground shape (which is very big and prominent) blends in with the distant skyline, which makes it confusing to the eye.

This thread is just a poll about font-preferences, and as such it does not qualify.

If you could at least take the step to creating the actual menu/logo or whatever, you could publish a few versions and people could vote.

And no, that wouldn't be a waste of time, it would make excellent practice for you, to go through the process and see the varying results.

Next time you start a thread, show us that some efforts have been done.

This has been asked and answered to many times. Use the search function and type "paint program" in the search field.

Flukeblake, just to clarify; flame-wars are tiresome, pointless and everybody will be annoyed with you and wish you were somewhere else.

Thanks for elaborating my joke, Super, but couldn't you have made that last one just a bit cornier when you had the chance?

I still don't really get it, but he sure is polite

This is Darkelf's chance to create some 13 threads and make the last one "Who'd you rather date?"

Heck, I bet you five dollars Zooty would feel pretty darn silly then!!

Let's not make a hen out of a feather now. Shitar is apparently too young to give useful input in a thread like this, but please don't shift all the focus onto him.

QuoteFor the last couple weeks, my girlfriend had been showing signs of moodiness, fatigue, and extreme cravings.Ã,  She was also 2 weeks late.

You guys might want to have a double check on that.Ã,  As far as I'm aware, symptoms of pregnancy are not generally noticable until later on.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

He hasn't really stated the date of conception, right?
If it was late September, she's had plenty of hormone-changing time.

Anyhow, a couple of months sounds very brief considering you went from strangers to potential parents, so I can only deplore your decision not to protect yourselves better. Or maybe you did protect yourself and were unlucky, that can happen the best people.
Sure, parenthood and raising babies can be wonderful, but after two months you know nothing about how well you'll be able to stick together and take care of this baby.

I'm set on getting myself at least three kids, but I will not think about it before I've finished my education and got a good job. I think a couple of years of learning to know the mother-to-be is also on my agenda.

It's good that you admit that you still have growing up to do. Not everybody is realistic about that. Our generation is much less mature than our parents and grand parents when it comes to family-matters (my great grandfather moved out and started working by the age of 14; at the same age I still played with lego), and getting kids before you're finished with being a kid will detract important attention from the kid.
Then again, 23 isn't such a terribly young age, so you'll just have to face the music, start saving up money, take care of your very young lassie and never smoke indoors.

Haha, this tells a whole lot about education today.

I think the hand needs to be more stylistic and less realistic. Right now we see all these wrinkles and textures and details and it just doesn't strike me as a typical logo design. Maybe just a silhouette?

The hand itself is awkwardly posed, and has the looks of a hand which is trying to make as much noise as possible, not to make an elegant little snap.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Underwater background
Mon 19/12/2005 00:11:11
I think before you start pondering on how to achieve an underwater feeling, you need to work out the basic architecture. Right now, it's actually hard to understand what you're looking at. It seems as you haven't really figured out the structure yourself; rather just drawn some disconnected shapes and hoped for the best. No offense :) It's a promising piece, but there is much to do.

Ok, I started out a bit out-of-topic in this thread, but as a moderator I have to ask people to abide to forum policies and only post relevant c&c in the future.

We had our fun, let's not sink too low now, ok?
