While the sign on the first background made me smile and you have got some skill in drawing, the style is a bit too "messy" for my taste. And have you tried actually using this in AGS, with a character? I think these are a bit impractical for actual use in-game. From the scaling issues you're likely to have, to consistency of sprite size, and detailing will be often lost (for example on the second background the book titles are hardly readable on 320x240 resolution).

jwalt, you keep making characters the same way over and over, find tutorials on the web and try out stuff.

Quote from: Ghost on Sun 17/11/2013 09:14:11Actually, yes. It was supposed to be my Halloween surprise for this year! Unfortunately I got sick a lot and did not make it, but, well, pretty sure to make it my New Years Eve surprise.
And where's the naked purple forest lady, lazy bones!?

Short but sweet. I also liked a lot of hinted and mentioned backstory, gave it all a feel of a bigger world.

My facial hair grows in patches, so it looks terrible and my taches are slow to grow and meanwhile look like crap, so I'll pass.

I simply am not filled with enough testosterone...on the other hand I'm still not going bald either, so I'm not complaining.

I almost certainly will be working late so I won't have time, but to make it easier for everybody - if somebody wants to help, you'll need to provide folks with original photos of those musicians (if you still want them in the poster) and dimensions of the poster (it says 8,26 x 11,69 inches (so it's A4 paper)), but it's useful to know what size you want anyway.
Also, since the text is in greek and in greek alphabet, maybe supply the text (written in greek alphabet so people can just copy/paste it) and translation of it (so us non-greek folk  know what is an actual title, name of musicians or generally important to emphasize).

Actually I think the worker mentions something about horse racing at one point and newspaper has report on the races.
But you're not talking about puzzle logic any more, you're talking about video game logic and you just can't go in that direction so far. You might as well ask why you can't visit the entire city of Paris in the game.

So...season 2, they're taking in preorders already. First episode comes out "before Christmas" and then they say 4-6 weeks between episodes...which I think is a bloody long time.
Some choices will carry on from S1 and the 400 dlc (haven't bought the DLC yet, waiting on a sale) and the story continues from the end of season 1.

Season 1 had trouble with keeping the pace of issuing new episodes, now with TT working parallely on The wolf among us series...there's gonna be even more trouble.

EDIT: deleted where you can get discounts of the game, just installed DLC and now all my save games are gone...f***-ing great

Quote from: Pomperipossas_Godishus on Fri 25/10/2013 06:40:41Yes you understand me correctly. Persons who likes AGS, make games, or everyone who wants to sponsor a game. The games on Wadjet Eye Games, could for short have more commercial, and even be buyed in a store like Amazon, in a DVD box. I don't mean steam is bad, rather, it is easier to see the titles and find them if you could buy them from a game store.
Excuse me, but what freakin' planet do you think you live on when you, if I understood correctly, think that smaller studios/indie developers would make more money if only they sold nondigital versions of their games?
Is digital distribution (especially of Steam, Origin and other such stores with DRM) faulty in some ways? Of course it is, but today you depend on it 99% of the time if you're not under the tent of a big publisher.
What you're talking about is Kickstarter stuff maybe.

Amateur game production is also unreliable, "sponsoring" games is just too tricky to pull off. Yes, some really awesome games appear, but expectations are also lowered for a lot things. Making people pay for games raises the bar for the length and production values. Also lots of people gain experience through making games and they probably need feedback and recognition from as many people as possible, not judgement from others as they try to sell games that might have some problems (which are to be expected). There have been Bake sales of AGS games and they've done rather well, but I think extending this would just prove to drive people away.
You start to make games that are good enough and you get good reputation for delivering professional looking projects and you'll most likely attract a publisher/digital store, what you don't do is tell people to pay you for games because you make them...

And, apart from all this, I think AGS really is an anomaly when it comes to the amount of activity and support you get in and from the community, why limit this?

Quote from: qptain Nemo on Fri 25/10/2013 09:22:11What advantages do you see in this compared to just distributing adventure games on other platforms focused on indie games (e.g. Desura, Indievania)? Because honestly, having your special extra nice distribution platform sure sounds nice, but first of all, it's tremendous effort, and secondly it's hard to estimate how good further fragmenting the market really is for players and developers. Although, tying it to a particular genre may just be the thing that works. But at the same time I must say, in my opinion tying it to one single engine in particular would be a very very bad idea.

And regarding clients, I must confess, I badly want to make a Steam-like game client myself. I already wrote a simple game launcher for myself to track playtime of non-steam games. I'd use any excuse to make a Steam-like client as long as it's a good solid excuse.
I think a good example of a weird situation with a separate client is EA's Origin - a client from a publisher with a lot of big games under it's belt, still had trouble and had to offer a lot of free stuff and stop sales of it's games anywhere else, just so they could pick it up from the ground. I know I was hesitant to use it even though it's not that obtrusive, but laziness is great within users and will I install another software on my pc, just so I can play some AGS games (and by "I", I mean the random person the net, not someone who frequents the forums and such)? I think you'd already lose half the people, who would otherwise just download the game and try it, but see they have to install stuff on their pc and then download etc. and just give up and forget about the game without even trying it.
There's already sites mentioned before and many more that offer you distribution (and certain level of promotion) of your free indie game.

I loved the TWD, but to hell with TT if they think I'm gonna wait 6 months for the complete game to come out. So I'll wait.

Well JoshuaSmyth seems to be the winner. Congratulations. Your turn to Background blitz.
And, once more, really nice entries everybody.

Now please explain how to do events and set up rooms and room changes and everything else. All the files you need to preload and the function names and everything it's too much. ???
Is it really more complicated than AGS? LOVE2d has less tools for p-n-c adventure games (well it actually has no tools at all), but I think with a bit of organising a project, it could be very easy to create stuff.
I've started learning Lua because of it and seems like one of those easy to learn, bit harded to master things (though I know nothing about programming, so take from it what you will), but besides that, a lot of stuff uses Lua now days and personally I can't wait to see what Calin comes up with.

Ok, very nice entries here, shame there weren't more, but I blame myself I guess. Gave it a day longer and had some trouble finding voting categories...so...I'm gonna stick to bare minimum ones:

Atmosphere - is it hip and groovy
Composition - lighting, colors ecetera
Functionality - how useful is it as an actual game background

Voting ends on 19th. Good luck.

Link2SD: If your phone has incredibly small internal storage, this will fix it. Unlike a lot of other apps2sd apps this one links libraries of the apps themselves, so you can keep any app on the SD card and use it, even if it isn't supposed to go on an SD card, and keep internal memory free. You can even put system apps on the SD although it's not recommended.
And again, without rooting my phone, this app does basically nothing.
Freaking Yahoo finance, pisses me off.

Good job so far. Will we see any more entries?

This looks really nice.

I just watched some gameplay of this. I hope by "shorter" dialog, you mean either more inteligent or properly hammy, not this clunky middle thing that's just bad. Oh, and the camera angles, difference between character and background art...awful.

When the people who are arguing for the wealthiest people in the country (or even the world) to pay less taxes AND at the same time hold the side which, amongst other things, would stop the poorest from being f***ed, well it's not gonna end well. On the other hand, when a change in the right direction, like Obamacare was supposed to be, happens, but along the way it actually turns out it's flawed in it's core...well it's not gonna end well.

But yeah, what SSH said. You should get as informed as you can about your options. I won't even pretend to understand the messed up American healthcare system, I can hardly understand my own basic health insurance.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Hair sideview
Sun 06/10/2013 23:10:07
Kind of hard to tell what style it's supposed to be, but here's a shot, moved the features a bit as well:
[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/CObZcgH.png[/imgzoom]
Eyes lower and changed, hair has variation and is wider than the actual skull would be, there's also I think too much similar colors, so I tried to clean that up a bit as well. I think he still may be a bit too "flat" in the side views. A bit of hair pixels sticking out of the basic shape add some style ot it I think.

My edit turned out a bit "Bieberish", I can only apologize for that.
