A new game from Baron?* I am so downloading this!

Aw, shucks....  :)
I promise the same humour level as my previous games, but don't expect a lengthy outing this time.  Fatherhood has really cut into the time I can devote to game creation.

cool stuff, but what about that porn game?

Fear not!  Besieged is well advanced as a project and will not long distract Yarooze from his other..... endeavours.   It was omitted from the original post, but the scripting for this game is also around 98% accomplished and a stable beta version exists.  It is only due to the amount of time we are both devoting to other projects -in AGS and the real world - that we have left ourselves another month to release it.

Buy a costume and go trick or treating -it's Hallowe'en!

We rocketh?
We actually studied paintings and tapestries from the 11th-15th century to help develop the style of the game.  Visually it's the most complex project I've worked on to date.  We've had a long time to refine the plot to perfection as well -this game has been in the works off and on for almost  a year now.  Add in Funkmast's music and I think it will be a real treat to play.

Ah, that type-o would be my bad.  Franco can correct it fairly easily in the translation file for the next version.

As English Editor (Franco actually did the translation himself), I had a chance to preview this project and I must say it's pretty impressive for a first effort.  The swing music creates a great atmosphere, and the colourful graphics are attention grabbing if not spectacular.   I really liked the mood set by the back story, and most of all I liked the facial expressions of the characters -during dialogues they would smile or frown depending on the topic, a nice touch.

The dialogues would be pretty sweet with voices added, but let me assure you there is a LARGE volume of dialogue to record for such a short game....

AGS Games in Production / Re: Freezer Burn

This project intrigues me.  How many mini-arcade games will there be?  The sprites you have so far look very impressive.  The graphics in the mini-games are WAY basic, but they have that retro 80s feel to them, so it's good.  Best of luck completing this.

Hey, it kind of looks like MOTLPAA, but with more interactions.  Have you been recycling ideas, Radiant?  Anyway, looks interesting.

Congratulations Yarooze!  Glad to see at least one of us can get his act together and work on a game these days!

Great news, this Mittens truly is shaping up to have an all-star cast! Now we just need to get Kandyman back and the circle will be complete.

........And Baron, of course.

Yes, I would be the first to concede that the music is not top notch.  But if you knew how unmusical I am, you'd be pretty darn impressed that it kind of sounds like music at all.  As nobody stepped forward with a compatible vision for the project when I was looking for a musician, in the interests of publishing the game I decided to step up myself (with some help from Yarooze on the longer tracks).  I wouldn't call the music terrible though.  Simplistic, yes.  Repetitive, yes.  Maybe even annoying if you're not into the whole midi scene.  But terrible?  I wouldn't go that far, but maybe this is a case of "the face only a mother could love."
Was it really that bad?  Lay it on me straight -DON'T sugar coat it.  But remember that Yarooze helped on some of the (better) tracks, so extremely negative feedback might make him cry -best to PM those opinions to me directly.

Yes, all the recent exposure is very heartening!  I guess it just took a while for the game to percolate through the internet and into people's hearts.  I thought the review was pretty fair, even bordering on generous with regards to the compliments on the writing.  Still, it's very good for downloads, so I won't be complaining.

My ambition to create a Foxtrot sequel pretty much died when I ran out of time due to two jobs, recent fatherhood, house renovations and a correspondence course.  It was hard to stay focussed on a full-length project for so long even without these distractions -my games hence forth will almost certainly revert to the "medium length" category.  Will Charlie Foxtrot ride again?  Perhaps.  But not for so long, and certainly not any time soon.

I always thought it'd be kind of fun (not to mention a tremendous compliment to me!) for people to make their own Foxtrot clone games, kind of as a cloning spoof on a cloning spoof.  Game makers would be encouraged to push the parody envelope without actually compromising their artistic integrity, just as I've tried to do.  Maybe I should release some clone walk cycles for just such a purpose....

Well, there's the unauthorized walkthrough above, but if you don't want to spoil the whole game:

The Maple Leafs played in the playoffs once.....

But I still watch at least four games a week during the playoffs -it's almost more enjoyable not having any emotional investment in the outcome.  During the season I probably spend more time actually playing hockey as watching it on television: it's just a beer league, but I have fun.

Well, it's just an AGS game, but I never laughed harder than when I watched the intro to the first Barn Runner.  Classic.

He he, silly infinite tardis.....
Try putting it down on paper.  You'll soon notice that the same symbols lead to the same symbols, and the "maze" is in fact deceptively small.  If that's too much, I think it works like this:

Spoiler
Go right, up, right, down, right..... or something like that.  Really a post-it map is your best bet as there are only eight to ten different symbols in the whole maze.

I change my homepage using Windows.  Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options.  That might override the native Firefox settings if it's your default browser (not sure about that though).  Anyway, works for me.

You still have 10 days left -you haven't failed yet!

Besides, given the topic, all you have to do is TRY to finish it, and then wrap up whatever you have with some creative dialogue on the last day or so.  Cut corners, take shortcuts -remember it's a W.I.P., so don't feel down because the game isn't turning out the way you envisaged (or at least not quickly enough).  I encourage you to just do what you have to do to finish it in some shape or form, and then revel in the glory of having finished your game and having other people play it.

That was pretty neat looking how he adapted the guitar interface to the C64.  Something like that for the PC would be a little more practical, from my perspective, since then I could create AGS adventures that require Guitar Hero input.  How cool would that be???1????  Nonetheless I am impressed.

Wow, there seem to be a lot of people out there who are enthusiastic about doing half the work for full credit!  ;)

I'm glad the topic is appealing to so many people -we should have a really good competition this month!  Truth be told, I was somewhat reluctant to set it as the topic because I have some really good ideas for it myself, but for obvious reasons I can't participate this time around.  So I'll just have to experience game-making vicariously through all of you.  Don't forget to post how much fun you are having!  :)
