There is a zeroeth law? I never knew that. From the Asimov books I have read, the 1st law seemed to suffice, even enough to encompass this zeroeth law you talk about. But then again, I only read 3 or 4 of his books. Do you know which book/story has this?

Gaaaah! You have to be able to spell right while typing normally to be able to spell anywhere close to recognisable with other body parts. IT IS TONGUE!! Not TOUNGE!

you have repeated the same problem again. The records(?) look like they are standing up instead of lying on the floor (as I assume they are meant to be). The speakers still look funny. hehe..The hero must play really loud music by looking at how broken down the room is

hahahah... I like the screenie. Kind of like a retro-early King's Quest thing. Of course, if you want it to be a more serious game, you should make it darker more shadowy feel (as suggested here). Oh, and btw, just a tiny nitpicky thing...I think crosses are meant to be a specific length, and the "arms" on yours seem a little longer than normal

the speakers look like they've been painted on the wall. Give them some perspective, even if it is "cartoonish style". Make their backs smaller than the fronts and show up part of their sides. Fill up the room as it looks kind of empty now. Since it is the characters room maybe a bed, shelf for books and CDs etc. And think up a better name :D

I think Tolkien did that a bit in Lord of the Rings (the book :)). I am sure he used Dwarfs instead of Dwarves, and there might have been others.

Does anyone know ay good games that implement something like this?
Lots of games have this. I remember Sam 'n Max specifically, having played it recently. If you continuously did something the wrong way, after a while, Max would give some comment like "I think we have to do something in there" and after a few times if you still did not get it, the hints would become better. Of course, the puzzle was never SOLVED completely by Max

The same here, I completed a lot of games without walkthroughs before I got the net. That is not to say I did not get help from friends and family. Some games I finished are:
Monkey Island 2 (But only the easy one. In the Hard version I needed help)
Sam 'n Max
Day of the Tentacle
King's Quest 5,6 and 7
Space quest 4,5
Indiana Jones took me the longest to ever complete. I started when I was 7 or 8 and completed it when I was 14. Of course, that was also because of a whole lot of moving and losing the CD. One part I got stuck in (quite foolishly for many months) was where you had to
Spoiler
point the transitor(sp?) at the two horns. I kept pointing them IN between. It took a long time to notice that the mural had them from the outside. Another stupid part I got stuck in, and this for years was where you needed the ladder to cross the chasm to get the cup. I had left the ladder outside, not knowing I would need it.
Monkey Island 1 also took many years, but only because I was so frustrated that I left it. First time I used the net in my life, I looked for "Monkey Island walkthrough". I just never realised that you could actually USE the brochures for something (ie. give to the cannibals)

I used to have a cd: "SOLUTION CD 96" which had walkthroughs for a whole bunch of games. I used it for some of the harder games I played. I never found a Solution CD 97, but after I got the internet, I stopped looking. I guess no one would buy something like that when you could get it online for free

Game title: Death of a Medic

Progression statistics:
PlotÃ,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  80%
Programming 2%Ã,
GraphicsÃ,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, 2%
MusicÃ,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  5%

We are all working together reasonably well. Our only problem is that due to conflicting time zones, we have yet to have a meeting where all of us are present at the same time. Right now Evil is away, and will be back on the 17th I believe. I had let the team fall behind a bit, unfortunately, with providing my plot a bit late, which accounts for a larger % for plot than anything else, but now that work has started, it is going ok.

The CD version of Loom is talkie! I still have it and last time I checked, they all had voices. I never played the floppy version, but without anything to compare by, the CD (and Loom in general) rocks!

Asia/Pacific only 53%??? That is impossible! I have yet to see a store here that sells original software. But seriously, if they sold the software at actual price here (even if you don't count the money it would cost to transport), it would be too expensive for anyone to buy here. There I am, ninth on the list. I guess I should be proud :D

PaulSC, One thing you missed is: No one is trying to push their beliefs on you! You keep telling them not to, but so far no one has. There has been (Thankfully) no pushing of beliefs yet, only discussion, to clarify what people themselves believe. I don't think there is anything wrong with that, as long as it does not resort to name calling and insults. Nobody is asking anyone to accept their beliefs. They are just stating what they believe is right. There is also no point in attempting to disprove someones beliefs, because, obviously, they think they know something you don't. Be this the clarity of God, or the Clarity of science, or the Clarity of both combined. It would be so much better if all practised some tolerance for others beliefs.

Very interesting read. However, there are a few points on which I'd like to elaborate my viewpoint. English isn't really all that pure and singular as we make it out to be. It is a mixture of a whole bunch of other languages, forced on by repeated invasions. There was always slang, it just developed and became integrated into the language, until new slang words came along. English is not a set idea. It is a constantly mutating and evolving language. More so now then ever before because of the huge leaps in technology that make worldwide communications much easier. The fact that it is spoken throughout the world today may even be a fluke. If Germany had won the war, who knows? We might have been speaking in german right now

Congratulations Minimi!
It is great to see someone who is courageous and selfless enough to take the initiative to try and make a difference. You WILL be missed. Learn well, have fun and come back!

the colour is ALMOST the same. And it is red (which is an odd colour for any commercial establishment). I think that is what ScottDoom meant ::) ;D.
Other than that, the shadow of the bar shelf seems much longer than it should be (unless the shelf is actually that big, but can't be seen due to perspective).
Much better than the previous version btw.

I can't really remember a serious game that did humour properly. Maybe Gabriel Knights 1? I remember when I was playing it there were these little funny bits put in. I specifically remember (and this was a long time ago, so it may be wrong), there was one part in your store that you climbed up a ladder and then the secretary friend (forgive me for my ignorance, I don't remember her name) said something like "Stop trying to look down my neck". Perhaps little bits like that, not directly linked to the plot could be inserted throughout the game. Or perhaps depending on the characters mood (if he has just been made angry) there can be sarcastic descriptions?

isn't this like the "drawing from conception" activity that Andail and then Hollisterman did?
#3278
what is the point of fighting about this? I know that "Making someone see the light" may be a "noble mission", but the people here who will not care about any of that. And there is no need to make God jokes that provoke that behaviour just because they are god jokes

you should use some contrast. the rich guy looks slightly albinic (is that a word?) as there are too many bright colours

His Hair! A 39 year old physicist should be respectabiggle. The spikey hair makes him look young. Maybe if you had it combed. Or make it messy without spikeyness (like the mad scientist type). Also, you might add a little grey in his hair to make him oldish
