What a tiny little 'e' can do to the meaning of a word  :=

Why can I picture this going down such a horribly wrong path? :=

Why? Your freudian sense tingling, or something like that?  :)

I like the sprite itself but like babar said: Currently he lacks a good rigid posture.

Done a quick drawover:

*altered his posture by putting his legs tightly together
*altered his posture by putting his arms behind his backs (for some reason I always imagion officers that way)
*Gave him thick eyebrows, which also cause a "disintressed" look in his eyes. Personally I found it to fit the character
*Lowered his right shoulder a little bit

Hope this helps you a bit

This CB's topic is: Spaceships!

Use the given outline to create your own spaceship. Will it be a spacestation, a cruiseship, a freighter, a star destroyer, a nimble fighter or something of a different nature? It doesn't matter aslong as it gives the impression it could be a form of transportation in space.
For example: it could be a gentle polka-dot giant space whale, hijacked  and enslaved by the savage 3 feet tall space pirates from planet Xiya. (it sounded funnier in my head)

RULES
Theme:          Has to be a form of space transportation
Max colours:  256
Max height:   200
Max width:    320
-Additional-
* The outline may be mirrored and rotated in way or form, but not scaled.
* The outline may be copied. Copies of the outline can be altered in any way and are not restricted as the original
* The outline may be altered, but still has to be recognisable. (You know what I mean ;))
* Additional items (wings, thrusters etc.) may be placed ontop of the outline aslong as the original shape is still clearly visible.

As usual bonuspoints for creativity and originality. Also bonuspoints for the use of a background.

Thanks :)

Now comes the hard part, thinking up a new competition theme.

It is indeed a good adaptation. Unfortunatly it falls outside the given ruleset.

I tried to give it a bit more dragonlike physique.

A very nice animation, with a really a good style.

Altho I do agree with Bluke here, the hands do look a bit odd in the front view. makes me think "JAZZ HANDS" everytime he one of his arms is in the forward motion.

That was a pretty good readthrough.

"Scan" is an ancient word (first recorded before 1398) with primary definition "to examine closely," which is how it's commonly used.

That might be true, but the general audience would not automaticly think "gee where did that word originate from?" Instead they automaticly associate it with something they know of their lifetime.

If he chooses to keep that action 9 out of 10 people would find "examine" a more logical choise for a medieval setting game then the word "Scan"

just my two cents tho..

I agree with viktor, I think you such leave it as it was. "Scan" is something for a futuristic type of game.

*edit*
a typo :)

Thanks for the comments and edit guys!

I think I'll use the stairs idea from ProgZmax edit and add some random junk on the lower right section, complete with junk vendors and such. hmm, maybe I'll throw in some sort lights also on the edge of the stairs.

I think I can work with this :)

I always enjoy a good custom GUI. But you're not here for praise but comments, well I do have a few.

It's really big, it takes up something like 40% of your screen? A bit smaller GUI would work just as well, but leaving more screenroom for the BG's.

Also, I see your inventory screen has no distinguisable borders, you might want to add that (maybe in the form of something like an window).

And last but not least, your actionbuttons look like they sometimes are written without a space, you might want to add a bit of extra space there. For example between "walk" and "look" and between "talk" and "inspect".
(on a little side note, is it really necesary to have look and inspect?)

Hope this helps a bit

I remember this image from before as well!Ã,  I did an edit then as well :)

I know, the reason the upper buildings are shaded the way they are is because of your edit back then (who says I dont listen to critics? :))
And thanks for taking your time once AGAIN on aiding poor old me.

Hmm, cutting a hole into the ground DOES solve the "excess floor" problem. But I don't think I want to do something drastic like that just yet.

And those are some lovely stars you made there btw :)

Thanks for the comments so far guys, I appriciate it.

[LGM]
Not that I don't appriciate your help, but it wasn't exactly what i asked for. (The pic is still in progress so i never got around putting in the stars etc, I'm saving that for the final touch :)).
I guess my question wasn't quite clear in the first post.

I need help with the floor, its empty and im kinda wondering how I can fill it up (not with filters from photoshop or something like that, I like doing things manual). But just adding some sort of tile on it still doesnt quite fill it up. And I'm wondering what else IÃ,  can put down there to fill it up.

About the window pannels, yea I still need to slap some nifty design on them :)

About the colours.. well I've never been good with them, and I love your more blue/purple saturated hue. It makes it all look a bit colder (wich is what I'm aiming for)

That guy
Yea. that is the idea eventually. It would be kinda desolate if noone would walk around a space station

Cluey
Thanks :)

WARNING: Big Picture Ahead !
Spacestation Promanade

You might recognise this bg from last year. Well I've started again with this little project, and I'm trying to bring this bg to a close.

The houses themselfs weren't a big problem (the lower section isn't colored yet btw), but I'm at a lost what to do with the floor, especially the lower sections since thats alot of empty space right there not being used.

Any and all suggestions are welcome for it.

Created alot of RPG chars back in ye olde days, so this was fun to do again.
A generic female hero of unknown origion is my entree

40 high and 17 wide. 12 colors for the char itself, 5 colors were used to create the purple border (so 17 in total). The border is only there to enhance the picture since I used light blue here and there.
