Remember to examine your own spiritual beliefs at the same time as dismissing others.

General Discussion / Re: Females , Unite!

Man you guys just can't bloody read, can you?

From the original post:

QuoteIt would be nice to know just how many members here are female and it would be cool to have an all female group ( even a small one ) involved in helping each other and others out , creating games as a team , games that weren't made as a team but still by a female AGS member , blah blah blah.

There's no evil sinister anti-man intent here.  I can clearly see that:

a) The OP is interested in the number of active female members.
b) The OP would be interested in working with other female members as a group.
c) The OP would like to be part of a group that helps other female adventure game makers out.

Where does any of that imply that games made by an all-male team are rubbish?  Nowhere.

In these sort of forums there are generally a low(er) proportion of female members and you know, sometimes us girls like to stick together.  It's not a huge discriminatory deal.

QuoteI assume that most people on this forum have grown out of that sort of behaviour.

Not when their male-superiority is offended!

I refuse.

His kid said that she thought her dad was her hero.  Obviously you dislike Steve Irwin, fair enough, whatever, but let his own daughter say how she feels about her late father.
#246
If your dad handled dangerous animals and was so damn enthusiastic when you were a small kid, wouldn't you call him a hero?

All of the icons seemed pretty intuitive to me.  I think they work fine.  Open/close...well I prefer to have the "open" box as the Open action, that makes the most sense to my brain :P

Boney: looking at something and actually examining something are completely different actions.  As is talking to someone and asking someone someting.

Being somewhat terrified of ever having kids myself, I can somewhat sympathise with the sudden shock of discovering that you're going to be a parent out of the blue.  However, I'm sure that everything will work out okay as long as you work at it together.  Just don't do anything stupid, okay? :P

QuoteMy primate side says that that is true, but it doesn't explain the turn on with two woman.

QuoteIn all honestly - it's erotic imagery.  With women.  And no ugly penises to look at.
#250
Right.  Because if you think that enjoying the thought of two men together is sick, then the same thought about two women together is too.
#251
QuoteYou know some sick people   :o

You better be kidding, right?

Yes, I've heard of that study.  The answer given in the study is - competition.  Another male fertilising a female! OH NO! MUST COMPETE!

Lesbianism is a man's dream.  A whole area of sex with nothing for them to do.

In all honestly - it's erotic imagery.  With women.  And no ugly penises to look at.  Heterosexual men are not turned on by other men (as a general rule).

I know a lot of girls that find two guys kissing erotic.  Same principle.

18 is a useful age, because then you are legally responsible for your own actions.  At the age of 14, it's best to get on with Real Life and wait.  I know it's "not fair", but if something happened (and although that's highly unlikely - this is the internet), you'd rather be safe than sorry, and so would everyone else.

Right I *finally* got my photos developed.  I apologise for the very small amount of them (7/24 didn't develop :( ) and the general poor quality due to the non-zoom-non-flash camera, and then scanning the photos :P

BUT!  I have....underwater photos! :D  So here's Mittens '06, from a Beckys-Eye-View.

First, Adamski and I arrive two days late, and as soon as we arrive everyone goes to the pool.
Adam gives the pool and the underwater camera a double thumbs up.
I believe this is Petteri, but I may be mistaken.
Nacho and Mark attempt to pose underwater.
Underwater, people look like headless bodies.  If you can work out who these people are, congratulations!

The Mittens sign is erected!  Hooray!
Petteri smiles.  CJ grimaces.
Nacho plucks things out of the air whilst Helm plucks guitar strings.

To Terra Mitica!  On a bus!
Helm claims a hippo for his mighty steed.
The Terra Mitica sign can be seen for miles around, even back at the campsite.
Helm and mini-helm.
Everyone watches the test of strength.
Adamski, Grundislav, Petteri, Disco and Mattgoble enjoy the rapids.
And so does everyone else!

A few days later, some of us go to Benidorm Island on a proper boat.  Here is a scenic view of Benidorm
Nacho hangs on as I demonstrate I can't take photos on a moving boat.
FISH

At the entrance/exit to the campsite...goodbye Mittens!

You know, your behaviour isn't exactly endearing.  You might want to reconsider your attitude (especially as you basically insulted everyone trying to help you make Fatman work) because it's not going to do you any favours.
#257
Um, possibly?

Those that I listed are free to download and highly effective, though.

Edit: Note that Chicky mentioned it was probably virus/spyware a few posts earlier.
#258
Um, an anti-virus or anti-spyware program?

Like AVG Free, Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy...even Windows Defender.

If you've never scanned for viruses/spyware...therein may lie your problem.
#259
It does sound like you've got some spyware or virus that is not letting your computer access DLLs properly, if no versions of the DLL seem to work.  Try scanning for those things and see what comes up.

The BBC report says nothing of the sort about "diving" onto a stingray.

Despite his somewhat eccentric character and potentially dubious animal handling methods, Steve Irwin was a huge supporter of conservation and animal welfare, always prefering to remove an aggressive crocodile from a neighbourhood rather than let it be killed.  I think his impact will be remembered.
