Watched for a bit, very interesting, and also nice to see some Paint .Net lovin'..
Pressing Enter key after drawing every line seems to actually frustrate mr. dkh, so I don't thing there's actual love there.

MUST
GET
GOLD
SHINY
THINGY
...damn, that actually requires making a game, probably time to do that after lurking the forums for more than 5 years.

Well you can use the scanner for scanning documents as well, not only for drawings, so that might be more useful.

Personally, after initial sketching with a tablet, if I'm in Photoshop. I more than often use just the mouse and pen tool, because it's more precise to work with vectors that way I think. I actually don't like that way of working because it takes a really long time usually, but I get the clearest results (without going into an actual vector program).
Sprites and low res backgrounds I think are faster to do with a mouse as well.
There's also 3d softfare you can use so you can paint over them or use the actual images, and that basically uses no tablet (unless you want to do sculpturing and such).

Can you paint really well in traditional nondigital techniques (like watercolors, pastel, pencil sketching etc.)? If so, then maybe a tablet would be useful.

Which two minions, Anian? I can only see Anna's and Tim's responses.
Anna kindly informing me that we will be able to click on things.  Thanks for that.
Ah sorry, noticed Greg Ricey (DF programmer) there as well. Maybe that's actually Tim poking a DFA assigned producer to work quicker. This is an interview from a year ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YAaEA6XOz0 (they planned on making it in 6 months, of course it'll be bigger than that since they got a lot more money, but still shows how much time they planned) so if there's still nothing made, it seems weird.
But in any case the tweet is oddly written and draging in 2PP just makes it confusing.

And yes they've been busy porting Brutal legend, but I seriously doubt they need that money for DFA, I'd rather think it was the other way around.

Hehe, I tweeted Tim and some others asking if they had any news/clues.  And got a response from the man himself.
Not a very useful response, mind you, but who care's! Tim Schafer replied to me. That'll do. :)
I know that probably a lot of people have been asking him about DFA, but there has been a lack of updates, so the impression I get from these replies makes him sound like a bit of a douche.
Not to mention how two of his minions joined in on what I can assume is immature mocking.  :undecided:

To be fair, Soulja Boy's Braid review is pretty spot-on. It is a lot of fun fucking about with the time mechanics... ;-)
Until you die constantly, then it gets annoying as hell. I'm just sad because I came a bit farther than those drunk idiots before I stopped playing.

Kind of funny, because my background actually was 3d in my original sketch http://i.imgur.com/Cg9ZtOs.png
Basically everything was done over in the painting, but still.

Damn, Nicky, yeah that is messed up.

Nice turnout, nice entries, nice nice nice
Idea: selmiak
Atmosphere: wahela
Design: selmiak
Composition: Snarky
Functionality: Creamy
Technique: wahela

Snarky, is that a 3d render paintover? That sea really has an unusual texture.
Wheela, nice entry to hide your voyeuristic past.

OK, I think it's finished. Wished I had to willpower to animate it, but this took too much time as is.

Got something in the works, I'll try to finish tomorrow.

Lots of publisher/game studios have a part of site devoted to internships and/or employment. If you want a good overlook of jobs offered I'd suggest registering on Gamastura, there's a whole lot of jobs offerings there with even an option of a newsletter you get weekly with new job listings. http://www.gamasutra.com/jobs/

So far the only gameplay I saw was the new Killzone they played in real time on Jimmy Fallon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjMgc8OILHc
This actually looks awesome (graphic wise, gameplay is meh). They didn't say if it was on the actual hardware or the pc though. And also Fallon and friend suck at playing.

THANK YOU ALL for your replies. :)
Yeah, yeah, now go and make a game already.

You guys are wacky.
-------
Here are some things my silly brain gathered together with no knowledge of anything, imagine what you can do if you put your mind to it:

Yes it is frustrating as all hell, even if you choose 1 platform (android, ios, pc), even within that you have to make sure it supports multiple resolutions. To some extent I imagine 3d is actually easier to adapt, because you "just" change the camera for each version (if the game engine supports multiple OS) and most of the things are solved.

First off all a verb coin (with icons not words) is actually good for touch devices as well, just a click to open and click to select action. Inventory might be kept in a separate screen so there's just a button (backpack or whatever) on main screen, to keep things simple and adaptable. There you go, interface all sorted while keeping it adaptable to all settings, no need for a lot of different interfaces.

There are various things you can do for the backgrounds, either 160dpi (middle of the road for androids which they know how to stretch and compress when using the pixel independent option), but otherwise 4 separate backgrounds (there's a guide for it on android pages). Make sure to keep the walkable areas to the smallest area of screen, it's easy to fill out the sides of the screen with foregrounds elements etc. which can be omitted on different sizes of screens.
But in general adventure games do have bigger issues than ie platformers, where the whole screen moves anyway, and more problems than 2d arcade things like Peggle, where every screen has the same area you need for interaction.

iPhones are basically another version of the android problem, but samey solution, more backgrounds and different resolutions.

Save games? Well wouldn't some kind of code system work. Save game and get a code which you can then put into another version of the game and then it recreates it. I think that might be the easiest way to implement it without going online etc.

Hope this ramble does one of three things: makes you angry enough at how stupid I am that you want to show me how to do it right and then do it OR makes you think "at least I'm not this idiot" OR (and this would make me happier) makes you think "those are actually some good ideas". Should make things less pissy, either way.

I don't suppose you could give a time index to look at?  I don't really have time to listen to the whole thing right now!
Sorry to say, but it's mentioned a few times during the talk, basically after each game is mentioned, so no specific part.

I honestly think people should be more open about sales figures specially smaller indie but thats just me. :P
It's not always that simple, unfortunately.

While it's cool that consoles let you play online, the whole integration with everything else is silly and basically makes consoles unusable without online access, which kind of defeats the purpose (to me at least) and simplicty of playing anything you want at any point without interruptions from updates, facebook, OS, viruses etc.

And the shit about denying backward compatibility just kind of indicates how much they care about customer loyalty. Instead of letting people play games they love (and which Sony already knows they love because they bought them), they push forward new games. Which is just silly because then instead of hundreds of games you can play, long time customers are once again reduced to no games. And to add insult to injury, they only stream stuff, so you don't get to own anything.
And in the background there's that sound of the next console coming which will again burn all the bridges behind it.

@dkh: that was brilliant, I started cracking up at "you can make anything, says the guy who only makes car racing games"
