I'm not gonna be joining, because I'm actually going to Berlin this Monday. On that note I'm gonna go off topic for a sec (you can PM me if you don't want to spoil the topic here), I'd have question for peeps that have been to Berlin - I found 2 different underground tickets & attraction discounts packages "Berlin Welcome Card" and "Berlin CityTour Card", both are 30e for 5 days, but does anybody have like a warning about which is better (maybe one of them has discounts for sucky places, I've experienced this in Munich)? Search produced that Welcome Card might be better, but I'm still not sure. Also where's like a good place to find tourist offices so I can buy them, because I'm not staying at a hotel?

Is Spandau citadel or Tehnic museum worth visiting? What's a MUST see that might be missed if just following the regular tours? Is the ZOO/Tiergarten worth visiting or walking through the park is not worth the time?
Is there some major reconstruction and it isn't worth going somewhere (I'm sure there is, I've been around south Europe and there's always something that's being renovated)?
What kind of a celebration is on October 3rd, it's supposed to be a party at Brandenburg gates, but is it like a not working holiday or something?

Also we plan on stopping in Potsdam and Dresden, anything else that might be a fun stop (especially if were coming from the south (Croatia) to Berlin)?

meh, either I'm bad at these kind of games or they are randomly against me. I just found out you have to face the rebel flag ship more than once while going back to a former repair spot just to fin it there again more or less fully powered while my ship was close to destroyed. Sooooo!!!
Not everyone is a Jean-Luc Picard.

2 things that are most often and you probably tried:
So I'm guessing you tried running the game from Steam and from the folder directly? (should be something like Steam/steamapps/common/Resonance, try winsetup.exe and resonance.exe)

Also might try verifying the cache integrity? Maybe something didn't download properly. In steam go to Library, then in the list find Resonanace and right click and select Properties. A new windows opens, choose the Local files tab and then click on "Verify cache integrity" (it doesn't hurt if you also press on the "Defragment Cache" option after this) and wait till it's done (might seem like it stopped but just let it finish). If Steam then downloads something, that was probably the problem.

Also, a very farfetched idea that was probably mentioned as well - http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=44758.0 problem was solved via Virtualbox...I have no idea if this even remotely resembles the problem but still might be inspiration.

Wow, I'm starting to feel lucky I don't have this kind of problems with my parents. Sounds horrible! My condolences.
My family has a level of keeping secrets from each other and talking behind backs, but yeah, nothing this extreme.

His right arm (the one that's closer to viewer) kind of has a long pause when it's forward and then it kind of jumps back too fast.

The arms are a tad too short, his palms should be in the height of the middle of his thighs and both arms get shorter than that when they go to the front. I know you're probably foreshortening but it's kind of too much, the arm doesn't move that much closer and farther from us that you even need to foreshorten it all (although you could just slightly). It's one thing when action heroes do it or the limbs are facing the viewer, but here it's just not that extreme.

Btw you should've really planned out this movement with a stick figure, before you drew it all, so you know where the bones/limbs go and what kind of curves the make in the movement. I like the style of the drawing though.

Do you want it to fit with the background of the blog (the yellow paint texture thing you put)?
Will the text (El Blog de las aventuras gráficas. Este Blog pretende ser...) still be there, I'm guessing you want that banner the size of that beige rectangle where that text is?

While I applaud the effort, you might want to think of the level of familiarity with PS you want to choose, because a person who made an entire background with objects in separate layers and make groups etc., probably knows how to delete a layer for example.
So maybe an intro (short text) of making a background with layers, might be helpful.

Could you like post what you did, I really don't quite understand what you did.
You want frames to last different amount of time? There might be a way, but I think you should have set up a stick figure and determine how the character will walk before you went and drew it all. Besides layers with transparency, a lot of animating software has onion skin features, what are you working in?
But I think in all cases, you'll get a choppy animation if you try post-fix the frame timing.

Funny thing though, there was a game on Greenlight that was actually a lot like FTL, but even more elaborate. You could make corridors (so you can have people guided and evacuate when there's a fire in one of the rooms), hire crew, block of parts of the ship when you're being boarded and sending soldiers.
Guess FTL beat them to the punch.

Functionality: Misj'  while Daniel's work is ok as well, Misj' has a lot of options for and adventure game
Technique: Fed27, because it sort of reminds me of Josh Kirby's work, which I like

Everything else, I'd have to go with Daniel.

Mr Hurricane's trusty aircraft does not yet have a name! Can you think of something ADVENTUROUS and EXCITING and most of all NOT TRADEMARKED?
There's an interesting name/noun I heard which would be good if it was a jet engine plane -> Contrail (oh, and apparently google says it's taken as well).
So my suggestions for aircraft names - maybe latin names of birds of prey like Buteo, Osprey, Pandion (or maybe Pandior, even if that version doesn't mean anything, just sounds cool), or maybe mythic like Boreas.

Thanks for the example Eric and I didn't know about the trick of the perspective on a curved surface so that's a bonus. I really don't have anything to add, I'm terrible with perspective, I get the "theory", but when I try to draw (without 3d base) it always looks weird.

Quote from: BishyT on Fri 14/09/2012 04:00:05Of course it's cheating (it's more editing a render rather than painting a background from scratch),
Well if you download somebody else's model, then it really is cheating, but ALL 3d gets post processed in an image or video editing or both software. It's just a difference in what skills you have. Besides that, it's not like you're saying you have brilliant painting technique, you're making a background that looks good and you're using tools at your disposal.
Besides, the shown technique in the tutorial you posted is ok, but it's not very diverse in style for backgrounds, it could use a bit of texturing to make it cooler and making the lines tighter would make more adaptable to putting sprites in.

A weird question that kind of bugs me and I don't even know how I'd look up such a thing:
is there like an unnamed class of people that co-write books with authors, and by books I mean stuff like fantasy or sf book series (stuff like Song of fire and ice, Stephen Kinds works etc.)? I'm not trying to say those people are hacks or anything it's just that the size of the books just seems like too much for 1 person, to write 600 pages in 6 or such months. And plus there's a lot of editing to be done (not only does it have to be edited but read a few times as well and I doubt you can speed read through books and edit them at the same time) on top of that, I'm sure books get rewritten in this process more than a few times, plus printing and distribution, all that takes time and it just seem weird to me people can write that fast and make it coherent.
There are ghost writers that help write biographies, but that's for people who are not writers themselves, and I know there are writer's assistants who help with continuity and such, but still I think it's not far fetched to think there are people who co-write.

As far as I've read up - Anas said he didn't do anything wrong, Moderators offered publicly their evidence and suspicion and gave a chance to be proven wrong and since then Anas hasn't replied.

I think this was far from a witch hunt and was pretty transparent so I think this was very well handled.
Sometimes I think some of the moderators get a bit strict, but I accept that they make/enforce the rules and haven't really felt I was being singled out or treated unfairly. I also appreciate their work and haven't really seen them treat anybody else unfairly either.

p.s. and this really isn't an attack or anything, I said my opinion about Anas' game threads once and really didn't care much after that and, besides that, I didn't have any proof, but I thought something was iffy about some of those posters

I thought this was going to be about text (choose your own) adventures on regular Kindle...which I think would be awesome.

EDIT: a version of ScummVM works on Android phones, I've played Flight of the Amazon Queen on my mobile (with voices and everything), so I'm guessing maybe they figured it out. Right now it almost seems like it's easier to create a game in an engine that's made for Android instead.

Instant classic, this one! Love the "red shirt" reference  (nod) (laugh)
There's the whole mission with the epic battle of Kirk vs Lizardman (in which you can use all 3 items Kirk actually used in the episode) and also Tribbles.

Very cool, just 3 things:
- 1st pic - in the back, the part around the aeroplane's engine (the grey pixels) looks kind of messy
- 2nd pic - the line that makes the top of the door of the lockers (on the right) is maybe a bit too bended/distorted
- the clouds look cool but are maybe a bit too "solid" for my taste.

Style reminds of Purcell, but it is different, so nice job on that too.

80s went fantasy and sf, 90s went dark and scary and now we have really a small number of show which show really creativity and world building. There's stuff maybe like diluted 80s, Ben10 (don't know if anybody saw this, but the monster design is pretty good) and the post-something stuff like Adventure time and then there's a bunch of stuff on Adult swim which makes jokes that are funny to people who watched all the 80s and 90s stuff.
