Count me in as well, obviously. A mid-may deadline should be totally doable for what I am working on! :D

Night of the Hermit?

Also....Chicky's Herman Toothrot's Monkey Island?

I'm not really AGAINST Child's Play in any way, but if I decided that I wanted to give to charity, it certainly wouldn't be anywhere near the top of my list. When I am buying a humble bundle, I usually set the Child's Play donation percentage to the least.

What irks me a bit is that it seems to be the default: "Oh, you're a gamer/game-maker? Then you will donate to Child's Play". There ARE (what I would consider to be) loads of more deserving charities.

General Discussion / Re: Megaupload...dead.
Mon 23/01/2012 08:05:43
I dunno..aside from people who had their own upload space on the net, megaupload and mediafire seemed to be the upload sites of choice for most AGS games. It seems inconvenient more than anything else.

I'm not sure what InC means, but as far as I remember it (unless I am mixing it up with something else), megaupload seemed the most convenient of the lot...it didn't have any countdown timer or anything like that before you could download, you just had to enter some captcha. I quit uploading (and using to download) stuff from rapidshare ages ago because it just continuously kept putting more and more blocks in the way to a smooth download.

PS: Loads of other file-sharing websites are running scared now. Some have blocked access to IPs in the US, and some have disabled all "sharing" capabilities (you can only download what you yourself uploaded).

Aside from the very obvious variations on Weird Blade Science Runner, I sometimes don't get if you people are being serious or not :P. It is not F/X anything either.

Ye...no.

Miguel is actually closest to what it is...except his title has nothing to do with the movie :P.

The Wayback Machine has some 900+ images stored starting from 2003. I sometimes waste an afternoon browsing it :D.

Also,
Quote... solving logical puzzles, brain teasers and mini-games ...

That kills all adventure games for me. It sure killed Machinarium...
Yes :(

I don't have an Android phone either, though...

EDIT: After watching the youtube video....magnet and string? Safe with conveniently placed puzzling paper nearby?

....this is how far we've come in 25 years?
It seems that most of what this game has going for it is atmosphere.

Time taken to pop up, method required to have them pop up, how the cover up whatever it was you clicked on, how you have to be able to select the action to use, etc.

Delayed Thank You for the greetings! Sorry, I wasn't here then! And a happy one to Pesty, wherever you are!

I recall that Lure of the Temptress had a sort of context based interface, i.e. when you used the knife in your inventory, you had "cut" "jab" "give" as options and such, but that was a lot closer to the interactive fiction model (each item had tens of verbs you had to scroll through).

Personally, I don't like the idea of 2-button interface, for the reasons mentioned, and I don't really like the verbcoin either. Maybe it is because I grew up with it, but the verb-list doesn't bother me so much...when it comes with a "default action button" like most LucasArts games did, and with all the keyboard shortcuts, I'd say it works great.

Someone should really make a graph or something for this :D:

Parser input (most IF games)
Listbox of all possible verbs usable in game (Legend games like Eric the Unready)
Context sensitive Listbox of verbs that changes according to the item (Lure of the Temptress)
Verb-list with the traditional 9 (or 12) verbs (Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, etc.)
Condensed 4-action walk/talk/use/look (most of the Sierra SCI-VGA Games)
Verbcoin (Full Throttle, Curse of Monkey Island)
Two-button interface (Broken Sword)
One-button(?) interface (Telltale's Sam 'n' Max(?))

From top to bottom it goes from most complex to least complex, and also from most freedom to least freedom, and (kinda) most screenspace used to least screenspace used (which I guess isn't really an issue with games these days).

I had forgotten about Grim Fandango!

That game was so awesome. Each line was a goldmine. And vwg just posted my favourite moon-related bit of poetry :P.

There is a fine line between corny and deep
- Babar the Un-elephant :P

As far as deep sentiments go, I dunno...the Longest Journey may have had a few lines?

Those were a good four years :(.

I used to be an adventure-gamer, but then I took a Yoda Stories to the knee....
