Why use rooms for close ups, it always bugged me as a no-no. Primordia used one room for close up, and I'll always be marked for life. I believe number of rooms 60 or so.

I probably wouldn't use separate rooms if I didn't have to… but in 320x200, there isn't much you can fit on the screen anyway. For instance, there was no way I could fit the whole table of elements into anything smaller than the entire screen, so using a GUI wouldn't make much sense. I mean, using a GUI that covers the entire screen instead of a separate room would be more a matter of principles than anything else.

I don't think it's particularly good form to erase all one's messages in a thread, at least if you don't make it clear that you retract whatever you argued for.

In the light of that, I can only assume that Dualnames has conceded that the sexist jargon and jokes need to be toned down in the future, or someone else will have to arrange and host the award ceremony.

Nobody - regardless of their commitment and devotion to the community - can be completely above criticism, not even CJ himself.

Too many members, both old and new, both male and female, have expressed their dislike for the jargon and imagery present in the ceremony this time for this issue to be dismissed or brushed aside without permitting a proper discussion about it.

Maybe we could finish this discussion here now, and if necessary discuss sexism and gender stereotypes in the general forum.

This attitude (insolent, if I may say so), just costed us the lone developer of the AGS Awards game (and previous MAGS organiser, blog writer, etc.). Can you say you two were more active in and for the community as he has been?

I really hope that wasn't actually a reply to my post, Bicilotti, because it doesn't make sense in a number of ways.

Looking good, Dave, couldn't have done it better myself ;-D

Jesus Christ. A few people ask you to relax a bit with the sexist jargon and now you're pulling this enormous Yahtzee?

You're all stressed and worked out by this ceremony, man. Take a few days off and cool down a bit.

Congrats to all the winners, and of course especially to the Heroine's Quest gang :)

Interesting, Vince, that such a big game uses quite a low amount of rooms.

I counted the rooms for TSP, and it has 48 unique locations that a player character can move around and operate in. Another 3 are fully drawn and have walkable areas, but no player control. Another 5 or so rooms are sceneries or background images purely for cutscenes. Then a handfull of non-location rooms (close ups and interiors) although most puzzle close ups are handled with guis. Then a couple of rooms for splash screen and credits. 67 rooms all in all.

A third of the locations have day/night variations, bringing up the total amount of image files necessary for the rooms to well over a hundred, although ofc many of these are just variations.

I think the legs should extend more; they're too bent now and I'm missing a frame where the heel lands and the toe points up. He's also turning his head unnaturally. You usually don't look from side to side like that when you walk.

Nice, will check this out!

Yeah I'm a bit ashamed. A lot, actually:-[

Cool, this might actually mean I can finish this game. I never liked the original interface.
#473
Really impressive-looking. I haven't got a feel yet for the actual gameplay (like, what is the player actually doing?), but really pretty and funny nevertheless!

The weird part is how Doc hasn't aged at all. Hm, makes you think...
#475
Yeah, this is like the only Kickstarter campaign I've seen that mysteriously got funded just in the nick of time!!

Perhaps unlike Andail, I don't consider moving a thread to the Rumpus Room a matter of punishment or demotion, but simply of correct classification. I do think that's where this thread is most suited, though, so...

Hey, what's up with the accusatory tone? I love the Rumpus Room! Seeing how this is the only AGS forum where people actually talk, being moved here should be regarded as a promotion, an honour even! :)

Good news, CaptainD!
With so much talent on board you're headed for success :-D

Would you like to include some sort of statement or argument or at least a link to something we can discuss?

Or I'm moving this straight to Rumpus

It was the best AGS irc live ceremony test party I've ever been to!

Pretty stupid; selling something worth 150 bucks for 75000 surely qualifies as some kind of fraud, and will make him appear dishonest.
