Thanks Matti and Muc! I haven't had a chance to try anything yet, but I read through some object dragging and dropping threads so I think I know what needs to be done now. I'll edit soon with details on whether it worked.

I'm working on a one room game at the moment where the player can choose some decorations to place upon a Christmas tree. I have a couple of problems though:

- First off, I have a rough idea of how the decorations will be placed. At the bottom of the screen will be a tray with different varieties of baubles, which the player drags out of the box and places them upon the tree. But how can I code this?

- Secondly, after the player has clicked on the finish button, how do I screenshot their decorated tree and save it as a picture file. (In the game folder, but ideally on their desktop).

Thanks for any help in advance.

I joined the APS (Apostrophe Protection Society) straight after that broadcast, because Im really scared that one day all the apostrophe's will be used in the wrong place. But oh well.

Thank you again for both the entries, and now is the time to cast your votes! Voting will end on Monday 30th November with the winner (hopefully) being announced on the 1st of December.

Read carefully and then vote! :)

It's great you've planned it out, but yes, Chicky made a good point. I quickly made an example to show a few places where you could tidy up the lines. Make sure you use your recatangle tool more! :P Here:

I'm interested what the character art will be like?

"Bring your family closer ... to heaven" is ultimately the worst catchphrase I've ever heard. It's clear this is a joke but it's really funny! :D Plus has anybody else noticed that those controllers are furry?

Super entry Wyz, and thanks for putting Competition back into Fortnightly Writing! ;) If anybody would like to enter, is going to enter, or has even just thought about entering, then now is the time to do so. You have until 11:59pm GMT to post your entries, but I'll give a bit of leeway if you're geographically unable to make the deadline. Have fun!

They've already managed to build a chunnel from Britain to France but the train that takes you there isn't very luxury. :-[ I propose the train from GB to USA has perspex walls, SCUBA stop offs, and more than one toilet which you don't have to walk through the whole train to get to!  >:(

Yes, if I didn't know you were putting on the accent then I definitely wouldn't know. Incidentally there is a branch of linguistics that deals with accents (dialectology). I saw on the TV about this man who imitated his father's voice over the phone to withdraw thousands from his pater's account. Upon smelling a rat the police drafted in a dialectologist to study the phone calls. He spotted the slips in accent, and sunshine was locked away.

I wish I could do british. British accents are coolest.

Just look down your nose at everyone and you've got it! ;)

Eric could be secretly racing Layne (great name for a rival by the way) to discover the killer. But as the game progresses you gradually learn Eric is the killer, who got angry in one of his drunken states (for whatever reason). Therefore Eric has a choice - frame somebody else for it, or try to cover up what he discovered and leave Layne stumped.

That way the player gets to choose which path they want to take half way through, after Eric has discovered the truth through interrogations etc. It's just a thought, and I prefer ending number 2 to 1. I think that it might be good if Eric goes out on this wild goose chase, and then in the end it turns out to be none of the suspects (i.e. the ghost). This could be quite comic but also quite infuriating to the player after all their hard work.

EDIT: I made an application with AGS that was built to remedy writer's block... but I wouldn't prescribe it. :)

Heh, two forums form an alliance to make a fan game. That's cool!

Even if I saw 1,000,000 years into the future, and found humans still living on Earth, in the end it makes no difference how and when our species become extinct. There may be an incalculable number of planets like ours that have already ceased to exist somehow. But it's the suffering more than anything we should be worried about. The pains of 6.3 billion people is more important than survival for another 1000 years, only to be destroyed by our own machines.

In the meantime let's play games about it! :)

That's great! Perhaps the rhythm becomes slightly uneven at some parts towards the end, but it's a very strong entry.

How would the cobblestones look if they were laid the other way, like in your example of the Prague road? At the moment, with them horizontally, you could (if you were quite stupid) think it was the rock strata under the ground. This isn't helped by the razor edge line of the curb either.

As for the foot-high windows, I think they are more prevalent in Victorian architecture, which might be helpful if you want to date your street. (If of course it was built in Victorian England).

There's one week left on this competition folks, so if you'd like to enter then now is the time to do so!

P.S. What usually happens if nobody enters by the closure date?

Happy birthday CJ, and thanks for such a wonderful program!

Excellent, I like the fact it is in black and white, and the plot sounds very good as well. Good luck!

Will there be martian babes?

Some ideas:
- Fill the gap
- Hangman
- Flipcard revision
- Select from list
- Audio revision
- Type answers

And will it be windowed, or fullscreen? Which age will you design it for?
