Is it possible for 1 character to have more than 1 inventory? I ask because I wanted to have a character that can do magic, and the simplest way I found was to have it as another inventory (somewhat like Quest for Glory). Also, AGS claims to be able to have multiple inventories for different characters. How exactly is this done?

I was wondering if it is possible to have different language fonts in AGS. One in particular I found difficult was the arabic or urdu font. It is written from right to left, which I believe can be done, but the problem is that it is like a cursive font. What I mean is that each character would be different depending on the character before and after it. Is it possible to implement this? Also, exactly how many characters are allowed? Would it be possible to have multiple languages? I mean that in the game, the character will meet many people who will speak in different languages.

My previous game attempts suffered because I just thought of a basic plot, drew a BG, scripted it into AGS, and while doing this thought of other rooms and elements to add, drew them, scripted them into AGS..., and so on.
So how exactly should a game be designed for maximum perserverance to completion, quality and structure? Should I do scripting and then add the BGs, should I should I do the sprites along with the BGs or after, when should I start worrying about all the Global variables etc?
Is there some tutorial for game design, or is there some kind soul out there who can help me?

here is my problem. See all my characters? They all look (almost) the same. My characters are all generic. They have the same face, expressions and no individuality. The exceptions (I think) are number 5 and, the one I am most proud of, 6. This is because I made them by shrinking a face from a photograph and clearing it up a bit. It only looks good because he is SUPPOSED to have stubble. So, can someone please give me some tips on how to make them better?

I know it looks all weird, but I wanted it so that there can be few colours (so that I can finally have a reason to learn how to use that palette stuff), and less detailed so that I do not have to work too much and if people complain I can say it is my style :D
Seriously, I wish to make a game using this type of BG, and any C&C would be appreciated

Does anyone know of any site to get full length pictures of people that can be used as bases to draw characters. I mean, I usually use some image search, but sometimes you can't describe properly what you want. Is there some site that someone knows about with a large bunch of photographs of different type people that can be used as bases for characters?

I need help obtaining a name for a character in my game. It needs to be an oriental style name that has something to do with mountains/rocks/stones or stubbornness/hardyness/dependability. Like Yasmin/Jamine means a flower-which has something to do with nature. It would be nice if it is relatively well known (like the Yasmin/Jasmine name). I know some sites where you can get names and find out their meanings, but none where you have meanings and need a name. Also, could someone please help me get think of a shape that represents a desert. Like an upside-down V can represent mountains, or a wavy line can represent water. It needs to be something plausible for a birthmark. I would be really grateful for any help

I made up a story for this game I am planning. As of yet it is all on paper. It is a fantasy type story set in a completely different world.
The world is being invaded by outsiders. A wiseman/wizard guy who is wanting to save his world does some incantation/spell/spiritual call for help and is answered by the spirit of the World's first ruler who tells him that his (the ruler's) blood children must join forces and go to the beginning of the world, where the answers to their problems will be revealed. The ruler was said to have 4 children who went their seperate ways and created 4 seperate clans/tribes that occupy the world. The wiseman/wizard sends out a dream, hoping that the direct descendants of the 4 children answer, as their identities had been lost after all that time. The dream reaches 4 youths, unknown to each other, who make their journey to the wiseman/wizard.
I am satisfied with this as the basic story, but I would not mind some helpful C&C, as it is still all on paper. My problem is that the way I designed the game, most of it will be the JOURNEY of those 4 youths (who will be the player characters), which does not have any direct connection with the actual story. Can I get some help with how to connect it to the story, or add stuff so that it becomes relevant? Thanks in advance..

I just found out that my great great grandfather was the consort of the begum of the princely state of Bhopal in India! He came from a long line of warriors who protected the royal family, all the way up to the companion of the original founder of Bhopal. Sadly, none of the bravado and skill seems to have been passed on to me, except perhaps my urges to stick swords into the faces of a lot of people who annoy me.
I got some book on Bhopal just to learn something about the place of my ancestors, and found my grandfathers name in it, linking to the consort of the begum  :o. I checked the appendix and found out it IS my grandfather. Now I am really digging into the history of my family. There are lots of interesting legends from Bhopal. There is one guy who was said to have been able to hold his breath for 1 hr underwater. That sure beats Guybrush ;D! There is lots of stuff from the history that is going into my big book of ideas. Who knows? Maybe someday it will evolve into an adventure game.
So I wanted to know, anyone know about their lineage? I am not saying I am so great now that I found out I am from a whole line of warriors, but it is fun finding out facts about your family ancestry. I am sure all of you have 2 famous ancestors you know about, from Noah's family(if you believe in that stuff) since everyone except them drowned... and Adam and Eve.

Hello, my name is Babar. I have been a member for a while now, and I even used to frequent the old ags site before it stopped. I lost ags for  a while after that (not being computer literate enough to search for it) ::). I am what is known as a lurker or roamer or something, meaning that I rarely post. I just work with my game (however slowly) and look over the forums trying to learn some stuff.
Coming to the point, I wanted to comment on the behaviour of the members towards so-called "noobs". I mean, come on, give them a break. This people have found something they enjoy, something they can create entertainment with, and they need your help to get started. Sure they may try to act a little  8) at first as they do not know how it all works, but that's no reason to unload on them a barrage of insults and put-downs. Enthusiasm for ags is soon turned into disgust for the 24hr online help. Sure, it may all be meant in fun, but how are they to know that? I mean I've seen conversations that go something like this (Now don't ask me to prove it, this is just an example):

noob> Hey everyone! I love AGS!!!1!!111! can you tell me how to <insert request here>?
elitest member1> lol! STFU noob!
elitest member2>lol elitest member1! noob doesn't know about the fullhiflowdiadox2121{934.3,64,43} command!! STFU Noob!!
noob> sorry, what does the fullhiflowdiadox2121{934.3,64,43} command do?
elitest member1> it does what you want depending on the quasi-mondo diatomic variable you place in the 2nd decimal point of the number that comes before infinity! Any idiot should know that!

Sure they may act stupid in their first few posts, but they are new! They will learn after awhile, that is if you do not scare them off before that. I mean, you want the AGS community to grow, right? You'll have to accept noobs for that. Hey wait a minute!!! What if you don't want them to grow! What if AGS is trying to become a closed elite community that will use AGS to take over the world! Naaa... I don't think so. Therefore be kind to the unhumble noob so he spread the word of adventure and all..
(btw, I don't really consider any ags commands to be as complicated as fullhiflowdiadox2121{934.3,64,43}, but some people may find it a trifle difficult. Also, what does STFU signify? I have seen it used a lot but don't know)

well actually I need music. I want to have some background music in my games. I wanted to do it myself, so I can have that nice credits screen at the end with: Writer: Babloyi, Graphics: Babloyi, Music: Babloyi, Programming: Babloyi etc., with maybe a small bit at the end saying: Just a teensy bit of help from: AGS forums :).
My problem is that I have zero talent for making music. The most I do is increase speed of songs on Sound Recorder and laugh when they sound like a chipmunk. I wanted to know where I can get some program for making music or for ripping tunes off mp3s. Something SIMPLE- meaning easy to use and not having that many complicated features. I don't need stuff like "multi-wave synthesiser morph utility tool doohicky". Just something that can make a few bloops and beeps, or rip music from other files

I am not giving any sprite for criticism, but I have a question. The lead character in my game is a ex-secret agent turned homeless guy. I tried drawing him, but my results were quite boring. Since he is the main character, I want the sprite to exude SOME character. I drew his face a permenant frown, with a torn T-shirt and jeans, but it still is boring. Can I get some help in telling how he can be made more INTERESTING? (Like Guybrush or Indiana or Hoagie are very interesting to look at, their sprites speak of their character)

I am not sure if this is the right place for my problem but... I use photoshop for making backgrounds and when I save them as BMPs I get the option to save them as 16b 24b ir 32b. I usually just leave it at 24b but if I have some stuff like gradients then they appear really badly when I import the graphic to AGS. If I save it as 16b or 32b, then when I import it to AGS a blank green screen appears ??? ! Can anyone tell me how to get around this problem?

I had a problem when trying to implement the following:
I have a room like inside the castle in Last Crusade. It is like an overhead map. I have set some regions, so that if the player walks onto them, a guard is called. The guard reaches the player character, and a dialog is run "Follow me sir" and then I use MoveCharacter blocking to move the player back to a start point. I use FollowCharacter to make the guard follow the player to the point, and when the player gets there, I use another MoveCharacterBlocking to move the guard back to his original position.
I thought it would be simple enough, but I run into alot of problems. Sometimes the guard starts following the character, then moves in another direction (I tried using FollowCharacterEx with eagerness 0 but that did not work either). Sometimes the guard moves to slow, and the player gets to the start point much before the guard, who then turns around and starts going back to his original position.
Any help will be appreciated

There is this part in my game where the character is driving around in a car. I want to disable everything except look and walk icons. Is there a way to disable the inventory icon for that screen and enable it again after the player leaves the screen?

I used run-script 2 in one of my dialogs. In the script I called another dialog with Run-dialog 11. I got an error when I tested the game saying that I was already in one dialog and could not call another, so I put StopDialog in the script before using Rundialog, but I still get the message that I am already in one dialog and cannot call another. I know I am reaally bad at scripting so it is probably something stupid I did, but I need help to get it right

How can I use a parser in a point and click game? There is a part in my game where the character is asked for the password to enter somewhere, but I don't want to put it in the dialog option, cause that will make it too easy (the player could just choose each option until the right one is guessed). So my question is how can I script a parser for that one point in the game, that will accept only the password and not any other words?

This is probably a very stupid reason to start a thread, but I wanted to get this game I got when I was really small. I think it was an adventure game but it had an action sequence in a tank and some sort of fight on the top of a train (sword-fight??).I had it around 91-94??? Anybody know what I am talking about?

I had a problem when my character moved to a new room (the road) and I  changed the view to that of a car. The problem is that if I do nothing for 20 seconds, the idle animation is activated, and my old character view pops up out of the car and winks at the screen. Since that will look really freaky while driving, I wanted to know if there was anyway to disable the idle animations in some screens, but allow it in others. Thansk
