There is this: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=14864.0
Which, to be fair, contains a lot of incompatible game art, not to mention broken links.
There's also the instagame pack.

But yeah, it'd be cool to have a proper resource for this. In fact, why not another instagame pack? A collection of sprites, BGs and GUIs and music that are consistent with each other!

General Discussion / Re: Games for the PS2

This is the perfect time to get one, R4L! :D

I found We Love Katamari at another GameStop today. As well as Metal Gear Solid 2, for just 2 cents. Even though that is an awesome deal, I got annoyed, because just as I came back with my purchase and checked my mail, it turns out I got a coupon to get any game free if I buy two games...

I went to a GameStop today (one of the few in the city still stocking PS2 games:(), and was able to find these, which I then bought:
Sly 3
Silent Hill 2
God of War 1 & 2
Okami
Ico
Shadow of Destiny
Tekken Tag Tournament
Ratchet & Clank
Jak & Daxter
and GTA: Vice City Stories

Now I have to look around for somewhere else that sells them, or find somewhere to mod my PS2 cheaply (probably not here...). I googled around for the disk mentioned, but could only find some memory card thing you insert that region unlocks it, but you have to do it every time the PS2 boots, and I'm not sure it is removable/replaceable once the game starts.

And Tuomas, I have played both Max Payne 1 and 2 on the PC already :D.

Multiple recommendations for
Ico
Shadow of Colossus
Okami
GTA Liberty City Stories & Vice City Stories (I already have played the other GTA games)
Metal Gear Solid 2 (3 seemed to be less well received...both?)
Silent Hill 2
Time Splitters 2
SSX Tricky (or should I get Tony Hawks 3 or 4 or 5 instead...it is a similar sort of game?)

I am checking out the other games mentioned one by one. Thanks! And do keep the suggestions coming!
Pity about the region locking, that means I really should get as many as soon as possible, not sure if anyone would still even be modding for PS2s..

Hey everyone!

I decided to join you all in your new-fangled technologiness, and got myself a brand-spankin-new, top-of-the-line, cutting edge PS2!

The next step, obviously, is to get games for it, which is where all you fine folk come in! I have a short amount of time to order lots of good games (I'll be travelling soon after, and don't know the intricacies of regions and compatibility, or if PS1 games would work on a slim, regardless of regions and such), so I want to get the best! I realise that I could look up 'Best of' lists and such (and I have), but I figured that this community probably has a better and more personalised feel for what I'd like (not to say I want adventure games, those things suck :P).

So, for example, I've heard good things about Shadow of the Colossus. And Ico. And Jax & Drexter. And Ratchet & Clank. And God of War. These are games I've heard of constantly as a computer gamer, that supposedly added to what games are, and gave games a context that I am fundamentally unaware of, having never experienced them. AND they're supposedly fun/enjoyable.

Can you suggest to me some more such games? Tell me all you can think of that run the gamut of good (or even just FUN) console games! Or even tell me they're not worth it, and recommend totally different stuff. Or even if Tekken 4(5?) is not worth it (with me having fond memories of constantly beating my friend in 3 on his console and later my emulator) and I should get some other fighting game!
Thanks!

I'm sure the similarity to the eye is not unintentional. I always saw both!

The Rumpus Room / Re: My Girlfriend...

Not mine, but it conveniently showed up on my facebook wall just before I saw this thread, so I figured it might be the best place for a slightly disturbing, semi-rapey joke:

Girl: "I wana give you the best blowjob of all time!"
Boy: "really?!"
Girl: "April fogwrhbrfv..."

(If only I took my own advice)
And mine! :P

As for Sinsin, I suggest you design something that forces you to stay small. For example, game that takes place in a single room bar (IN SPACE! IN THE WILD WEST! IN THE WILD SPACE WEST!), where you have to pick up a girl (sorta like the first Leisure Suit Larry :D).

It was babe! One of the few people alive to call me so :D. Glad you're somewhat settled now (same place in the span of 5 years counts as settled, right?), and I've been mostly okay!

Iqu! You're not a n00bie! Where you been? How you been?

...There's a TMNT adventure game?

WHAT?! WHERE?! I WAAAAAAAANTS.

Site & Forum Reports / Re: Bug reports

Or "Site" or "Main Site", even. No need to AGS-tag every AGS-thing with AGS on the AGS-site and AGS-forum.

I keep doing it as well, but I kept figuring that I'll get used to it soon enough, so it is silly to complain.

In the mean while, it is REALLY frustrating.

Well, Tim, I actually don't care too much about the documentary.  I mainly wanted an update from someone on the actual project.
Isn't that partly what the documentaries are for? Giving the constant updates so that the actual dev team can concentrate on development? They seem to be giving updates in those regularly enough- until the last month, when they mentioned beforehand that that month's documentary would be skipped out because they were all working on Amnesia Fortnight, and now a new episodes is expected soon. From the documentary episodes themselves, I think I have a vague picture of how things were (in terms of like you said, "this many rooms, this many areas completed") at least up until January this year.

The individual team members were also giving specific updates on stuff they were working on, which has somewhat slowed now (last one in November?), I guess that means they're too busy working on it to write about it?

Like Ascovel, I feel like I've almost made my money back with the documentary episodes alone :D.

I have a steam key for Cave Story+, for those of you who didn't pick it up in either of the Humble Indie Bundles it featured in. PM if you want!

I have many hats. I will probably spam this thread. But for now...

Khris brings up an interesting idea. You could set up your game with a command to run an ags game from within the original game, and to get the name of the exe from a data file. When you want to give extra content, you'd have a modified data file with the name of the new exe you had made, as well as the exe itself. Just before running the new ags game, save whatever pertinent data from the old game to a file that can be read by the new game.

Your "extra content" would probably have to have all the old data from the old game as well, but from the player's perspective, it'll seem like an add-on.

As it is now (with the specific situation you described), it is not possible.
If you made your initial game with an intention towards modularisation...like creating a tile-engine in AGS and then having external map files, it might be possible.

I totally remember you, mamarulez! :P

And now, since I've cornered you, I need to ask you...are you a machine?!
You joined 2 months after me, some 9 years ago and 3 months ago, and since then, you've spent a year and 3 months online on the AGS forums.
Do you stalk the forums all day? Over a ninth of your last 9 years has been here!

I'd call you lifeless or something, but I have 320 days of my last 9 years online on AGS forums, and I'm jealous :D (not to mention of your contributions to AGS).

Yeah, about that...It seems I'm still stuck in my embarrassing past

Hey Cat!

Even though, since it is scrolling, the perspective would be off horizontally, it should still line up vertically (i.e. if you dragged perspective lines vertically upwards, they should all meet up at the horizon, even if not on the same vanishing point). Your horizon, however, is much lower than where the perspective lines would meet up, making it look like the train is maybe tilting a bit upwards, or it is along the edge of a cliff (which considering the forest on the right, I don't think is the case).

Other than that, it looks pretty good! Perhaps you can add some more details..lines indicating where passengers/food-trolleys can walk, luggage racks above the seats, etc. and maybe make the shading under the chairs a little more prominent?
