yeh, what hajo said.
just be sure to set the jumper on the back of the drive (little plastic thing on some pins surrounded some other pins) to the slave position and you may also have to go into your BIOS to check for a 'auto-detect hard drives' or similar option so that the motherboard actually knows it's there.
and even though you can get surge protectors and UPS it's always best to unplug your pc and phone during a thunderstorm because all them millions of volts aren't really going to either of them any good.

OH NOES! TEH GRAFICX ARE HORRIBLEB!
you do realise that the Wii isn't as powerful as the 360 and PS3 right? it's slightly more powerful than the gamecube hence the low price, and it's aimed more at the casual gamer.
plus the graphics for any game are down to the competance of the programmers with the hardware they work with, compare most games made early in a console's life to those made a few years on and most of the time they look better, just look at the difference between GTA3 and GTA:SA, or even the PS2 version of Just Cause, it ain't as pretty as the xbox, 360 or pc versions but they've made it look the best they possibly can with the hardware.
if all you care about is pretty get yourself a high spec pc and two £500 graphics card.

Sektor was asking about the linux version of AGS. But I think we got the answer.
I would guess that either AgsCreditz.dll is corrupt; or you don't have some DLLs that AgsCreditz relies on, and that are part of the standard Windows distribution from Win2k on.

i know for a fact this game runs on win98se so that's not likely to be it, but it could be he's running the first edition which may be missing some stuff but it's a long shot...

apparently they're working on a commercial version...

General Discussion / Re: The cost of art?

i'd never consider selling anything i made for much more than it cost me to make it in the first place.
an item is only worth how much somebody is willing to pay for it, personally i can't see how any painting or photograph is worth much money, especially the ones that are supposedly worth millions.

it looks as if the hand is anti-aliased, AGS will only make colour you select transparent so your picture will end up like that, i'm not sure if antialising works for cursors it might just be characters and objects but you'd have to check the manual to find out for sure.

i can actually see a few games being made about this subject, like the new roger confronting the old one, and the old one winning or something like that...  :)

wow, i'm totally surprised nobody has mentioned Deluxe Paint 2 yet :D
personally i do everything in Paintshop Pro and sometimes play around in mspaint.

the problem with that sprite is that it isn't roger, roger is as much a part of AGS as CJ is and plays an important part in coaxing people into using AGS. i mean, if you opened up AGS and it was filled with expertly drawn sprites and a flashy interface you'd feel kinda put off if you weren't too good at art, but instead of that you get a bland interface and the rather pathetic and hopeless looking roger, and that's why i love AGS and think roger is perfect the way he is.

i was originally going to use SetPalRGB and UpdatePalette, but as i am terrible with timers i decided my way was easier, each colour is only repeated 3 times, but there are 8 of them, luckily the game itself only uses 16 colours, but if i wanted to use more then a way to control CyclePalette speed would be really great as i can see myself using this feature more often for simple animation, i'm using it to animate painted white lines on a road which would otherwise be a 7 frame animation which would be doable as an animated object as the animation doesn't really take up much space on the background and only add another 20k to the file size, but i want to play around with using it to animate on a larger scale some day (such as water/waves like in older games).
i'll experiment with your code a little later on, maybe a module could be developed to save CJ adding a feature very few people would use...
#576
that's because it's in your mouth!  :D

i think a non-blocking alternative or setting to Wait would be handy for when people want a delay between actions taking place in Repeatedly_Execute_Always (such as two characters having a looping conversation in the background) for those of us who are not that experienced with either timers or custom functions.

a way to change the speed of CyclePalette (although it is hardly ever used by anyone) other than changing the game speed would be nice too as the way i'm slowing it down now is by including repeating colours in the cycle next to eachother.
#578
then why not just shut up about it then?
#579
yeh, this is an awesome game, i bet you couldn't make one even half as good!

my entry is slightly large so i'll just show this thumbnail which, when clicked upon, will (hopefully) take you to the full size extravaganza!
