Hehe, we've got something in common... but then again, I don't think anyone else stays up for 20 hours a day and sleeps around midday like me.

Considering the 9am turned into 4pm quicker than I expected while putzing around on the computer... and then falling asleep around that time and then not waking up until 8am this morning... dude, that's a record for me. I finally went to sleep after talking to Duzz about lucid dreaming. Yum. Being a night owl does not mean that I am an insomniac, I just have a fear of dreaming so I don't like to sleep. I get super tired and have to sometimes though. Besides, I don't want to go insane like my friend Adam... he didn't sleep for a good two straight weeks at least and went insane because if you don't sleep for seven days in a row or more, you can be diagnosed as mentally insane.

Anyway, I must say Olleh! and also have to say that there are a fair few females here, so you you won't get genitally lonely...

Hmm.. yeah.. kind of hard to surf forums, irc or even just IMs without meeting at least one.. hell, I know two really interesting people... used to date one of them, and then they hooked up with eachother and then they broke up and they both became trans... long story short, I know many different people and you can't judge a book by it's cover so to speak. And no I will not go into the differences of each type of person. If you are the type of person that thinks all crossdressers are gay... get a life.

Agreed! Make some way of explaining this though so you don't confuse the player. Can you somehow go into his wig closet or see a bunch of wooden heads wearing his wigs?Even more eerie would be to make the wooden heads be models of Ironcrow's head! lol

Someone that evil and powerful would have to be rich and someone rich has 'clothes' for every occasion so I like the wigged-out idea very much.   AND, he you could have an easter egg where you could see him bald if you steal all of his wigs while he's asleep! Or make it a puzzle! Dude, I'm getting excited! Uhm... if I get too excited though you might ask me to help and I don't have the knowledge yet..  but feel free to use any ideas here. Whoo.

Yay! I'm not the only one! Not to say that men aren't cool gamers! I'm no weirdo feminist, but I just HATE being a minority when it comes to gaming. Gaming is my life! Adventure gaming being the bestest. Being a girl gamer gets me a lot of crap sometimes. You know how many people actually believe that all girls that play Blizzard games are lez? I'm bi, but that's beside the point. I'm getting married to a man so it shouldn't really matter anymore ya know?

I sure as hell am not going to explain my amnesia based plot and the numerous puzzles that I used in my D&D game, cause I might want to make my D&D game into an AGS game! Why? Cause then you'd all know the fuggin solution! And the point of that would be?! LOL  

Getting back on track, I also read the bit about Red Herrings being a pun or puzzle in Blake Speers' Puzzle Theory and I have the best example for that. Not really a spoiler so you can relax. In Sanitarium, Chapter 2 there is a fishing shack with a sign. The sign has no words and has the symbol of a fish. The fish is painted red. You don't know how many times I laughed my socks off watching my fiance time and time again see if anything was useful in that fishing shack. In the end, after he finished the chapter I told him what was so funny. Nothing possibly could have been useful in a fishing shack with the red herring sign.

He just groaned while I continued laughing.

No, I'm afraid I've seen a few posts on this forum that encourage the use of other people's art to promote a work. Namely, I'm not entirely happy to see the thread on elfwood art being used as public domain. Uh uh... read the rules on elfwood and this states completley otherwise.  

Other than that, a lot of artwork used for AGS games are ripped from classics. I can totally understand this from a learning point of view, or Himilayan Studios using it in respect to make gorgeous remakes of a company long gone... but.. some of our AGS friends have claimed to have made the art after blantatly ripping it or subtley altering it. There's a difference in altering a piece and saying it was used for learning, than altering it and saying it was totally yours from the beginning. Even if you change Guybrush's arm into a cannon you can still plainly tell that it's Guybrush, so... come on people. Get a grip on your ego, respect the original artist and give some fuggin credit for gosh darn's sake. Or, *gasp*, work on your own original stuff!  :o

Yes, I do hope to raise the flag on Durasian Studios soon. Thanks for the encouragement. An online friend, who goes by the name Ruu has a big dream of web design and has done a few sites here and there. ( http://violetiris.com ) He gave me a discount of a year's worth of design and updates for about $50 per year and up intil recently I haven't had the money to invest toward that road. Just this month I was talking to a friend of my fiance's and he gave me $50 out of the blue to give to Joe for my website and said he would continue to pay Joe as long as I put up ONE piece of artwork on my site each week! He knows about my procrastinator attitude due to my anxiety/depression and is trying to help me force myself to get ahead in my artwork. I have to thank him so much every day that I see him on AIM that I think he's getting annoyed. lol

D&D stands for Dungeons and Dragons. I am not going to sit here explaining what that is. You can easily go to the main site at http://www.wizards.com and find out yourself. However I pity you if you play adventure games and don't know what a table-top game is. I mean that's just... sad.  :

Ah, WC3. Can't stand much in the way of multiplayer but I adore singleplayer campaigns. Yes, working on my own custom campaign as is everyone else who has the ability to understand the editor. However, I think mine will be a while before actually getting anywhere. I've made one lousy hero before giving up for the time being, despite having the knowledge of the trigger editor. The learning curve on triggers was dramatically reduced beforehand by playing with a text adventure creation program called SUDS. If you like text adventure games as much as P&C adventure games (and/or you would like to dramatically reduce the learning curve of the WC3 trigger editor) you'll just die for SUDS! It's like AGS, only... simpler in design... and interactivity. I encourage anyone to check this masterpiece of a program out though. They are currently working on incorporating the feature of static images. I can't wait for that! Anyway, SUDS can be found at http://www.btinternet.com/~sudslore/

Just a personal opinion, but I like the 'cel-shading' look better (the top one). Being an anime artist, I just happen to get a kick out of how a flat color used correctly can look uber and still pass off as a shadow, ya know? I'm a nut for cel shading... and anime of course. ^_^

I just have to say that I think most adventure games look great with that new artistic 'skewed' style that most of the middle generation are so known for. I think you've got the skewed style down pretty far, but even skewed perspective is still perspective. Take the door and the window. Their vanishing points are going in practically opposite directions. Now I could understand if it was two different walls, but it looks to me like that are parallel walls. So my point being, watch your perspective even if you are going for that classic adventure game skewed look. LOL

Love the character! Reminds me of a roach. Is it a roach? If it is, it needs wings, otherwise it's an ant. But I like ants better anyway so eh. LOL Keep practicing with this new style. It's going great! And ignore the rambling and try to pick out the points that I am trying to convey with my cc here... I haven't had sleep.

Hey, name's Allison "Arasan Nayamu" Grutter but you can call me Arasan or Arasanime or even just Al. I really don't care as long as it's not... never mind. Every time I tell people what not to call me, they do it just to piss me off. Idiots. Besides that, I am female (any other hardcore female gamers here?), I'm 21, and I live in Michigan. I have chronic anxiety and minor bi-polar, am a serious night owl (it's 9am), a complete nut for many different games, mostly RPG and AG, but I like the occasional MMO too... and last but not least, I am currently pondering the significance of the universe... particularly the number 42 (RIP Douglas Adams) intrigues me to no end. I have a shih-tzu, a ball python (royal python) and now I have a betta. I have a fiance too. That's not a pet though. Well... I suppose that's how you look at it.

My favorite genre of gaming would have to be adventure gaming and I just recently bought the latest retail installment in the adventure gaming genre out there! "Runaway!" If you haven't got it, GO GET IT! Best Buy does not carry it from what I've seen. I have only found it at Circuit City so far. Go! Buy! It's 3D... but in classic 2D format!! It's such an awesome graphics idea! The only problem I had with the game was that it felt like it was TOO DAMN SHORT! Even though it definitely wasn't short at all. A good way to ruin the length of the game would be to look up the walthrough half the game but I got so caught up in the story that the puzzles didn't concern me. Now that's rare with me. I usually like to slowly ponder my way through things but this game seemed too fast paced and exciting to want to work it through! Oh and the only other downside was the fact that you had to insert Disc 1 before loading the program at all. Which meant if you were on Disc 2 or 3 you couldn't just use Disc 2 or 3 to get to your save game like with CMI.  

Speaking of CMI, can I just say I god damn love that game to pieces! Better than any MI ever! Even the first! But.... my all time favorite classic adventure game to date has always been and hopefully always will be... Simon the Sorcerer 1.

So... let's see if this AGS program even works on my computer. Assuming it does, I'll set up some threads for my ideas on some games. I have one overall main idea, but I am not sure if I want that idea to be used in an adventure game. You can learn about the main idea which involves a fairly high fantasy world called Durasia at my site http://www.durasianstudios.com LATER when it's up. Right now, there's a bunch of random art. Look, but don't touch. Do not steal my art. You have been warned.

'Private use' my foot!!  :o Do you not know about the new copyright laws?? And do you not read the laws on elfwood itself? Do I have to take down my gallery just because ignorant fools such as you don't read? Just because you find some art online doesn't make it public domain. Learn some respect for artists please before you go giving out potentially harmful false information!

If you have used any elfwood art for your backgrounds in any published games without permission I will tell the artist of this immediately and you will most likely be sued by that particular artist. And if you rip me off from my own personal gallery on elfwood sometime in the future... let's just say that I wouldn't go that route my friend.

Okay wait, let me edit this. If you mean 'private use' as in usage as a desktop background or a picture on a wall in your house, then YES, images on elfwood can be used for PRIVATE USE. But making a background out of it for your AGS game is not private use. That's practically the same as using the image for a website background and that is a type of use that is not allowed. That's using it as public domain and the images are not for public domain. So unless your game is staying on YOUR harddrive, you can not use images from elfwood as an AGS image.
