Calin do you know if the government is reconsidering after the protests? I can't find anything on that.

Quote from:  Nick Clegg
I hate in politics, as in life, to make promises that you then find you can't keep... We made a promise we can't deliver - we didn't win the election outright and there are compromises in coalition.

Lol compromises.

"Vince Cable has denied breaking promises on university fees, saying the Lib Dems are bound by the coalition deal - not pre-election pledges."

Hmm, they still remain the same party. Their ideals should be the same no matter what, and not try to defend themselves with technicalities.

Basically, the government is making people pay for the rest of their lives for wanting to better themselves. There have been walkouts and protests since they announced a rise in tuition fees; the worst of which was earlier this month. Check this vid dawg:

Suffice to say, the violence wasn't entirely sparked by students. Anarchists from around London joined in after they heard what shiz was goin down. Ahh, it takes me right back to 1381.

Well, after taking the red pill from some sketchy guy in shades, I woke up in a reality greater than anything you plugged-in humans can imagine. I then spent many years on an awesome ship called the Nebuchadnezzar, which had laser guns and everything. I took an apprenticeship with Cypher, who taught me to read the Matrix, but after he betrayed my best friend Morpheus to Agent Smith (another sketchy dude in shades), I took to the road with a chic called Trinity. She was perfect but it never came to anything, because she had the eye for Neo... just because he was The One =(

So I entered the matrix with Neo and we had this awesome fight, while Trinity was watching over our twitching bodies back on the Nebuchadnezzar. I landed blows that could tear holes in the time-space continuum, but Neo got hold of this pole (which you can see wobbling on Bonus disk 2) and started doing crazy martial arts on my arse. Then Agent Smith turned up and started replicating himself like horny bunnies until Neo was swamped! I knew we'd never be free without The One to save us, so I found the nearest telephone and warped back to the Nebuchadnezzar. I had to reprogram the Matrix so Agent Smith's int Strength equalled 0!

Suffice to say I failed so that's why none of us are unplugged.

I love that film. Whenever it's on TV I always miss the first fifteen minutes for some reason.

Zyndikate, the 5th and 6th panels are like some kind of impossible spot the difference lol.
#1068
That's great news mode - fingers crossed you will be able to finish. Is there anybody else out there working on something?
#1069
Do you work for Disney? It's superb.
#1070
A week has passed now, so that leaves just three more for YOU to make an amazing MAGS.
#1071
I was going to enter but Ponch put me off. :( Naught but Davy Jones can take the wind from his sails.

However, it won't stop me lusting after kconan's sensuous, golden booty.

I see what you mean. On one hand the author may have intended it to be a game, and if they get no rating on the assumption that they didn't intend it to be a game, it might be quite disheartening.

So therefore it should be taken into account which category it was submitted to. If there was an "Experimental" section, then all submissions could be judged accordingly, taken into account they are not meant to have gameplay.

Sure, there is already a "Non-adventure game" category, but as it says in the title, those games are meant to be games.

I also think what Calin is trying to get at is that the panel will rate how good their experience was, of whatever is placed before them; regardless of whether it can be played or not. But from your examples, it is clear those games were enjoyed but given one cup, only because they weren't meant to be games.

Bottom line, the absence of policy stems from there being no "Other" category.
#1073
Damn. I see what's happened. Ok, just add a C and an A to your letters. Sorry.
#1074
Now. How did I know Calin would be the first to reply? :P Surprisingly I foresaw all of your questions but didn't address them in the instructions.

Yes, the answer to the first part should be the nationality.
The second part does not include the article, and it's the English translation, sorry for not explaining that Radiant.

Top form Calin. You got the wrong codeword (on account of me not adding those extra details), but you've got all the clues correct, so now you can probably descramble the correct word!

A while ago I was writing codes and riddles for laughs, and just found this exercise I authored. It comes in two parts (the first of which is a very classic riddle), and the object is to end up with a code word. So, if you have nothing better to do, why not? The first person to PM or post the final codeword wins!

The Riddle

Part 1:

There are five houses next to each other on a street, painted five different colours.
A person of different nationality lives in each house.
The five home owners each drink a different beverage, smoke a different brand of cigar, and keep a different pet.

The question is simple: which nationality owns the fish?

Of course, you need the necessary clues:
1. The British man lives in a red house.
2. The Swedish man keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Danish man drinks tea.
4. The Green house is next to, and on the left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the center house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The Blends smoker lives next to the one who drinks water.

Note the first, second, fourth and fifth letters of the answer.

Part 2:

Note the second and third letters of this music's title*, and the second letter of the composer's full name.

Add a C and A to your letters, and descramble them until they can be eaten. Then give me the word.

* (in its English translation, and without any articles)

Topic: 'Fate'

This month's guidelines were set by joelphillippage:

Think of games or stories where the main character has had their fate decided for them. How did they respond? Mona De Lafitee
has to accept that she is a vampire and make the best of the situation. Sadwick tries to deny the fate of world destruction. Bobbin
Threadbare ends up unintentionally fulfilling his prophecy. Good Luck. Make Games. See What Happens.

Additional requirements:
• The player character must have some kind of known fate.
• There must be some kind of Oracle (Be creative. It could be the character's mom saying they will never be married).
• No Aliens!

Ending 2/12/2010

What is MAGS?
MAGS is a monthly competition for all amateur adventure game makers. The idea is to create a game in under a month, following the rules set by the previous winner. It aims to help you work to a deadline, improve your skills, or provide a kick-start into making adventure games. Regardless of skill, MAGS is for everyone. Voting is based on "favorite" games, and not the most artistic, or the best coded. If you have bad art skills, use it as a chance to do some graphic work. If you're sub-standard at coding, use it as a chance to give scripting a go. Ultimately, people will vote for the most enjoyable entry.

You may get help for the competition, although you must end up doing something yourself. You should however be warned that it proves difficult to organize a big team within thirty days. You are not allowed to use material already created before this competition. Your game must be completely new! Music and sound is an exception; you can use free material that is available to the public, if you wish. Modules and templates are also allowed. Please do not enter the competition with a rushed entry (a game created last minute). Sure, you can make a game and rush it - but don't do this just to win by default.

Entering MAGS is simple. First, conceptualise your game following the month's criteria (see top). Second, create your game fueled only by coffee. Third, finally, and most importantly, post your game here, including:

✓ A working download link.
✓ The title of your game.
✓ A suitable screenshot.

At the end of the month, the all-important voting will begin! This period usually lasts thirty days. Should you win, along with announcing the next month's rules, your name and game will be immortalised in the MAGS Archive. Yet hopefully, at the end of the month, the accomplishment of finishing a game will be your greatest prize. For more information please visit the Official MAGS website.

Yep. So it's pretty clear nobody's interested.
I'll start the new MAGS before this eats into any more time.

Competition closed.

Inmate

He arrived at the prison,
Hounded by press.
Bundled in a police van.

When he was given clothes,
He turned them down.

"I will not
need those."

When he was given a bed,
He turned it down.

"I'll sleep on the
Stone floor."

When it was lunchtime,
He sat alone.

Where only
rapists
murderers
and paedos do go.

Jeering, thugs with
Thick bruised and broken necks;
Calling from the catwalks.

Reminding him of the crime.
#1079
As yet nobody's thrown this MAGS a life jacket. It's sinking fast.
Not even cookie girl can coax people. What's the world coming to? D:

SPC, I will grant an extension of a few days, so you can enter with what you have.
That might even kill two birds with one stone, and somebody will deliver a steaming pile of competition.

So therefore, I hereby decree MAGS October will run until November 3rd.

Good luck all and sundry!

Barefoot, if there's just one line of code after the if statement, brackets aren't necessary. So

Code: ags
if (player.ActiveInventory == imatches) {
   Display("No good using matches!!");

}

 if (player.ActiveInventory == itorch2) {
   Display("No good using a torch!!");

}

 if (player.ActiveInventory == isword) {
   Display("You dare not go to close even with the sword!!");

}

can become

Code: ags

if (player.ActiveInventory == imatches) Display("No good using matches!!");
if (player.ActiveInventory == itorch2) Display("No good using a torch!!");
if (player.ActiveInventory == isword) Display("You dare not go to close even with the sword!!");

It doesn't make any difference to how it works in the long run, it just makes your script easier to read.
