Ive noticed that theres a mssive surge in films about ruined earths recently - elysium, oblivion, after Earth.... it seems to be really in vogue at the moment, and none of them really lived up to my expectation.

Hi guys,

Some of you may remember me working on a fantasy text game that I started a couple of years ago, the WiP title was Text Quest.  Well, I started university last week, and as much as it hurts to give up something I've invested so many hours in, I now think it's very very unlikely I'll ever be able to finish it how I envisioned it.

So, not wanting to see all that effort go to waste, I'd like to donate the files to somebody/a team who could turn it into a great game of their own. I would also be willing for somebody with the expertise to turn it into a self-contained module, or some kind of plugin if that's possible.

I've done all the groundwork so atm it's a fully functional text RPG game. I had fantasy in mind although it could be used for any genre. It could make a kick-ass detective text-game. The 'engine' includes:

- Text-drawing to a main window, fully customisable font/colours etc
- Scrollable text window at two different speeds
- Image drawing
- Perfect for a sprawling game world
- Aggressive/passive/unique NPCs
- Inventory and equipment system
- Can generate minimap and full-view map of the game world
- Randomised dungeon generator, coded by Khris
- Full quest mechanism with markers
- Followers and mounts
- Basic day/night cycle
- "Smart" text parser that has a best guess at which NPC/object you want to interact with, based upon everything in the room
- Full 'dialog' mode so you can talk with NPCs

An OLD example screenshot - the minimap appears in the top left.

The only thing missing is a combat system, but I created provisions for one such as levels, armour ratings, NPC hostility. Aside from that, it does require a bit of general tidying and bug-hunting but as I say it's playable atm - I just haven't added any rooms, quests, or NPCs!

Preferably I would like somebody who is well-known around the forums who already has game-making experience, only because I really want to see something finally come to fruition after all this time :-D

If you are interested please post here or PM me.

Thanks
Atelier

Edit: I'm surprised I forgot to mention, there are four fantastic orchestral tracks written for the game, including a main theme, composed by Jon Babb (bosa).

Not being British, there is something that I don't get: how do MPs actually vote on such matters? In an 'overt' way (rising their hands, etc.) or not (casting vote in a ballot box, electronic procedure, etc.).

It's Westminster, so voting certainly isn't done electronically :P I went on a tour of the Houses of Parliament a couple of days ago, it's surprising how behind the times and how many old traditions remain.

So, when the Speaker calls for a vote, and there is an audible division in opinion (people shout 'aye' and 'no' to the motion), he shouts "clear the lobby". This lobby is the central one connecting the Lords and Commons chambers. It needs to be cleared because this is where those abstaining from the vote can gather, and where everybody eventually passes through. A bell sounds throughout Westminster then MPs have 8 minutes to arrive before the doors are shut and they cannot vote.

The voting MPs file out of the Commons chamber and go down two separate corridors parallel to either side of the Commons: an "aye" corridor and a "no" corridor. The MPs are literally counted by clerks at desks, as they pass through the exit of the corridor. There are three lanes dividing up the alphabet for surnames, to make it easier to count people. I assume their names are taken down for reference but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't. Either way, the system makes it difficult for votes to be truly confidential.

Then the clerks pass their count to the chamber where it's read out.

My question:

The music video is solely a man reading the lyrics scrolling up on a screen in front of him. The text is mirrored cos he's facing us.. anybody know which song this is?
