Critics' Lounge / Re: Once upon a sprite
Mon 16/08/2004 00:23:25
First I'm putting it in a editable game tool I found somewhere in the murky depths of internet called KOF_91 or something like that. Its real easy to put your own creation in there, altho it is a bit limited.

But after i'm satisfied with the looks of the character I'll try import it into something called "MUGEN". It is alot more complicated to work with tho. But the engine gives you alot more freedom.
This engine mimics the game engine of the likes like capcoms streetfighter zero and such. But as said: It's alot more trouble to create your character with.

I just started with it today. So its no way near complete.
As for clicking my sign. Thats a friend of mine his website. I'm currently helping him with one of his AGS games, So you'll find no reports about this project down there (And no, I don't own a website of my own).

I've been busy with this sprite for a little while now and would like some C&C. It's not a sprite for ags, but another program wich lets you develop a oldschool fighting game. But then again, a sprite is a sprite right? :)

The Warlock, not only know for it's bad taste in selecting matching colors for its wardrobe but also for his devestating firebolt attacks. These guys float mid air with the shear power of there minds. They never touch the ground to walk since they find the use of muscle vulgar.

Ã,

The Jelly/Drop, No RPG can go without one of these guys! Tiny, small and usually pretty weak. They resist alot of physical damage but can't handle the magic well

Ã,

*EDIT*
Heh, using the actuall heads of the persons in question like that would make it look alot funnier Ozwalled :)

The "Goblin Knight" as promised.

the editable bmp is here: http://members.lycos.nl/arboris/AGS/GoblinKnight.bmp

*EDIT*
Made 8 different palletes for the Goblin Knight.
Maybe this will help you too. I made this a few years back for the RPG2k editor 'cause a friend of mine was making a game with it. He never finished it tho... So maybe you have any use for these sprites.

No offence taken offcourse. As I already said it was something I drew earlier . I kinda guessed you couldn't use this, but you never know.
I'm busy now on some sprites, starting with a "goblin knight" and even in 90x90 so you can actually use it :P
#327
heh, this sounds like fun to do :P. I think I'll have a crack at it
Don't know if this is midleage styled or anything but maybe you can use this picture I used for a spritejam.

Indeed, 3 characters in one small frame drawn in great detail. A well deserved victory for Big Brother, Congratulations !

Here's a quicky I did

Ã,

Its a great char, and this for your first try.
But you might want to tone down on the color use, you're using a great variaty of hues of colors wich almost cant be told apart from eachother unless you take this picture and magnify it greatly.

As for the repaint part:
I redid the shading a bit and used only 3 different kinds of red for the shirt and 3 blues for the pants. I also lift the arm a bit, it was kinda long and redid the hand a bit (basicly added a few pixels to the original hand) I also redid the color use for the arms so that this one also uses 3 differnt kinds of hues (setting kind of a standart i guess :P using max 3 different hues for every color)

Keep it up, this is really good work Fertoff :)

Here's my entry, A dual wilding Crusader. Its 110x128 and uses about 35 colors I believe

Ã,

Took me really long to create this. But it was worth it in the end, it really looks spiffy. :)

Hm, looks like something for the new Austin powers movie :D (if there is ever going to be anotherone that is) "The attack of the psychedelic aliens"

Here's my entry:

I thought about doing a pic about the planet of lucious woman, But I just sticked to the basics :P

*EDIT* modified the picture a bit so that it only uses the standart 16 color pallette used in paint

It really looks nice, I'm looking forward seeing this colored. As for the critics: the perspective on the desk seems off.  I don't think you should be able to look on the top shelf.

Hm, what are the doodles on the ground supposed to be ?
#337
Nice! it looks really good.

But it might be just me, but isn't that window kinda small ? Also the background with the mountains look a bit weird. Do mountains always have sharp triangler shapes like that? You might want to look at some fotos of mountains for referance. Also, I almost see no contours of the eyes. you might want to bring those up a bit, he kinda looks eyeless now :). The lightning subject has already been done by Strazer so i`ll wont bring that up again.

But again: It looks really good, keep up the good work.

I dont have a tablet to work with, so its do was done with the mouse (wich isnt the most effective way to make your selfportraitÃ,  :-X)
It took me about 10 - 15 mins to create it.

Great work BTW Igor. They look absolutly stunning for a MSpaint sketch.

I think looks great, nice high tech tho with those jittery things in "secret of atlantis" And with those lights comming from "atlantis". Reminds me of a sci-fi movie poster or something.

I like the door alot better the way it is now. The cabin is still a bit rifid and straight looking compared to the rest tho.
The colors look alot better now too, compared to your old ones.
What i did notice is the wrong perspective on the window in the roof. you might want it to change to look a bit more like this:

btw: the night sky picture almost looks like a window.
