Okay, a little update for everyone.
It's look as if Stickens will now be taking place in Littlehampton, West Sussex (which is Obi's hometown) inside a 4 person caravan located at a caravan park - bit of a step down from a 6 person cottage on the scottish border I know, but it's not the place it's the people. The dates are also the same as before (8th to 15th August).

The same person also has another 4 berth caravan on the same site for any additional people, although as it is there are still only 3 people who will be staying for the duration, with Obi living nearby and Stupot saying he may come through from his town in East Sussex to visit for a day.

So we're really still looking for an additional person to join us at the caravan to help spread the cost, which is either £330 or £360 depending on which of the two caravans we pick. So if any stickamer/tokboxer is interested in and can stay for the week get in touch asap.

if they do ban all violent games then it'll be interesting to see what they blame the next shooting on.
i really do dislike the way (as it seems to an outsider anyway) that Germany kinda throws a blanket over and just tries to censor/ban violent things.
i'm not entirely sure but isn't anything to do with teaching kids about nazis illegal - or is that just nazi imagery?
and they do say that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, but then again they also say that the only thing we learn from history is that we don't learn from history (and the second one is probably more true anyway).

it's also stupid how the media in all countries ignores the large amount of people playing games the very small amount of people who play games and go on to commit a violent act, and given how many people play videogames these days it's not surprising to find that somebody owns atleast one violent one.
it's really all too easy to blame games for bad decisions that people make rather than face the truth that some people just aren't good people to begin with or are turned bad by the actions of other bad people, and it's always exclusively violent actions that are connected with videogames - you never see Sim City being blamed for poor decisions made by politicians.

and while people may say "oh well the real problem is guns" (and i used to be one of those people) you have to realise that the popularity of guns, especially that of america, is more widespread and spread across a larger age range than that of videogames, and still there are very few shootings by people who either own guns legally or otherwise. and you know what? you could even argue that if more people had guns the casualty count of school/workplace/public shootings would be a lot less because people would open fire on the gunman.

and personally i don't think games are becoming too violent, i just think the way they portray it is becoming increasingly ridiculous and unrealistic, and as such i don't actually consider it violence at all.
pillowfights are more violent than videogames, but there are no calls to ban pillows.

Engine Development / Re: AGS Wii Port?

i recently got a DS and have absolutely no desire to use or play AGS games on it, and the same goes for my Wii.
you have a PC, what's wrong with using AGS on that?

I personally feel as if the reflections should be removed, they look very tacky (as does the glowing around the lettering).

you could always stop being lazy and perhaps google it, or maybe even contact the technical support department of the monitor manufacturer themselves.

Okay, there's been talk recently about postponing Stickens due to a lack of attendees against the price of the cottage and travelling to it.
But I'm happy to say that for now it is not postponed and it looks as if there won't be a need to really, but the destination has changed. I am currently looking at places in the South East of England and have already made enquiries into properties in West Sussex. These places cost less for the week, and travel is lessened by close proximity to Gatwick Airport, but they are of atleast equal size to the original cottage, or in some cases they are smaller with a maximum of 4 people - but as we currently only have 4 potential attendees that's really not shaping up to be an issue just yet. But I will try my best to find somewhere with more space to accomodate more people if they decide they want to/can come, and just to make sure we're all as comfortable as possible.
If West Sussex fails then I will look elsewhere and the the possibility of a caravan park (current site I'm using to find places doesn't include caravans), but I am trying to keep the cost as low as possible for everyone, right now the most expensive place I've enquired about is £350 for the week with the cheapest being £330 (one cheaper place is available at £200 a week, but with a minimum stay of 2 weeks and a preference to 3).

Anyway, once I have more solid information to share with everyone I'll send out PMs and redo the first post.

Oh yeh, I'm looking at booking the same dates (8th to 15th of August) but I have specified that any week - with the exception of the week starting the 29th (one place had this date available but it's no good for Sylvr) - in August is good, and that the last week of July would also be acceptable (if it isn't okay with one of the definites then let me know as soon as possible).
