General Discussion / Re: Play your own games?
Mon 09/08/2004 18:00:15
I've been currently playing thorugh our AGS Challenge game over and over, trying to kill all the bugs. It's awesome, because I only did music on the game (And some graphics), I don't know the exact walkthrough. Also, all the dialog, wirtten by none other than Dave Gilbert, is brilliant, and new to me.

So I love playing my own game... Even though in the same sense, it's not my own game.

It's being a while since I last saw Jackie Brown and I don't remember much of it, so I didn't include it in my list.

Jackie Brown is AWESOME!! Just as good as Tarantino's othert works, in my opinion. And whenever I hear "Strawberry Letter 22", all I can think of is how extremely long it take Samuel L. Jackson to put on his driving gloves, hahaha.

I haven't seen the Village yet (Though, as a fan of M. Night's previous works, I can't wait to), but as far as Favorite movies go... (In no particular order)

-Forrest Gump
-The Abyss (Special Edition)
-The Empire Strikes Back
-The Big Lebowski
-Phantom of the Paradise
-The Princess Bride

That's all I can think of for now, though I know I'm missing a couple.

Well... It's good that you actually admitted that. Most people, when posting their first game, make up a story on the spot, as not to look like Newbies.

My suggestion is this. Don't worry about posting in the Games in Production forum right now. Work on your game a big bunch. Then, when you've got a solid idea on the plot, and you've finished more than a few rooms, and have something you're proud of showing, then post again in this forum.

The trick, is to wait until you're confident that you'll actually end up releasing your game. Then tell everyone about it.

Well.. Besides the Skip Intro capabilities, I'm pretty sure there's going to be a few more tracks from m0ds. Probably some other little updates too... -M-?

I personally can't wait for Poom Deluxe. Or the eventual Poom 2. The original was one of my favorite AGS games of last year.

Yes, Tuntis, I do believe the rules state that you should have a clear outline of the story somewhere in your post. But it's nice to see that you have a screenshot, at least. You're halfway there!

Critics' Lounge / Re: Ghost sprite - need c&c

Definatley a great sprite! I was able to recognize it right away as a sort-of "friendly" ghost. For his "walking" animations, perhaps have his ghost tail thing float behind him as he moves.

I personally didn't care when Gabriel Knight ended up wearing the exact same white shirt and blu jeans every single day. If Ben Jordan needs to change clothes, I'm sure he will.

Yes!!!!! I loved the first two cases, Grundislav! This is great, I was hoping Ben Jordan would be back for a third case. Any word on how long it'll be yet?

Hmmm, I wonder who sent this... Let's ask evil what he thinks!

...Are "abandonware" links to IDSA copyrighted games allowed here? Even if so, Mephistophilis, what does this have to do with finding a Windows version of QFG 4.5?

Well... Josh...

I must admit, it's very hard to believe that you actually are Josh Mandel. I mean, with no further proof than your word, and the word of a deranged fan who types like a ten-year-old, I'm not keeping my hopes up for this movie.

The main fault I see, is that why would someone who was ON a crew for a movie, come post in an adventure game board which revolves around the making of amateur games, and NOT Space Quest, and why would said crew member post all with caps, and no grammar what so ever? Did you just pick random crew members from a hat?

Perhaps someone can check to see if Space Quest King posted any leaked information on the forums over at speacequest.net or at Wilco's Virtual Broomcloset. Those would be the first places I'd check for leaked Space Quest Movie information.

Until I can see some proof, I have to just file this away as a clever way of trying to maintain a joke on the internet. Not that mantaining jokes on the internet are clever at all.

Drawing from memory here.. Plus it's ASCII, so it's understandable why it's so bad.

Hear hear!

I've practically memorized the URL to the Critic's Lounge due to the numerous times I've linked to it in someone's thread.

I know I'd definatley buy it, if it were commercial! Dave's work is amazing, especially on BoE.

My father still holds the title for "Worst pickup line that actually worked". When he first met my mother, his first words to her, as he stuck his hand out for a hand shake were:

"Hi, I'm Gordy, the weird one here."

It worked, somehow. I mean, I'm proof! I, myself, usually just act naturally. Go up the girl, say hi, introduce yourself. Then we'll get talking to something, and our conversation will usually remind me of a video game or movie quote, which I'll say outloud. When the girl looks confused, I explain to her the source of the quote, and also warn her that I'm a complete geek, so if she doesn't ever want to talk to me ever again, I'd understand. Most girls find that cute.

And plus, if the girl actually gets the obscure quote, then you know she's a keeper!

General Discussion / Re: Are YOU in a band?
Tue 03/08/2004 23:12:41
Yup yup. I actually have TWO gigs coming in the next week. Thing is, they're for two DIFFERENT bands. I have a Jazz combo called "The Freeloaders" (Listen to Miles' Kind of Blue again to see where we took our name), and another Funk/R&B group called "Thruster Bomb". Whoo.

General Discussion / Re: AVP the movie...

I was thinking about it... The PG13 movie doesn't neccesarily mean no gore... It just means no HUMAN gore. As long as the blood isn't red, it can be as messy as it wants. Chest-bursting Predators anyone?  ;)
