the vict0r, do you ever frequent IRC?

No?

Then you have little knowledge of what is essentially an irc-based matter.

For the record, my feelings on this matter are such: Yes, okay, sometimes ops get a bit overenthusiastic with the kick/ban buttons.  It's never permanent, nor is it for an overly excessive amount of time.  But for the most part, the channel is managed well.  It's just the internet, nothing worth getting overly upset about, which is why this thread seems so childish and whiny.

I'll echo Progz's sentiments here:

if you dislike the ops in #ags or if you disagree with their rules then discuss the matter with them privately and respectfully or don't go to the channel.  But don't make an ass of yourself by creating a spectacle.  Thanks.

That is weeeeird.  I just tested on my computer and it takes 7 minutes to transfer 10GB from my USB HD to my internal one.  Are there perhaps some driver-related things that aren't behaving correctly?

Oh, and my stomach has also reminded me that I got lots of Jelly Belly for Christmas.  I should never eat all of it as breakfast again.

Cats are the perfect things to test a new digital camera on.

This is Freddy.

This is Splodge.

Perhaps more exciting pictures with me in at a later date.

M0ds, I am asuming you have USB 2.0 ports, right?  Is firewire an alternative?

I got a digital camera and some book tokens.  Camera has so far been used to take pictures of cats.  Cat pictures are cute.

Religion does not play by the same rules as science and doesn't stand in opposition to science.  Unless you're buying into the idea that intelligent design is a valid scientific theory, I can't see why you draw the conclusion that religion and science are two opposite points of view.  Perhaps the "worldviews" attatched to the two things stand in opposition...but I don't really think religion and science are naturally paired opposites standing in opposition to each other.

QuoteBut with written language there is now something new.   Accountability.

I don't think that the Bible makes any substantial comment upon the detailed workings of the majority of areas of science...it's not supposed to.  If people use the Bible (or any religious text) to try and disprove elements of science, then that's an individual conclusion that the two oppose.  Just because it's written down doesn't mean its true, or claiming to be scientific.

It looks like the kind of purely indulgent film-type that Sin City was.  The heavy reliance on blue screen filming makes me feel a bit squicky.  Though I'm sure some people out there will enjoy it for the extreem effektz, it looks incredibly over the top for me.

QuoteIF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 1.2 PLANETS.

I win.

Though, my answers were quite heavily biased towards my student lifestyle, where I buy fresh veggies and fruit from the Students Union market,  walk absolutely everywhere, eat meat rather infrequently (it's expensive!), and share a flat with 12 people.  I wonder how different my home one would be.

QuoteBut why does much of humanity FEEL as if there is an afterlife?

Because we're all shit scared of dying!  Death?  End of our own conciousness? NO WAY.  That's why I reckon people believe anyway.

QuoteWhy the hell do we exist if we than die and tottaly disappear? It's not logical to me.

My thoughts are that either every living thing exists and then dies and gets to go to heaven/hell/afterlife of choice, or nothing does...I don't buy into that whole "humans are above every other form of life" malarky.

We exist and then die cause that's what everything else does.  If cows didn't exist then die then I wouldn't get to eat delicious wholesome meat, and if the grass didn't exist and then die there wouldn't be cows...etc.

But because I'm boredcore, I reckon everything just -dies-.

I'm really boring.  I believe that you die and that's it.

How depressing :(

QuoteSkyFire continually harrasses both Matt and I. He always sends the first nasty PM because he knows that if he said such a thing in public, he'd be banned. I know, as Matt probably does, that showing a moderator some of the things he's sent us (unprovoked, too!) would probably not get him banned, as moderators here are so laid back.

I agree, trial by public harassment works very effectively, but I don't think the moderators are as laid back and unwilling to take issues seriously as you think, which is why I don't really see the need for a "he-said-she-said" quote fest in a thread that had actually a serious point about trolling and flaming on our forums... :P
#215
Geez guys, if someone's annoying you that badly, why don't you just block them in the first place instead of throwing your PMs all over the forums? :/

I'm out of the running.  Checked current flights, far too expensive for me now, and by the time I have money to spend, they will be astronomical.

I really dislike the backwards N, it just seems unecessarily silly, and removes from the "aggression" that you are trying to portray.

I don't think we can talk about absolutes in human nature - some may genuinely be gregarious and prepared to work for the good of the community, but others are self-interested and will work hard only to further their own aims and desires.  As long as people are individuals, you cannot say that a socialist complete redistribution of wealth is possible, and that everyone will be better off under a socialist banner.

I personally think that equality of opportunity and access to education, healthcare, benefits and infrastructure are more important and realistic than complete economic equality.  I don't think we have acheived equality of opportunity either, and I appreciate that we do have a long way to go.
