The Rumpus Room / Re: The AGS Stickam Room

One thousandth post!!!

Edit: Sorry, I just had to do it...

It makes me so proud to see my creations all over the place! :) Thanks for letting me have the honour of making them, and well done everybody on their stories - they all turned out excellent!

I never knew that Yoshi was the interior designer for Insurance International... :)

That brief description has me hooked!

I have some suggestions for making it more unkempt. The flat is pretty grotty how it is, but perhaps the carpet/lino can have some ugly holes in, and show the floor boards underneath? The ceiling light looks modern-ish, but could be a plain bulb hanging down from a wire. Scattering some rubbish around the place (particularly on the table) would be nice too, and the sofa could have some springs bursting through.

I wish I could draw. :(

I promise this will be the last BBC-News-related-thread, but I was reading this, and wondered what other people think about children with an IQ fifty times their age, (or whatever :)).

Three languages, muscial instruments and an A* at eight. With a name like Xavier the first thing that came into my head was "poor, pushed child" but seemingly not. But is it really nature or is it just nurture? It would be interesting to see what other people think, anyway.

Stee: I probably confused you, sorry. Just post which one out of the two you like best.

You've gone and told us now... :)

I'm going to vote for Shpritz 2000, Be Quiet, and Oran's Awakening.

I really like how Find Therma has described his world. The writing really flows, so you can't stop reading half way through. So, my vote goes to him. They're all excellent, mind you.

There's a contribution thread here too.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Big-eyed alien

Am I right in thinking that the alien is quite a moody and slovenly character? (If an alien he is). The walk cycle made me think that. Maybe a motif on the t-shirt might work well?

I really like the pixel girls, too, they would work especially well in some kind of sim game. They're perfect and game-ready, in my opinion.

Me too, I've posted in this thread before but it's so good it warrants two posts! Willow is a very interesting character, and you can guarantee I'll be responsible for +1 on the download counter. :)

That's very true, although when saying 'without violence', I meant strikes or boycotts. That is still a rebellion, but I agree uprisings with violence are more likely to be successful.

UK: whisky
Canadian: whisky
Kentucky: bourbon whiskey
Irish: whiskey

My dictionary never lets me down. :) Although I'm not too sure what bourbon whisky is....

bourbon |ˈbərbən|
noun
a straight whiskey distilled from a mash having at least 51 percent corn in addition to malt and rye.

Ah, thanks dictionary!

Civil wars are more organised than rebellions - civil war is a power struggle between citizens of the same country. To take the example of the English Civil War, King Charles I was using his power to manipulate and control parliament, which they didn't like. A few other factors sparked the declaration of war. Religion, the banishment of parliament for 11 years, and at the very end the arrest of five MPs who King Charles locked up for treason. The King and Parliament, now officially detached and at war, rallied their forces. Noblemen and countrymen (who were no doubt owned by the noblemen) joined under the King's banner, the Cavaliers. Parliamentarian forces were constituted of Scots, Puritans, and people who lived in the cities (who would feel the influence of Paliament).

Rebellion is an uprising or deliberate resistance of authority , typically by lower classes, who fight to overthrow their leader/government. Also, rebellion doesn't nessecarily mean violence is involved.

I should probably say that my entry is hiding at the top, just in case it's missed in voting, or whatever. :)

Bristol Museum has a one off Banksy exhibition which is worth seeing, especially as it's closing in a fortnight. Entry is free as well. Depends whether you like that, but I guess some of his work can be quite amusing, if the joke's on your side, of course. :) Also at the museum is lots of other stuff, such as a nice rock and fossil collection. Pretty much a standard museum but with added Banksy. You might have to queue for a while mind you.

It's called a clitoris: the only organ in the human anatomy (incl. males and females) that serves no pertinent function

Don't forget the appendix, which could/could not have been useful for the digestion of cellulose at some point in our history. And look at your hands - those stunted connections of skin between your fingers could be devolved webs? From when we rose out of the sea?

I don't believe anything any which way, mind you.

It would be good if you animated the tail both in the walk cycle, and possibly for the idle sprite? The tail looks too stiff and pointed, especially at the bottom. If it was more rounded and bushy everything would be fine, in my opinion.

Other than the tail it's good.
