Sweet, out of interest, how many of you are planning to come for sure so far?

Wahayy everyone who's contributed so far thank you :) please keep spreading the word.

Legally no, especially if the name is Trademarked ( which is the whole point of Trademarks), Trademarks will sometimes limit their scope to products of a similar type and usually can't cover generic words ( though for a while a company owned the rights to the word Edge related to games -_-). Also why would you deliberately confuse your game with another? The board game thing is a good point and would cover the similar product, didn't Double Fine have to rename Iron Brigade / Trenched because a board game had the same name?

I agree best to use one of the other don't mix. I wouldn't vary spellings for characters from England either consistency is more professional. Despite the difference in spelling those words would be read as sounding the same. In those cases as has been mentioned you make sure the terminology is right as in the whole soccer/football thing, but that's not spelling it's more dialect :)

Trouble is with saying they should have designed it all first is that they'd have to pay for the designers somehow, even Tim Schafer will get paid and that money has to come from somewhere. Staff will be assigned to a project and their wages will get allocated from that project's funds, otherwise publisher X will want to know why the staff they pay for aren't working on their game.

If it's a co.uk and for personal use, you can opt out of whois for free :)

BTW just to be clear I'm not organising any kind of room share, it's up to folk to sort it out themselves. I am just providing some suggestions :)

My google fu reveals there's a Youth Hostel at St Paul's about 30 min walk away ( keep that in mind if you plan on drinking :P ), so it's not super close but on the other hand it's quite cheap with private rooms at £30 or even less if you are sharing.

They changed Mona's voice it's in the video. Vampyre story was OK but I don't feel inclined to back this.

On the upside since you did't see this there was extra cake, so I had two slices.

If any London based AGS folks are about, I just found out there's a LucasArts party today.

This is looking great!

Stu I don't think they were making fun of you I think they were just being playful. Pretty good you got a reply, even if it's not the one you were looking for.

I went to the DF Cave livestream, and it seemed that Ron Gilbert wanted to rest for a bit after The Cave. There's an archive of the stream up on the DF Game Club page.. The lack of updates can seem frustrating, but we wanted to see real game development and this is what it's like.

Since you have commercial games under your belt then I am pretty sure some companies would consider you. Have you looked for any companies near to you, a lot of games companies will pay relocation but their willingness to do so may depend on how bigger risk they think you are.

http://www.gameindustrymap.com/ is a good place to look. You might also want to check out the indie game scene where you are, get going to events and you'll be able to work out what companies are local.

It also depends on what jobs you want to apply for.
Another thing to consider is the hours, some of the working weeks I have clocked up have been insane which at some pits left me little time for personal stuff but it's something that I knew going in. You also want to check your contracts some employers will try to claim rights over anything you make (even in your own time) whilst employed by them. So any job you do get you need to make sure your personal work is safe.

Oh and I don't know if this is relevant, but 22Cans (Peter Molyneux's new studio) has a thing saying it's open to work experience. I doubt it will be paid, but might be worth a shot if you really want to make sure it's what you want to do.  :)

Has anyone who opposed tried putting an obvious disclaimer " Don't redistribute without permission?" and see what happens? I also recommend adding in a " if you didn't download this from the AGS site report it to me" message in the game folder too.
That said it looks like they have an automated feed somehow from AGS ( http://www.softpedia.com/user/help.shtml#softwaresubmission ) if you look at the submission thing it seems someone ( or they) have set up the feed from the AGS database and it's grabbing the games automatically. In which case it may need an AGS admin to sort it out, that said if most people are happy with the situation would it be possible to have a 'omit game from RSS feed' option that lets people reduce the chances of their games getting taken?

It's kind of sad, there are not many publishers willing to put boxed adventure games out. Then again I wonder if it's really viable if this kinda mess occurs?
