Just whipped up a "guest" entry. As inspiration I guess, I don't know really :)

x2

2 hours, photoshop with pen tablet.

You have to imagine the "Aerodiner" sign, because I don't have the time to make it.
Also, excuse my crappy plane. I have no technical insight in the structure of an airplane :)

That is... beautiful... Let's see what loominous and andail come up with!

I'm hosting this particular session, so I won't really be able to participate.

But then again, I guess I could make an entry just for the heck of it, even though I won't take part of the competition itself.

There have been really good contributions so far, I'm very proud!

I think it's very pretty! The style is very cmi, although you've managed to add a touch of something original to it. It's got a very personal and atmospheric style which is funny and appealing to the eye.

Obviously, you need to detach the character sprite if you want to use it as a background.

Right now, the image is pretty flat, in the sense that is has no colour depth. I keep nagging about this in every second c&c I write, but it seems very few people grasp this technique.
In order to create a depth, objects and surfaces further away need to be less saturated, and more affected by the colour of the sky.

Kinoko, great retorts, now can you please try to make yourself just one bit more obnoxious?

I'm not sure it can ahieved, though, after that "you need some sense of humour" comment, along with that *sigh*.

Seriously, there isn't a trace element of respect for you left in my body at the moment.

Jesus, I don't get this at all.
Needless to say, I guess, I like Lennon's music, I respect his political standings and I think he was an extra-ordinary person when he lived.

His death was a huge tragedy which affected just so many people.

Now, what I don't understand one single bit is how some people choose to defile a tribute thread like this with just hatred and insults. Seriously, if you don't like Lennon, or his music, why feel this urge, in this particular moment, on this particular date, to be a complete ass?

Sorry if media doesn't focus on your particular idol. It's not our fault. If you hold Pantera dearer than Beatles it's totally ok with me, but what can we do about it? Not every death gets the same amount of attention. Incidently, my uncle died on a date not far from today, also 25 years ago. Nobody cared about that.

Rharpe (who is, for the record, supposed to be a good christian), way to shit on somebody's grave. How the heck can you say that Beatles have had a generally bad effect on people for 25 years, when their music was mostly about love and caring? With all the crap bands we have today which preach nothing but hatred and bad behaviour, how the heck can you stare yourself blind on beatles, of all bloody bands?
Since when is it a good christian's duty to trash-talk dead people? This is so hypcritical my stomach aches.

Kinoko, sometimes it's cool to be provocative and all, but you're just being rude and insensitive for no reason. As I said, this isn't at all about peope having different tastes when it comes to music, but it's one thing expressing your disagreement and another thing being down right bitchy. You show a disrespect for human life that can only be matched by your predilection for kittens.
So, please stay out of this thread, just away with you, cause this really means something to me, and I refuse to see a person who cared for love and peace being connected with that crap attitude of yours. Sorry.

The Wiki was setup by AGA and some of the moderators. Righ now there are mostly technical issues, but anything that has to do with our community goes there.
The old dictionary is also slowly being remade and put into wiki-articles.

It's progressing nicely, but I think I'm gonna help you skip a few steps and make some drastic changes (and hopefully improvements).

The brushtrokes are fast and sloppy, and you need to redo them yourself, in a manner that you think would fit the style.

Basically, you need to bring together all details, blow them up and make them overlap eachother. To have tiny objects spread out in a vast space isn't very appealing to the eye.
I have also cropped the image to get rid of unnecessary and boring surfaces. You probably need to resize it to fit your desired resolution.
Good luck!

Funny, I get these nursing home vibes when you people speak of the old days.

Remember Harold? Oh, what became of him? I think he joined the navy. And Ethel, do you remember the grand tea-parties she used to throw? Well, I heard she married a gardener. Etc.

Well, I'd rather have a whole forum full of DGs than no DG at all.

I was gonna joke about Eric's anatomy, but he's simply so muscular and tanned that I couldn't find any insult material.

* Crop the bg. Nobody is interested in all that ceiling.
* The door and window are too small and positioned too low. Have you ever seen so much wall between the window and the ceiling?
* Change the colours. Only a swiming pool in a hospital would have those wallpapers and floor!
* Change colours depending on lightsource. Some walls are bound to be hit by light more than others. Try to work out a light and colour scheme.

Hey, Uku!
It's a nice sprite, and I'm sure someone can eventually animate it for you. However, we try encourage people to make at least one attempt by themselves, before asking someone else to do it for them.
Use one of the many tutorials around, make an attempt to animate and show the result here. Then people will gladly help you.
Good luck!

And to spare the lives of more kittens...

It's a very intruiging and original story, but it's a tad too little gameplay for me, and too much story.
Still, great photo, great music, great atmosphere. Good job!

PS:
The whistle song is nice (the theme song), is there a clean version without the background noise, pray?
#3175
Evil, just a little note; if that table of yours is supposed to be circular, the bottom quadrangle (with a cross in it) must be square. As much as your version looks pretty square/circular enough, would you mind showing some proofs that iit's drawn correctly?
That is, that the square/circle is drawn the proper length z-wise.

I know the answer, I just wanna see your take on it!

Terrible. I woke up so sore and hurt in body and soul I just decided to stay in bed, and miss out a day in uni.

Hm, Eric, I'd like to write some words in my own defense here. The forum won't collapse from some serious arguments once in a while. I do think that this can be talked out, and locking it before giving that a shot will create very strange vibes, I must say.

Joseph, I'm sorry that I caused you so much frustration. I wouldn't have posted if I had known how sensitive this was to you. So, my apologies for that.

Still you have to realise that some things can't be yelled away, or even argued for that matter. If people have a certain image of you, be it one you don't agree on, you can only begin to slowly and steadily work to achieve another image. I'm sorry if I have an image of you that you don't agree on, but the best thing you can to is to accept it, take some wisdom from it and carry on.

I was making an honest observation because I felt it could help you understand Helm's argument. I expressively said that I didn't side with Helm just to stand up for him; on the contrary, I think that he was being a bit rude and hostile.

Now, a few more things.
Firstly, threads develop. You were the one who started it, with a certain topic. It was also you who made a wishlist. So the current course of this thread isn't so much off-topic as threads generally get around here.

Secondly, I'm not retarded. I have worked with retarded people, and I don't appreciate the term being used in the careless and immature manner displayed in your posts.

You are eager, well desperate, not to fit a certain image. Just be careful with the image you're now portraying for future ags-members.

Anyhow, sorry again for the immense frustration my post caused you.
I believe that this thread can still live on without damaging the community spirit too much (even though it's soon christmas), and I hope that people who are allergic to arguments can perhaps look away. I for one believe I have made a pertinent and important reply.
If other moderators think it'd be better to put the lid on again, I will not re-open it.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Good backgrounds so far!
It could be a good idea to add a blown up version of your bg.
Use
Code: ags

and it'll be represented as twice as big.
#3179
I have to admit that when I saw that Joseph DiPerla had started a new thread, the first thing that struck me was "There's that guy who've come a few times a year since the dawn of ags to make request lists for new ags functions."

I don't wanna sound like I'm dumb-defending Helm or anything, or add fuel to a fire that has already died. I just find it a bit ironic that when it comes to this trend of showing almost complete absence apart from a sporadic wish-list every now and then, this thread doesn't constitute an exception.

No offense, it's just an observation, no criticism. Good luck with that simpson game, btw.

General Discussion / About video compression
Thu 01/12/2005 18:45:30
I've been editing film using Premiere for quite some time, and I'm rather proficient with it. However, I can never manage to render material with both good quality and low size. What compressions/codacs do you use?
How can ordinary full length movies be around 700 mb, and still look almost perfect in quality, when small clips I save reach several hundred mbs and turn out crap?
