well i've not really dabbled with the parser in AGS, but I have dabbled with limited palettes and it's not really that difficult. i set myself up a palette to use in my paint app that has all the colours that AGS uses for the interface and stuff already loaded into it in the correct slots and i always add any new colours from the last slot and work my way backwards.
but you don't really have to use a limited palette in AGS, there's not really any need to unless you want to use some of the 8bit palette effects like colour cycling or changing a certain colour on the fly (which i actually plan on using to allow players to customise the character in a future game), so you could just use a limited palette in your paint app and leave the game in 16bit mode.

General Discussion / Re: About free e-books :)

there are also sites with actual free ebooks, i downloaded the complete works of H.P. Lovecraft, a bunch of Yeats's poetry and Ninteen Eighty-Four from some australian one.
admittedly all the books on that site were really old, but books is books.

I use clamwin after avg kept spamming me to update to their new resources eating version.

I use AVG but i always disable everything so it isn't eating up resources, and then if i want to update or scan i just re-enable them all or just reinstall it.

Yeh, for now it's like a Brittens for the Stickam/TokBox community people.
But you never know, it could become an alternate event for everyone, but right now we're interested in keeping it to the Stickam/TokBox regulars because we already all know eachother.

I really wanted to try get a bigger place, but there aren't that many that sleep more than 6 for a reasonable price, the place where it's booked for now does have an adjoining cottage for larger parties, but that adds an additional £550 to the price, so that wouldn't be a viable option unless there were an additional 6 people, plus I don't know if it has already been booked or not.

But like I said, next year we'll definitely be looking at bigger places and getting it all arranged and booked as early as possible, and we'll most likely have it somewhere outside of the UK.
Another thing to keep in mind is that there is always the possibility a space might become available if one of the current six can't make it, so we're not exactly counting all our chickens just yet.

And although we definitely could get more than 6 people inside the cottage with sleeping bags and/or inflatable beds, it is listed as sleeping 6 and I'm not sure the owner of the property would appreciate it if more than 6 people turned up, especially when they could make some extra money with the adjoining cottage.

And if people really do have their heart set on coming there's always the option of Bed & Breakfasts in the area (I'm not sure if there are any, but I could find out) for them to stay in. You don't have to sleep with the rest of us to take part during the day :P
Or if there are 3+ additional people that want to come and can afford to you could always enquire about the adjoining cottage, the owner of the propery can be contacted through the website I linked to in the first post and you know the dates, and you never know, because it would basically be the same party it might be offered at a reduced price (and even if it's only 2 people I think there is a reduction available for couples :P).

It really is a bugger that the bigger place wasn't available for the dates we had in mind, and because it was left so late we couldn't really bring the date forward because it would have left less time for saving up, and September or later wasn't really an option because some of us are still at school and wouldn't have been able to make it. And any later than that and it would have been quite a cold holiday.

In hindsight it would have been a good idea to get this thread started earlier, possibly back when we first started talking about meeting up, but that can be put down to a lack of experience in arranging these things and next year we'll know better.

I really am sorry to have disappointed anyone that wanted to come along.

i don't know of any useful sites, but there is this extremely informative video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAaWebdey5E

Hah, it would be really neat to do that, but broadband (or internet of any kind) isn't listed under what's available at the cottage, so it's not very likely unfortunately.

Right, as some people already know, the original plans for Stickens have been cancelled and will now be held in a different location, which we now know to be... Brookside Caravan Park, in Lynminster, West Sussex (which is close to Littlehampton, Obi's hometown).

The accommodation has changed slightly too, after unsuccesfully trying to arrange for a 6 person chalet (fully booked) and then a 4 person holiday bungalow (no reply from owner), and the time for getting a place for August running short, we will now be staying in a 4 berth caravan. The date, 8th to 15th of August remains the same.

I know it's a bit of a step down from a cottage on the Scottish borders and means that even less people can come, but it does now work out cheaper, and very few people were able to come with the original plan anyway.
Plus I see this as less of a holiday and more of a get together, which means it's more about the people than the place.

So right now we have 3 people staying on site (Bicilotti, Sylvr and myself), which means there is room for one more person, but you have to bear in mind that although this is a 4 person caravan there are only two double beds, and I really don't expect Sylvr to share with a strange male from the internet. The other double bed is made up by re-arranging cushions and sliding a thinger out from underneath the seats in the main area, and I suspect it can be re-arranged to make two single beds also.
However, the owner of this caravan does also have another 4 person caravan on the same site for £360 a week, so if more people were interested in coming it is still available for booking, but it's only really practical if atleast 3 additional people can come, and they'd have to decide they want to pretty soon before it's booked.
In addition to the three staying there we'll also have frequent visits from/to Obi as he lives nearby, and also Stupot said he may be able to drop in as he lives over in East Sussex.

Over the coming weeks (and hopefully with Obi's help) I'll be drawing up a list of local activities, places to eat and possible daytrips to nearby locations, so that we have an idea of what we can get up to while we're there without having to spend half the time deciding or wandering about :)

Santa hats are still a requirement...

Politically-correct-to-a-point-of-no-sense nazi watchdogs are what makes reg-debates so awful in this forum.
So let's not.

actually it's the fact that religious debates are both pointless and can never be carried out in a civilised or mature manner without people just quoting stuff they've read on wikipedia.
#113
oh fucking hell, the last thing this forum needs is another damn religious debate.
just because you're an atheist doesn't mean you have to be a prick about other beliefs.
really, a section on religion should be added to the forum signup quiz, or be an addition to the 'Three golden rules' here in gengen.
