Inform 7... So shiny. I'm currently restarting the text adventure I've been slaving away at in Basic using Inform 7. It's very neat...

I've been on the fence about Call of Cthulu, but I think I'll probably go pick it up next paycheck. I mean, if I can get it for like, 25 bucks or whatever, then I'm not too worried.

Oh man... I'm so excited for this. I mean, based on your excellent Ninja School video, I expect nothing but brilliance from Ben the Magic Ghost.

I loved Shadow of the Comet. Also, a few others that are amazing are the Clock Tower series (Especially the first one for SNES) and Haunting Ground (Which is very similar to that series, for PS2).

Star Trek. Just because as bad as some of it is (I'm referring to a lot of Voyager and most of Enterprise), at least Paramount is allowing it's fans access to it, as expensive as the DVD sets may be. With Star Trek, there's no one person who holds sway over the series and can change it at will.

Just imagine how bad it would be if the only versions of the original series availible had updated CGI effects, and shots of Red Shirts shooting first before they died?

Could it be this then?

Nope, CloneKeen only runs the first three Keen games, since the others used a different engine. Still though, very illegal. If I had an account on eBay, I'd report it.

Once again, those are great. They kinda remind me from the foreign camp from "John Carpenter's The Thing", if anyone's seen that movie. I think the flat style is really great, and would love to play a game in that style.

That is hilarious! Brings back so many memories. Especially of how damn hard it was to control that ninja, haha. Man, I used to play Last Ninja all the time on my old Apple IIgs. That was a good computer.

That's awesome! I've got ScummVM on my PSP, but I'd love to be able to play AGS on the go like that. I've always wished and prayed that someday, someone would port AGS to PSP.

...Anyone? Anyone?  ;)

The reason for this?  As ManiacMatt says, their names are repeated all the frigging time!  You can't talk to anyone in Syberia without someone saying "Hello, Kate Walker!" or "Thank you, Kate Walker!" or "Blah blah, Kate Walker!"  That name stuck in my head, but for the wrong reasons.

Definitely agree with you there. I mean, sure we all remember Guybrush Threepwood, but how many times does he say "I'm Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate!" in the series? But what about other characters? Can you remember the name of the guy you free from jail in the first MI?

Repeating something makes you remember it. I've played through all the Sierra and Lucasarts adventures so many times that I can tell you that the blonde guy from the dig is named Brink, and the main character is Boston. Or that Erasmus is the name of the wizard in Quest for Glory 1.

However I can't tell you who the main character of Cirque de Zale is, despite having loved the game. It's because I've only played through it once. 10 years down the road, after I've played through it 3 more times, maybe then I'll be able to tell you.

Their latest scheme doesn't even sound legal. Apparently in some of their newer games, you have to go through a lengthy registration form to play online. All kinds of personal information gets plunked into this thing, then after it's all been uploaded, the game gives you a choice to either pay EA 2 bucks or get spammed by them.

I hate EA.

Although I had an RPG with my own graphics I was/still may be making

Dum dum, da dee da dee da duuuuum! (Zelda Overworld theme)

Very, VERY "Link to the Past" inspired, though I can see it was redrawn and not just ripped.

Haha, I was wondering if my comment would've resulted in a link to that article being posted, and sure enough... EA has a big studio in Vancouver, and they're constantly hiring young anxious developers straight out of our design schools. I can't help but feel bad for the people who study so hard to work for EA, and then realise how badly they're treated.

Aww, the Chewbacca defense. Nothing can beat it. (I love South Park)

General Discussion / Re: Good Idea, Bad Idea

Man, Animaniacs was awesome. Though the only one I can remember from the show was:

Good Idea: Whistling while you work.
Bad Idea: Whistling while you eat.

PS: Who needs a life when you work for a game company.... so overtime isnt that bad ;)

You sound like the perfect EA employee! Hours of overtime with no additional pay!

Nice Dave. They look like SNES sprites or something. The guy shooting his gun reminds me of Flashback a lot, smooth animation and relatively low-detail/small sprite.

An action game in this style would be incredible.

I just went through this whole ordeal about a month ago. I couldn't figure out anyway to change the cursor except one, and it's not much of a solution. Run the game in a window, then when you change your curso, bring your mouse out of the window, then abck in. It should have changed.

Personally, I prefer the DOS version to the windows version anyday, since it runs in the correct resolution (The Windows one is stretched vertically slightly), plus has the nice looking cursors. Also there are a few bugs in the windows version, such as Cassima's responses to what Alexander sends her not playing sometimes.

The DOS version runs great in DOSBox, except for the opening which is slightly flawed. The only reason to play the windows version would be for the hi-res dialog portraits, which clash with the lower-res graphics, in my opinion.

Okay, thinking of some and PMing them.
