General Discussion / Re: n00b adoption idea

QuoteBecky, was the idea not to tudor them on using the program rather than the forum?

From the original post:

QuoteThe user who wants to be the parent figure then PMs the n00b asking if they want to be adopted by them and such. I think it is a good idea and it would help n00bs get to know their way around the forum because they could trust the person who has adopted them to reply to any questions.

I interpreted that as "tutoring to use the forum".

Do newbies really need someone to explain the rules to them?  That's all I can really see from this "adopt a newbie" scheme...which isn't useful at all.  Let's be honest, these forums aren't actually difficult to use if you follow the rules, and if you don't then no mentor will stop that.

Let people learn from their own mistakes, that's generally the best way.

QuoteAbortions should be compulsary for under 21s. If you don't you should be jailed. I'm sorry if this seems sick, but there are way to many 14 year olds having babies in the uk.

As much as it's someone's choice to have an abortion, it is fully their choice to have the child too, and at 18 some couples are ready and prepared to be responsible parents.

Prevention is better than cure.  Better sex education would prevent teenage pregnancies, not mass abortions.

I'm not that high pitched in real life!

QuoteYou shouldnt be having sex if your not responsible enough firstly to look after the kid,
or use protection.

Protection can and does fail.  Even the most effective forms of birth control do have slim chances of failure.   I don't think that only people who are prepared and in a stable position to have a child should therefore be allowed to have sex.  That's no fun for anyone!

I'm pro-choice, and I think that although a woman should tell their husband/partner about an abortion, that doesn't mean that they have to.  In a healthy, happy relationship, this would be a joint decision, but at the end of the day, it's the womans body, it's her choice.

Should I even begin to start on how irritating and chauvinistic it is to find most female characters in games have giant chests and pert round buttocks?

Bah, not interested in Ibiza :P  Plus, I think I'm only gonna have enough money to travel there and feed myself, another â,¬120 is too much.

I vote Summer, and so does DarkStalkey.  We both will have too much coursework and he won't have enough money.

The Easter holidays are the time of year where I'm sweating over coursework, so any time in July-August is far, far better :P

Why does it matter how the ingredients are arranged if you mix them up?

QuoteI just don't get it... You can shoot an innocent guy right between the eyes with a 12 gauge, but you can't see two pixely naked people doing it, untill you're eighteen... America is weird.

I think it's more the rating system that's weird.  Here in the UK games are rated on a Europe-wide rating system (PEGI), with 3+, 7+, 12+, 16+ and 18+.  The amount of pure violence in GTA:SA means that it's already 18+ in most of Europe, and the discovery of this "hot coffee" mod makes no difference to it's rating.

General Discussion / Re: The 10th Planet

I'm not suprised scientists haven't "officially" released this info till recently, as there's as much debate about whether Pluto is a planet or a large asteroid body as it is to add any further fuel to the fire.  They'll be arguing over wether this 10th planet is a "planet" till the cows come home. :)

This news interests me, as I've always had an interest in space and the like.

Luckily this time it appears to have not been sucessful.  In any case, at least it wasn't on the same scale as the ones on the 7th of July.  Apparently things are already getting back to normal in London right now.

I'd propose if I got bored of waiting for my partner to do it.  But then again, my approach to relationships is that it's between the couple involved as to how they do things, follow tradition or make their own, and not really anyone else's business.

Material goods mean nothing in terms of showing love, and I'd rather have the love then material goods anyway.

And I'm with DarkStalkey on the wedding front - they're full of traditions which are rather silly.

On a regular basis I crave ice cream.  The only solution is during my lunch hour at school to nip out to Tescos, or find a Local Shop/newsagents.  They generally have a little ice cream freezer.  However, at night I sleep, and only wake up with bizzare cavings for KFC.

I'm not fussed either way about London hosting the Olympics.  It will probably cripple the transport network, and annoy commuters to no end, but it'll just be another notch on the list of "Things Britain Does To Appeal To The International Community".  On the other hand, it's a whole seven years away, and by then I probably won't be hanging around near London and the Olympyics will have a whole different political backdrop.
