if it's a good game then it's worth the download no matter what size it is but it can depend on what is taking up all the space. for example, if you have a fairly small game but with mp3 music and speech it's probably best to do what they did with king's quest and offer them as seperate downloads.
but personally as long as i have the drive space i'll download it, but if people with dialup don't want to just because they have dialup then they need to stop feeling sorry for themselves...

Kinda off topic, but does anyone know how to extract them midis out of the wad files? I tried some wad editors, but I was either too stupid to figure them out or they crashed a lot. The one that did work had an option to edit the music, but not save/load it to/from the disk

DOOM doesn't use midis, it uses MUS files, i think something like Multi Ripper 2.80 might be able to extract stuff from the WADs, and i'm pretty sure there are a few MUS to MID convertors around, plus you can probably find all the doom music as midi files if you search around.

i've had doom builder sitting on my hard drive for quite a while now but have never really tried it out.
i used to play doom over DC quite a lot when i first got it, back then the future of it was uncertain as the main server was being shut down but i guess it didn't in the end, i haven't played doom for a while now but i keep meaning to re-install DC and have some fun, i mostly used to play DOOM2 co-op on ultra violent, which was very fun

Modplug has the ability to save to mp3 or wav, but I don't remember if you can save to .ogg. But you can still easily convert to ogg through another program

the mp3 output in modplug sucks, it's limited to 96KHz, but then again convert a mod/s3m/xm/it to mp3/ogg makes you scum anyway...

i'd recommend Skale Tracker over ModPlugTracker, Skale is still in beta but it has a lot of nice features, i haven't tried making midis with it yet but the option to output midi is there, it can also output OGG. http://www.skale.org/

i recently had a similar problem when i got a normal combined router and modem.
i discovered it was because i was still running my software firewall as the router has it's own hardware firewall.
if the router has a hardware firewall see if you can disable it, but only if you have a software firewall running aswell. although it's most likely if it does have a firewall you won't be able to disable it as manafacturers seem to think everyone is stupid.

well, freedom of speech has to work both ways, if somebody is entitled to say what they want then everyone else should be entitled to say what they want also and not have to make exceptions.
and i know people are ready to flame me, and it's always the same few people that do it and if i were to be honest i'd say i look forward to the predictable and juvenile comments, i have the sense not to "flame" people when they say something i disagree with but i won't resort to just telling them to shut up and/or calling them stupid because quite frankly i'm past that stage in my mental development.
now, if i've somehow indirectly offended bluke4x4 then i apologise, if i have openly offended anyone then i don't, if i was sorry i wouldn't have said it in the first place and am mature enough to know that saying sorry doesn't make a blind bit of difference.

i read an article in PC Gamer the other day about the Doom movie, apparently the original script the guy wrote has been completely changed as it has entered the hands of a hollywood type person who's just turning it into a generic hollywood sci-fi action film, and i bet you they get some dick like ben affleck to play the doom guy.
i think they should get stallone or kurt russel to play him, or atleast an older actor so you actually get the impression he's a veteran...
the real main problem with making movies from games is the time factor, a game can have like 20 hours of play and movies are generally 100 to 120 minutes long (i said generally, so no "lord of the rings is 800 hours long" stuff), so they have to condense 20 hours down into a suitable movie length, which means they end up with the "starts off okay, something happens, guy kills some bad guys, somebody gets captured, guy kills more bad guys, guy kills big bad bad guy, guy rescues person, guy and person kiss, credits roll" equasion.
and i bet you when/if the doom movie gets made the character can only use the BFG once, and it'll be right at the end of the movie to kill the main bad dude...
