Eh, apparently putting disclaimers in games like:"This is a free game created with the AGS engine. Not for sale or rent. Visit http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk for more information." when a game starts isn't a bad idea.

Bit impartial about that to be honest. Abuse is a good game, but so is duke nukem and biohazard.

And the best thing is, YOU can draw the TOO. Check out Helm's tutorial: http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/upload/pixelvids/mockup.avi

thanks for that one :D, hadn't seen it before

*edit*

out of curiosity, what's that tile program he's using ?

I really enjoy the genre. Games like commander keen, earthworm jim or metal slug are great. And as with most platformers, the make or break for me is how well it plays. no lag, and spot on controls are quite important, aswell as well defined rules (eg. Cleary defined platforms where you can jump on)

I also came across this one recently, it's hard as nails

Bunny must die gameplay video

it's free to download here, if you're interested.

I bought one of those black Wacom bamboo, mainly to experiment with. It's quite nice, and the fact the pen doesn't need batteries is great. I don't use it that often tho and I've used it only in GIMP so far. I tend to stick with MSpaint and the line tool for some reason ;)

You do realize you can check the picture's properties and find that it is called "http://blacktreeuk.net/2d/dirty_harry.jpg" right?

Way to take the fun out of it :P

If you guys are looking for a project, why not revive The Sphinx? It already has a good plot, well defined characters and puzzles for the first episode. Plus a style guide by Big Brother, and a few semi-finished backgrounds I made. 2d adventure had deleted all of the graphics on the wiki, but here's what's on my harddrive:

That looks great, when was this?

My, InCreator, so much nerdrage and I agree with almost none of it :P (base building ain't bad, ya hear?!) And while Red Alert took it's campyness  to a whole new level (with comic book style units to boot), the new strategic elements of unit powers were quite a welcome addition. Besides, I can't flaw a game when I'm taking orders from Dr. Frank N. Further :=

I can't speak for CnC4, since I haven't played it yet. But is it really that different from CnC3? Looking at the screenshots I don't really think so.

Using Graphicsgale and dont know how to make transparent

Maybe this will help.

Remind me never to draw one of these again, they're a pain in the arse to create.

Don't know how to make that blue transparent. Anyone?

I usually use GIMP for that (It's free!).

1. Select the background you want to make transparent with the 'fuzzy select tool'. You can select multiple area's by pressing and holding the Shift key. (Note: Fuzzy select's threshold should be standard on 15 I believe, otherwise you need to set it lower if you're more 'fuzzy selecting' then you want).
2. Hit your 'Delete' key on your keyboard. You should now see a checker pattern for the parts you deleted
3. 'Save as' either a .GIF or .PNG

Viola, transparent background

It's not bad at all. Altho I would advice you to give the colours some more contrast. You're using allot of colours which I can barely tell apart from each other.

Here's a quick example, I only redid his clothes btw. Didn't touch his face or hands.

Been here since 2003, and I haven't released one full game in all that time := Quite sad actually. And even if I have a moment of inspiration, I'm usually more interested in using AGS in ways it wasn't meant for.  (Currently busy on a Golden Axe clone for whenever the mood strikes me for example)

Also: I haven't seen Helm in a very long time.
