Critics' Lounge / Thumb issue...
Fri 24/09/2004 20:15:58
Ok, this is an early scetch of a hand doing a 'thumbs up', shown from the 'owners' point of view. I'm planning of using it In a cutscene in my game, the thumb is going to press an thump-print-id-access-lock-thing, but does it look like a hand to you? I think that somethings looks a little odd, but i cant put my finger on what...

Critics' Lounge / Clothing issue
Wed 18/08/2004 20:16:32
Ok, so this guy, Agent Murdoch, works for FATE
(Federal Agency for Time Emendation) He travels to diferent
times to prevent or see that sertain things happens,
to insure that the future turns out as it's supposed to do...

Now to the issue: should he 'change outfit before he travels,
like entering a wardrobe, or should i use a more futuristic
way, where he automatically changes clothes while travelling
trough time, so that the new outfit will be a (embarrasing)
surprise to himself when he 'emerges' in the new time?

Guy to the left:Ã,  Ã, Ã,  "Oooh, Nice suit, mr SNOB!"
Guy in the middle: "Have you forgotten that we are the same person?"
Guy to the right:Ã, Ã,  "Why do I then have to wear this stupid Dungeons & Dragons outfit?"

General Discussion / A funny little poem
Wed 30/06/2004 10:33:54
A funny little poem I found yesterday...

Why are you sending me postcards,
when you don't love me no more?

I have no interest in postcards,
what are you sending them for?

I have no interest in places,
places that you like to see.

Beaches and cities and faces,
why do you send them to me?

Why are you sending me postcards?
What do you want me to see?

Or do you think all these postcards
proves that you're happy and free?

Or do you think I collect them,
thousands of postcards from you?

Yes, you must think I collect them,
but that is not what I do...

I give them to Morgan, my dog, every night.
He eats them and thinks that they taste quite alright.

He looks at me afterwards, thinking so sweet:
Why is she sending me postcards to eat?

I don't know, little Morgan, I don't know, I reply.
I don't know why she sends them, no I don't know why.

Critics' Lounge / CJ's Home

This is Chris Jones home. One of the missions in my uppcomming game FATE
(Federal Agency for Time Emendation) will take place here. Now I need some
ideas. Does your imaginary Chris Jones Have any else furniture than a computer?
Does he sleep on a matress, a bunch of newspapers or in a huge cardboard box?

Hope CJ does'nt mind being used in this game...

Advanced Technical Forum / Ugly text-aperance
Sat 05/06/2004 16:45:44
I use the 'standard' text-in-white-box to display non-speaking texts,
for example when the player looks at something. But the box looks ugly. I
t diplays an whole empy row beneath every text-boxÃ, like this:

----------
Ã,  TEXT

----------

(The----- is the upper and lower 'frame' of the box)
I've checked for row-breaks and so, but there is none.
I want it to look like this:

----------
Ã,  TEXT
----------

Any ideas?

The game is partly converted from an older ags-version

See if you know how to drive in Sweden. (Click the english flag on
the first page to take the test in english)  This is the Swedish national
road administration's demonstration of the driving licence theory test.

Does anyone else but me remember the game 'Futurewars'  aka 'Time travelers' ? If so, would anyone like to play a game based on such idea if I would make one? (Not a remake or a sequal, or not even the same story, but allmoust the same concept)

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Concept story
Thu 18/03/2004 16:24:07
Concept story:

Someone discovered a planet orbiting the star Altair (In Orion constelation, if you don't know where it is) The planet was named 2103-01. Somekind of probe was sent there, and discovered that it is suitable for an 'atmosphere project'. A base containing atmosphere processor and other gadgets was established. This base is manned by some kind of cyborgs (so they can live for the many decades it takes to set up an atmosphere and other vital stuff). A little later 200 'frozen humans where sent ther, and stored in cryo-chamers untill the planet (now renamed to Second Earth) is ready. The 'original earth is turned into coleslaw by a meteroite 5 times the size of greenland, those 200 humans are the only survivers, blah blah blah...

The player character is one of the cyborgs (But he is programed to think he is a human)

Suddenly things begins to go wrong. humans dies in the chambers, parts of the planets life-starting procedures fails, other cyborgs dies. Is this caused by bad luck, or have someone among the cyborgs 'gone bad'? This activates a little chip in your head, and you now find out that your janitorial duties just was a cover. You must find out what is wrong before the only surviving humans (That you think you are one of) dies.

But i don't know...

C&C?

My character walks wherever he wants. I have a at least 4-5
pixel whide area that is not-walkable,(Not filled with any
walkable-area-colour) but the character just walks across it.
It looks strange since there is a table in that area, and he just
walks right trough it.

Hov do I stop him from doing this? I can't make the
not-walkable-area whider, 'cos the room is not that whide...

Advanced Technical Forum / Light level?
Sat 28/02/2004 16:42:24
is there some sort of area-light-level that allso affects the background so that not only the character gets lit when he walks under the lamp, but the wall and floor allso is lit? (so that i don't have to make the area lighter in the paint program from the beginning)

thanx.

Advanced Technical Forum / previous room?

Is there any 'go back to previous room' -feature?

What sounds most 'dark and futuristic', if the characters in my game only is known by their last name, so even co-workers and friends call eachother names like Mr Murdoch, Ms Connor, and Mr Smith, or if the characters have realy odd names like Orion, Mira, Rigel, Altair, Spica, Deneb, Algol, Libra, Castor, and Pollux (Names of stars and constellations) I like the second concept a little better, but maybee I'm odd. But if anyone else likes the second concept, What would the hero be called? He goes under the working-name John, but that's a little boring...

By pressing the 'wrong' links a mean download started. I managed to clean most of it out from my system, but one thing is still stuck: When I right-click in the explorer-window, the shortcut menu pops up, but there is not only the normal paste, refresh, forward -stuff, but allso a 'Free porn galleries' -link that I can't remove.

How do I get rid of that?

Please help.

Critics' Lounge / Reactor-room (again)
Mon 19/01/2004 22:13:39

Here it is. Now I'll let it be. I tried to make every pipe and cable look like it actually has a purpose,
and not only are a part of some background. I put some characters in there too, so everyone can
see the propotions of this rusty, old, cheap-for-cash russian second-hand reactor used on the
high-tech Swedish-Canadian starbase.  The JPG-format makes it kind of foggy, but in the game it
will look better...

By the way: Ya got any ideas for a script, 'cos I'm still clueless...

Can I do that?

I know that I can use 'GiveScore (-10);' if the player buys something that
costs $10, but can I add something that displays "You can't afford that" if the
score is less than 10? It does not have to be fancy, just something like
'if score<10 display message, else Givescore (-10); ad inventory...'

Please help

Critics' Lounge / Larry fan-game: Garry
Tue 11/11/2003 20:43:39
Since I'm sick of making all those fiiine backgrounds and characters
for my main game I've put it on ice and instead plan to make a
old-time 320x200 larry-style game called 'Garry'.

The only difference is that this is going to be even worse ;)

The picture speaks for itself as it mainly is 'borrowed' from Larry...

C&C? Things you missed in Larry that you wan me to include?
