It's all a matter of perspective. Of course if you've been here three years then the topics will seem more jouvenile than when you joined- because you are three years older now than you were then. And of course the joke threads and the favourite ags game threads and the inane question threads and the angst threads will seem lame and uninteresting- because you've seen them all before, whereas the newbies will be having a whale of a time releasing all their pent up philosophical energies ^__^ or... something.

Use a text script, and put the line

character[MAN].room = x;

where MAN is the script name of the npc and x is the room you want him to move to.

As for your gui problem, are you sure you correctly edited the global script to handle the gui as you expected?

You don't NEED photoshop; paint shop pro will do fine, or even the freeware GIMP: http://www.gimp.org

It's perfect! Some great pixel work there. Perhaps the reactors could do with some shading to make them look cylindrical, and perhaps some faint shading around the bases to make them look like they're actually touching the ground, but I dunno if that would go against your style.

Great, that's perfect :) How soon's this gonna be incorporated into the official release?

Edit: urgh, so it's not quite perfect... the sustain doesn't cut off when you change music! So half the notes last forever into the next tune :/

I use my real name everywhere, since I... hang on a sec, there's a mysterious sounding knock at the door, gonna go look...

Disclaimer: I know nothing about relationships! The following advice should not be taken heed of under any circumstanes.

The way I see it, your entire jelousy revolves not around her male friends (which are, after all, a normal thing to have), but around your suspicians that she still has feelings for her first boyfriend. Now, fond, perhaps even loving, memories of a first partner are normal. However, openly displaying these feelings to your current partner (by means of the photograph) is not normal. She needs to ask herself: do I really love my current partner (you) enough to overcome my feelings towards my former partner? This is assuming that she DOES have feelings for him. If not, then the photo may be some kind of powerplay by her, which of course has got to stop.

To sum up then, your relationship is savable, but only with both of you honestly confronting your own emotions. Which will be a very... hurtful experience, and at the end of it you may not have a relationship at all. All I can say now is good luck.

Flippy: lol
Xad: as always, it looks awesome. Reminds me of Sylvester Styllone, if that's the kind of hero you're going for.

It will look like sand, once you've altered the colour and brightness. I'd suggest getting a photo reference for that. And don't forget the effect of lighting in your scene.

When I'm transferring files from one of my PCs to another, I always split the file into 1.44MB (or 720k ;) ) pieces on my hard disk, then transfer those by floppy. That way, if a floppy is corrupted, I can just retransfer the broken file.

High compressed jpeg backgrounds? You any idea how bad that would look? Flash animations, well that's been talked about in a different thread. As for "it will not harm", well how about all the features that people would actually find useful but which CJ will never get time to implement because he's too busy working on multiple cd spanning and a flash renderer?

And the fact is, nobody is EVER going to make a 750mb game. It just ain't gonna happen.

edit: haha, beat you to it, cj :P

Looking through this post it seems that many people who originally signed up for this have since left the forums.
#356
That's great, except the text you added needs some antialiasing.

I was astounded on reading Terry Brook's first Shannara trilogy that he had somehow essentially copied Tolkein (right down to the winged riders), and not only got away with it, but was praised highly for it! So I wouldn't worry too much about plagiarism, especially not in an amateur adventure game.

I think what you describe is a lot easier than junc makes out. If you already know C or C++ then the ags scripting will take you a weekend to learn, otherwise it could take a little longer. It might be worth supplementing the tutorials in the ags manual with some guides to C on the internet, since your first programming language is always the hardest!

Specifically to what you need, look up GetGlobalInt and SetGlobalInt in the ags help file. You can use global ints to store all information about character's levels, exp, attack and defence, etc. and the AGS engine will helpfully store all these automatically when a user saves their game. Your more detailed questions someone else might like to help with.
