I don't think something in space can end up looking like that (the "chomped" moon), even if it was unnaturally "busted up". I'd suggest making the damage more "rounded". As for the planet, you should show pollution as thick clouds, not graying the whole thing. You could make it a dull brown to show that there is no more vegetation (in place of the green that there used to be). You can show cities as clumps of light on the planet. Don't know how this would work on the moon piece though, considering it is so small.

I use a rewinder (a little non-electronic device with a crank) to rewind my cassete tapes without wasting my walkman's battery, but I suppose that would not apply to VCRs.
What about LCDs? My uncle had a machine that played LCD movies at a time when all I knew about was VCRs. Does anyone know what happened to that?

My dad still has this huge machine where you have to wind a tape reel around two spokes, and then run it to play music. He has some really funny reels. I wouldn't have thought "Fly Robin Fly, Fly Robin Fly!" would have made a good song, but apparently it did.

This is about SSH's entry. Read on if you figured it out.
Spoiler

The ultimate letter part threw me off first. I was looking at the letters in "ultimate"  :-[ . Then I tried to look at your poem like I did auhsor's, and found the answer.

As Goel says, the lightning does not really match the house. One looks blurrier than the other. Also, if this is a poster, I would assume that the title should be very readable, but it is only after looking very carefully that I saw it was "Pure Noise"

Heh. I used it also, but when they started sending letters asking for money, I knew it was a scam. Still, it is nice to have your poem online. I have one that I wrote a LOOOONG time ago. Search last name Kemal and 1st name Babar if you want. It is kind of childish, but I am still proud of it.

It's kinda sad. I had exactly the same problam as Highwaygal, but I had to get a new HD, as it seemed the only solution. Lost a lot of stuff. I wish you had had your problem before ;).

Welcome to the first ever AGS poetry competition. You have one week in which to submit your entries after which there will be 3 days of voting. This is subject to change depending on how you think it should work.

Ok, this weeks rules are as follows:
You are a character who has been jailed for robbing a bank. You want to tell your wife where you hid the loot, so you write her a love poem. Inside the love poem, you have to somehow convey where you hid the money. It can't be too obvious, because your letters are going to be read. However, don't make it too obscure either, or she won't understand.
Good luck

General Discussion / Poetry Competition?
Mon 03/01/2005 08:39:42
We already have competitions for graphics and sound but no "writing" type competition (unless you think of puzzle time as writing), so why not? Contestants would submit their work, and at the end of the competition, there will be voting to select the best.
An adventure game forum has no need for a poetry competition, you might say. Why don't you go flush yourself, I might say  :P.
Seriously, we could make the poetry competition adventure themed. For example, one weeks theme could be to write an introduction poem to a game in fantasy setting about a bar janitor (sort of like the intro sequences of Freddy Pharkas or Conquest of Longbow). Another example for rules could be to make a poem that the character would have to chant to summon a horde of vegetable eating zombies (sort of like the spells in Kings Quest 6).
How about it?

Be glad to do it, and sending you a mail, but why can't you just use the spell checker in word or some other word processor?

Same here as well. I wonder if it is a thing with AGSers and procrastination? Probably not with all of them, otherwise new versions of AGS would never come out.
Other than that, my resolutions are:
*Exercise more
*Go on more hiking trips
*Get a social life

General Discussion / Re: tips for music
Sun 02/01/2005 10:22:01
This is a great idea. Sadly my knowledge of music is limitted to which instruments to  choose in music producer, where to place them (something I learnt from here) and what theme to select. Maybe someone will write up a beginners music tutorial, or link one in the tutorial page.
Maybe there could be a thread like this for graphics as well? Even scripting? Little nuggets of useful information

Another interesting way of playing could be using 1st person view. Sort of like Heart of China. The screen would show what the character sees, and will generally be a static screen. When the player taps on something on screen, it will open up a list of actions that can be done with that. If there is nothing to be done, perhaps only a "look" message will show up. If the player taps on an arrow at the edge of the screen, the game will move to the next screen, in the direction of the arrow.
And no, your avatar does not show either. Not even in a new window

Now her eyes and eyebrows make her look sad :) . Of course, that may be what you want.
Aside from that, even though you linked your image, you could cut out the useless blank edges to make it smaller.

Another thing I noticed is that the collar bone showing and the sagging of her dress at the neck seem to show she is skinny, while her ....voluptuous breasts and well formed legs seem to contradict that.

One way to overcome the problem with not having a mouse over hotspot activated statusline (at least for touch sensitive screens) is to drag the stylus across the screen. When it is over a hotspot, the statusline would show its name. I think the verbcoin GUI would be great for a mobile. You tap on a hotspot, and the verbcoin shows up. You then tap whatever action you want to do.
As for keypads, you could have the arrows move the characters around and the numbers (on the mobile at least) represent different actions, such as talk, pick up, etc. To perform an action on something, you would have to go up to it using the arrow keys, and then press the appropriate number. Admittedly, "looking" at something would be hard. Perhaps when someone clicks the look button, the game will pause and a pointer will come up which can move with the arrows. You move it over what you want to look at and click the look button a 2nd time.
About the playlength, yeah, they would have to be pretty short, easy games to hold the players attention, and to be playable in comparitively short lengths of time.
By the way, the 1st pic in your post (presumably of a pocketPC with an adventure game) is not showing up

It seems odd that there has yet been no HAPPY NEW YEAR thread yet. I am sure that are AGSers east of me where new year has already come, but I can't get the AGS World map to make sure. Since this thread has an almost similar topic, HAPPY NEW YEAR. May your new year be blessed with many new and exciting Adventure games

why is there light landing on the part of the roof that is away from the moon? Or is it another light source? Other than that, the transition of the path from the snow to shadow looks very drastic. Other than that, a delicious picture

after seeing increators edit, I realised that it is not exactly shadow, there is a tree and grass there. Like he suggested, you should brighten it a bit

hahaha...I wonder what would happen if they actually put up a message like that in abandonware sites. Just before someone could click to download, they would have to agree to terms that said:

I think people should grow some balls and say, "Hey, we're practically stealing!" instead of hiding behind words like 'abandonware'.

Alec joined on my birthday....weird stuff. I been here a year and 4 months. I did visit the ezboard when I checked ags a long time ago, but the roomedit.exe scared me. I even added the guy who made Robert Redford games to my MSN, and asked him to help me with AGS. Lost that address now.

ponto de fuga= vanishing point??
I think I know what you are talking about. I think Evil designed something like this a while back (at least I think it was evil). It involved some scripting, a "circular" type BG. It was as if the point of view was one, but it could be rotated around (like a circular building with the camera in the middle). Maybe someone will tell you who knows what they are talking about.

EDIT: Dang nabbit (or something). I really have a bad memory. All I remember is someone posting a black and white wireframe image of a circular room and having it animated to give the "panning" effect (rotating the camera at one fixed point), while explaining how it could be done

EDIT EDIT: Woohoo! I ares teh king. I hope this is what you are looking for Rui:
