Hmmmm......

Spoiler
What doscientists call non-gas giant planets?  I thought they were terrestrial planets, but that doesn't have any C's.  So.... They could be "rocky" planets, or "rock" planets, or "ice" planets, although that's less likely....  So that leaves us with "roy", "ro" or maybe "ie".

Let's pair those guesses with my synonyms before, which AnasAbdin said were wrong but one of them worked anyway: mentor, teacher, guide, trainer, coach, tutor, advisor.

So....

men-roy    tor-roy     tea-roy       cher-roy       gui-roy     de-roy      trai-roy     ner-roy    co-roy      ach-roy     tu-roy    tor-roy     advi-roy     sor-roy
men-ro      tor-ro       tea-ro         cher-ro         gui-ro       de-ro        trai-ro       ner-ro      co-ro        ach-ro       tu-ro      tor-ro       advi-ro       sor-ro
men-ie       tor-ie        tea-ie          cher-ie          gui-ie        de-ie         trai-ie        ner-ie       co-ie         ach-ie        tu-ie     tor-ie        advi-ie        sor-ie

So I guess my best guess is torro, the Spanish bull. ;)

Voted.  I had a few graphical problems along the way, but nothing I couldn't sort out with Winsetup (or in its absence, Saurabh's magical .dlls (roll)).  As a participant I don't feel as if I can leave specific feedback at this time without compromising our game in the process, but generally I have to say this was a strong clutch of games given the constraints of the competition.  I thought over half of them were serious contenders for the top spot, and agonized over my votes (actually switched my best-game choice back and forth 2-3 times before finally clicking submit).  Great work everyone!

@Mandle: Hilarious and insightful reviews!

@Stu+: Where do I read yours? (or are you not done yet?)

OK, so.....

Spoiler
How strict are we being on planets?  The dwarf-planet Ceres has some good letters if you remove the "Sea".  So...  "coach"/2 + Ceres -Ce = Cores?

I too have enjoyed your many instances of interactive fiction, and I would gladly participate in another one. (nod)

Which reminds me, I've got to resurrect my own attempt at it one of these days....

Well....

Spoiler
Half a mentor is probably "men" or "tor".  Every synonym of mentor that I could find (teacher, guide, trainer, coach, tutor, advisor...) all have an odd number of letters, which makes taking half of them unlikely.

For a while I thought you meant "seal-less" planet....(roll)  I was raking my brains for a planet that would be exceptionally hostile to pinnipeds. :P  But when I latched on to the fact that it was "sea-less" planet, I immediately thought of Neptune, because it was named after the god of the sea.  But taking the sea out of Neptune proved hard without lapsing into Little Mermaid fantasies again, so I tried a different tack.  Mercury has the Latin/French word for sea right there ("mer"), so sea-less Mercury = "cury," or maybe "QE" if it was really poorly pronounced.  So what I'm left with is men + qe = menqe, whatever that means.  Or tor + cury = torcury, which interestingly is a Bengali dish, so..... basically I got nothing.  .....Yet.

Wait, did anybody actually guess the answer? :undecided:

For me, my absence has definitely been OROW related. :)

Are those your own words, MiteWiseacreLives?  Or has Ponch got you under his Jimmy-Jones-esque hypnotic power? ;)

Oooo!  Only 1742 seconds to go!!! (laugh)

edit: Do you think Bulbapuck is composing the post now, waiting until the exact moment to have the theme go live? ;-D

Thoughts so far....

Spoiler
"Emotional Dwarf" is perhaps a shortened form of emotional, like "emo".
"in stitches" probably means put "emo" into "stitches", like "stemo itches", or "stitchemoes" (roll)
"a new production" could be a "recent release" or a "novelty"

So my guess is novelty stitchemoes. :P

A more obvious guess would be a 19 character name of a famous emo AGS character, but I refuse to guess that without figuring out how at least some of the clue could possibly relate. :undecided:

-----
edit:

WAIT!  Dwarfalized "emotional" = otion! :-D  I knew I was on the right track!

-----
edit again:

...And "Spiri" is apparently a new line of quadcopter drone, a "new production" as it were.  So I'm guessing somehow "in stitches" = "tennis", maybe referring to the surgery required for tennis elbow? thus:

otion spiri tennis aka more commonly as Oceanspirit Dennis! ;-D

We the people demand a letter count!  Also no taxation without representation would be nice too. :=

Some piqued French lady with a baby rattle, a decapitated bird, and a bunch of shadowy figures raising the black flag of jihad?  Why don't you just keep Teh Awesmoe over on your side of the line, K? ;)

Don't get so jealous of your kidnapped team-slaves, P. :P  I've got my own elite squad of katana wielding Euro-hotties now, so I'm no longer in the market. :=

So.... you had him confined in the bubble trunk? :undecided:
#1158
MiteWiseacreLives's voice is coming through pretty clear now.  Are you sure you closed the trunk, P? :undecided:

I find this theme metaphorically in-sync with the OROW competition.

Wait, the OROW theme is already released?!?  Why was I not informed! :-\

It's also kinda linked to this month's MAGS theme of Drowning ;)

Actually a lifeboat is the exact opposite of drowning: ask any survivor of a shipwreck for details. :P
