It's kind of ... uninspired. It's a very competent rendering of a school science lab, but that's not what the competition asked for. More chaos - burning things, beakers bubbling over, etc., are what spring to mind, rather than a lab with the taps on. Some of the other entries aren't as well executed, as you said, but it's more in the composition, I think.

I've found kittens make most things easier to take. I try to have one around when ever I insult someone, it totally throws them off.

People who deliberately fuck up a language. Not genuine typos (I make a lot myself), not people using a second language, but people who deliberately bastardise a language for ease, or because it's 'cool'.

Sorry, it's just that text-speak, '733t'-speak and such REALLY PISS ME OFF! (And yes, I meant to shout.)

That's what I said a few posts ago.
There isn't actually a 'Loop Room' function, as far as I know, but the scripting needed to do it is in Demo Quest. So, while I see what Evil means, and yes, it's kind of a nifty idea, I don't get the point of this thread.

Las Naranjas:
Thank you, I've kinda wanted to say that myself, but have been too 'British' and polite. I totally argree, except personally I'd make it 95%. Maybe higher. Except for Jennifer Lopez, who I reserve the right to hate on principle. The principle being 'She's shit.'

Yup, I get the virus warning, too. Apparently folder.htt has the VBS.Redlof.A virus. Maybe you could upload again?

Quoteit seems like this is just something that everyone already does...

I don't think I've seen anything exactly this anywhere before, but I guess it's basically just a looping room.

The biggest question I would have is, why? I'm having difficulty thinking of a reason to do this, other than for the sake of it.

I think it depends on what you mean by 'the norm'. I've got a friend who's quite into anime, and as far as I can tell there are two quite different styles - one that you're talking about, which is very 'cartoon-y' and exagerated, and one which is more realistic, like TheDude said. That's a little over simplified, though, and I think most stuff falls in the middle - so if you want to see it as crappy, toony anime, you'll mostly pick up on those elements, while if you just want to enjoy the story, you won't. The other possiblity is you're getting 'proper' anime confused with the pokemon-style crap that seems to be all over the place. This stuff IS the devil, yes.

Huh, your webpage doesn't seem to be working, either.

EDIT: Ignore this. It's just the link at the top that don't work.

I haven't seen the 2nd and 3rd films, but I've read the books, and the battles in them aren't as graphicly described as they seem to be in the films, it's more of an overview, than close ups of dismemberments. And, while I don't actually LIKE the HP books as much as LotR and The Hobbit, I think they're better written than Hobbit.

I've just remembered, I also wrote about 1,000 words of an Evil Dead movie while I was at Uni. Not so much a sequel though, more a pilot for a series.

I disagree. Sure, some of the dialogue needs work, but over all I think it's pretty solid. I actually AM wondering what happens next, whether Vincent's note meant he'd walked out to get dusted, or whether he and Kara are starting an unlife togther with Lamont. As for the vampires not being mentally any different from regular boys, why would they be? I get the impression most of them are meant to be newbie vamps anyway.

Three things I would suggest changing:
1. Lamont's dialogue needs the most work - he's meant to be older, and you say you imagine him British, but he still sounds like a teenage American. Also, his last speech is a bit too much, too quick.
2. 'Lamont' is a bit too like 'Lestat', as a vampire name.
3. Maybe cut down the number of vamps, and give each of them more to do. They're kind of cyphers at the moment.

I think the arm in the front view needs to be 1 pixel thicker, to close the gap with the body slightly. Maybe use the outline grey from the side view, to stop it from merging. As for the face, maybe you need to take some detail AWAY, to stop it looking so cluttered.

But I think with Final Fantasy, most of the time was spent on modeling the graphics, which were pretty darn good, while the script seemed to have been hashed out in a weekend. Anyway, I don't think LGM was talking about the time put into them, as much as the care and desire to make a good film, rather than shed loads of money as seems to be the case now.

You've got a page set up for the game already, add the new screenies there.

IsObjectAnimating (int object)

Returns 1 if the specified OBJECT is currently animating. Returns 0 if the object has finished its animation.
Example:

AnimateObject(2,5,0,0);
while (IsObjectAnimating(2)==1) Wait(1);

Wierd that objects get a function, while characters have to use the variable, but still.....

I agree, for the most part, old Disney = good, new Disney = bad.

But the Pixar stuff ... I haven't seen any of them, and don't intend to. They just don't appeal to me in the slightest, but I wouldn't have a problem with them if it weren't for (and LGM I don't mean to be rude here) people saying 'Oh, if you don't like these films there must be something wrong with you'. It's not that I have a problem with adults liking kids films, it's just that most of them don't look any good to me.

Sorry if this reads like a rant, but I have a friend who keeps trying to drag me to every single damn kiddy film that comes out, so it's a topic that pushes buttons, is all.

EDIT: I just realised this is about the third thread I've posted in 'arguing' with LGM. Sorry about that, it's nothing personal.

Quoteas far as betas go, they don't have to use the installer.. Because it's just for testing, and isn't an official release.

But when they d/l the beta, most people use that instead of the earlier version, making the 'official', installed release obsolete. And yes, an installer is more professional looking but, as has been said, if you're going to be put off by a zip file, maybe AGS isn't for you in the first place.

As everyone, including you, has said, the translation's a little off. Alright, a LOT off. There's also a few places when it switches ramdomly from past tense to present tense and back again, but this could be because of the translation.

Apart from that, it's OK. I wouldn't be rushing out to get the rest of it, but I wouldn't stop reading in digust either. Although to be honest it takes a lot to make me not want to read something.

Short answer: No. No it does not.
#3159
I can see that.

Publisher: Hey, JRR, the kids loved that Hobbit story of yours. How about you bang out a few more?
Tolkien: Sure, I can do that. About 3 do you?

Only thing is, is doesn't really NEED installing/setting up, just unzipping. So, really, it would just be a bigger download for no real reason. Also, since updated versions are released fairly regularly, it's be a hassle to have to un-install and re-install every other month just to keep up with the betas.

Don't mean to be rude, it's not a bad idea, it just seems unnecessary to me.
