okay, i know there's somewhat of a trial of Tokbox going on, but i thought for sake of easyness i'd create a stickam room http://www.stickam.com/member/loadChatRoom.do?roomId=923232

www.tokbox.com is looking to be a suitable candidate

Stickam have actually made their API available for everyone to download at http://www.stickam.com/api.do?sknewsltrref=200812 so now we could make our own stickam :D
somehow...

A Stickam room

that's because no matter what you used it with the player character would just say "That doesn't work." :D

I beat DOTT, Sam & Max Hit The Road, Beneath A Steel Sky, and Wayne's World all without walkthroughs or hints.
But anytime I do have to look at a walkthrough or use a hint system I always justify it by saying either "I would have figured that out eventually" or "How the hell was I suppose to figure that out?!".
One game I can't beat without or even WITH a walkthrough though is Feeble Files, because it's a damn hard game that was designed to be damn hard.

Oh come, all ye faithful http://www.stickam.com/member/loadChatRoom.do?roomId=905371

edit: gah, stickam is being a pain again, i got booted from the room and now i've got the unusual problem of just being presented with a blank page, so the room will probably die before i manage to get back in :/

edit part deux: as soon as i typed that it started working again :\

the return of edit: and pretty soon after it started working again it stopped :|

the son of edit: well the room died before i managed to get into it again, so i'm creating a new one and if this one doesn't work i'm just giving up for the night.

yeh that was one gripe i had too (i tend to collide with stuff a LOT in driving games), either a grinding feature like suggested or just bouncing back a little bit once you hit something would be nice.
but it really is a great little game and a marvellous piece of scripting.

hurrah!
i'm quite looking forward to Fatman 2 after buying and enjoying the original, i've been meaning to get round to buying another copy of it after losing mine (and the sticker that came with it :()

well it does say this on Abandonia:

"Technical note:

You’ll need the new DOSBox 0.65 to play this game!!!

You should speed it up to 12000 cycles.

Be careful about the sound configuration (if you select Soundblaster or comp. the game may freeze)."

and although it's not listed as being supported in version 0.72 of dosbox, a user comment there says that it does.

i'm gonna download and try it out, although i have 0.70 and not 0.72

edit: okay, it works fine for me apart from some sound glitches (although i've only actually watched the intro, not played it), did you actually run the setup.exe before you tried playing it?

urgh, the last room died on it's arse for no apparent reason, leaving me in it wondering why nobody was entering.
so here is a new one http://www.stickam.com/member/loadChatRoom.do?roomId=889762

this is from the FEAR wikipedia article "64 MB GeForce 4 Ti or Radeon 9000 or equivalent with hardware T&L and PS, DirectX 9.0c April edition", so it will be able to run it.
i don't really know much about PCI graphics cards as i haven't used one of those since about 1998, it really is cheap of Dell to not include AGP and really limits the potential for upgrading.
also watch out for cards that are listed as being PCI because some people are a bit thick and will list PCI Express as being PCI cards.
but it seems as if there actually are PCI models of the 6200 so it could be worth getting.

i'd rather see more of it on PC, for free. even though i really liked the game i don't think i'd pay for it if it were on PSN (even if i did have a PS3, and if i did buy one i wouldn't be able to afford anything ever again), or Xbox Live Marketplace.
although it'd probably be perfect for Wii or DS.
but personally i'd rather these type of console services where you buy points to spend on games there are free alternatives to online would just go away to be honest.

decent AGP cards are getting increasingly hard to find new these days, and second hand ones are usually overpriced.
nVidia stopped making AGP cards ages ago, the last one being the GeForce 7900. i think that ATi/AMD may still make them however, or atleast were making them until more recently.
depending on how much you want to spend i'd say go for atleast a GeForce 6200 (and i'd avoid anything ended with GS unless it's the 7900GS) or Radeon 9600 (Pro and XT are the better models, XT being the best).
personally i have a 7600GS which is pretty shoddy and i only got it because my 6800GT (very awesome card) went bonkers.
and yeh, Portal is worth playing, i played through it on the Xbox 360 and rather enjoyed it.
