some more words: half-life, deus ex, call of duty, battlefield 1942...
those games are about more than picking up a gun and shooting everything that moves, i think it's mostly non-FPS fans that thing all FPS games are about just shooting everything, it's true that for much of the 90s they were just about shooting things and not much else, and there are FPS being made today that are about shooting first and making up answers later, but, it's what people like and want, and who can take that away from people? nobody.

This week, your task is, through the art of music, to portray the misadventures of... a teddybear, from his (or her) escape from a child's room, to venturing outside, getting into a bit of trouble and being saved just in the nick of time by the child...

good luck and may the tuning fork be with you.

General Discussion / Re: SIM's Fans Out There?
Mon 13/09/2004 23:16:45
only bad things about the sims 2 is that they're using SafeDisc 3, which unfortunately is becoming popular, it "blacklists" certain cd emulation software so that if the game detects it running, it won't load until you've disabled it, which if you ask me is just asking for people to crack your software, i don't know why the makers of these virtual cd programmes (it's mostly CloneCD users that have problems with it) don't take legal action against the makers of SafeDisc 3 (Macromedia i think)...
another sucky thing is that there are no signs of a Special Edition DVD version of the game on any of the british stores, the links on thesims2.com just link to american stores, and amazon.com won't ship the dvd edition to the uk, which sucks...

General Discussion / this isn't normal, is it?
Wed 08/09/2004 11:26:01
okay, so i just run the latest version of AGS for the first time on this PC, and after running "Test Game" and exiting i was presented with this:

now, this is the first time i've seen had this on this PC since i did a clean install just over a week ago.
after closing AGS i loaded up Paintshop, and it also tried to send the same kind of data...
was AGS supposed to do that or has it somehow been infected with a virus (i've tried running a few other apps, and it didn't happen with those)...
#991
you run any anti-virus software lately?
could be a trojan if it happened when you were online...
#992
i just noticed something, shouldn't those dates be 4-9-2004 to 11-9-2004...
#994
well, RONbat was my idea, but Iqu was working on it, so he's the best person to ask
#995
i found some AGS games on the coverdisc of Retro Gamer, but no actual mention of AGS itself...

You can't just tell someone to get software that costs money.. and don't assume they want to pirate, either ;)

systemworks doesn't cost that much, and i am totally 100% against piracy, my pirating nearly every piece of software i own is merely in retaliation of piracy, the only way to deal with these nasty pirate people is to keep using pirated products and perhaps then they'll learn!!!

say no piracy kids, it'll make you impotent

if you're harddrive is formatted as NTFS you don't need to defrag that often, also the default defrag tool is a pile of crap, get Norton Systemworks and run SpeedDisk, it's better and faster than defrag, plus it has all sorts of other nifty utils

i believe shbazjinkens was talking about leaving laptops on 24/7, i agree that leaving a desktop on 24/7 make sense, but i wouldn't leave a laptop on for that long, same as you're not really supposed to leave consoles on that long, the smaller space creates more heat and it's not so easy to add additional fans to a laptop, the simple solution is to just not use a laptop as your main pc and always keep a spare pc plus discs to keep backups on, a computer is a lot harder to lose and snap than a cd (and a laptop)...
if i were going to get a laptop as a main machine i'd get an Alienware, they use top-notch components (i almost did get an alienware laptop instead of a desktop, but then i saw sense)...
