I'm sure it's been done before, but if it hasn't then "Eye of the Beholder" is a pretty nifty name.
#262
Ah it's ok, I found out how to do this. I renamed the directory where my game is saved, loaded it up in ags and recompiled, and it changed the name of the .exe automatically. Perhaps when cj gets back from Mittens he could add this to the helpfile?
#263
How do I get AGS to compile my game to a differently named .exe file? When I started I was using a working title, but now I have a proper name I really need to change the executable filename, but just renaming it causes all kinds of problems. A "Save As" button would be really useful here...

General Discussion / Re:MS Paint

I use the GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/) - it's just as powerful as PSP, but freeware. The only catch is, since it's ported from Linux the interface is a little... quirky ^_^

I don't just think it's possible, I think it's downright important to have friends of the opposite sex. Being able to ask a female perspective on things can be a great help sometimes.

Personally, I find it way easier to hang out with girls who are in the 'friend zone', since there's not the pressure of "oh my god does she want to sleep with me", but that might just be me being weird.

The tool I find myself using most often that isn't in MSPaint is the Magic Wand tool - this allows you to select a region of just one colour (like a flood fill, only it selects stuff instead of colouring it in). Also, I think layers are pretty neato, and I use them all the time for colouring, drawing perspective lines, and keeping original scans underneath what I'm working on. Other than that, there's not much that PSP, Photoshop and others can offer the pixel artist.

Good work! You need to do something with the ceiling tho; the flat grey doesn't fit with the rest of the textured look.

Ugh, ditch the lens flare! Everything looks great except for that. If you still want something there, I'd suggest a sketchy circle or something using the greyscale colours you already have.

It's all well saying that now, but that's not how you came across in your original post. But hey, that's life, eh? I say we bring this thing to a close now. I'm sorry for possibly overreacting, and I'll accept your explanation as an apology.

*BIG GROUP HUG*

Now I've gotta get off to bed, it's way past my bedtime :)

It's the way you seem to write off any kind of music that doesn't involve 36 layers of counterpoint and a symphonic orchestra. Trapeziod quite clearly doesn't write heavy metal music, and so your comments "whatever kind of rock/metal" and "ultraspecific label" are patronizing, demeaning, and insulting. I fail to see how you can't appreciate this.
#271
Well, if you go through your post and change all the 'you's for 'one', then it wouldn't be insulting. Saying "But now that I think about it, I'd say half the stuff doesn't even apply to whatever kind of rock/metal music one might write" can't be misinterpreted, whereas the way you put it makes it sound like you think Trapezoid makes heavy metal. Jeez, you're such a stickler for music you'd think you would be able to apply some rules of grammar...

19. When running away from a large explosion/collapsing building/other dramatic event, and being filmed doing it, make sure you say "Let's get out of here!", or the common variation "Let's get the hell out of here!". That way, you can sell the film to Hollywood and make B1G BUX!!

Actually, I think the flame war is the fun part ^_^ we never get to have a good one around here, the mods lock the topic as soon as anything even resembles getting interesting :~(

You insulted the work of somebody who I appreciate as a composer, so I responded. And because you have no suitable counter-arguments, you resort to saying that you weren't talking to me, DESPITE the fact that you posted on a public board, instead of PMing your comments to the person in question.

undergroundling: why? I'm having fun here  ;D

Note if you will the pronoun "you" :P

Lol ok slug, I think you should listen to trap's music, and then take back your horribly snobbish statements. I may not agree totally with some of what trap says, but he IS a good composer. You instantly assume that he must be a heavy metal artist, because we all know that these damn kids don't put any effort into structuring their "songs".

Edit: listen to Across the Night or Emotion Sickness by Silverchair and tell me those songs don't have any classical value. Now I might love the technical achievement of playing, and even understanding, a piece of Bach or Mozart, but that doesn't stop me from realising that the intellectual side of music is only one part.

HEADCRAB!!!!

No, seriously put a headcrab or a sounddog or some other HL reference in.

General Discussion / Away for three weeks
Wed 02/07/2003 18:25:22
Just for those of you who know me, on Friday I will be away for no less than three weeks (!), the first week of which will be spent on CCF camp in Nescliff (no, I don't know where it is either), and the latter two in sunny Minorca. Since neither of these locations will have a cyber café or internet connection of any kind, I won't be about.

HOWEVER, and it's a big however, being away for so long I expect some big things when I return. These include, but are not limited to:

* Byzantine finished and released
* The Journey Home part 2 and The Case finished and ready for me to add music to before release
* Leitor's Ledge released
* At least THREE games from Xadhoom with awesome low-res artwork
* AGS Version 3.82
* Nationwide ADSL rollout completed in the UK

So chop chop! Get to it lads
