Yes, but so was Dynamix, and there was whining about The Adventure Of Willy Beamish earlier in the topic, so I figured I'd point it out.

Say... If Dynamix games aren't allowed, what about Space Quest 5? Wasn't that developed by Dynamix, or did it just use the Dynamix engine.

Gobliiins was Coktel Vision, was it not?

I don't know whether Phantasmagoria 2 was developed in-house (Though without Roberta Williams), but it was at least published by Sierra.

I loved the game. A great sequel that doesn't let down fans of the original. There are a few inconsistancies I noticed though...

Spoiler
Like in the readme, it says that the ship is only a few days into it's assignment when the locker is found. But "Dr. Somerset" syas that the darts in the games room were lost months ago.

Also, at the end, when John Defoe finally rises and starts wandering the ship, what head is he using? The whole purpose of the doctor capturing "Somerset" was for his head, so John Dafoe's new body would be complete.  But you escape with your head. So where does John's head come from?

QuoteIt's Return of the Jedi, not the Revenge of the Jedi, Damn it! Angry

Actually... When the first made the movie, they decided on the title Revenge of the Jedi. There were even posters made with that title on them. There's a rumour circalling that they changed it because revenge wasn't something a Jedi would feel. I personally think it's for another reason.

Around that time, there was another science fiction movie coming out... Star Trek 2: The Revenge of Khan. Now, I figured the producers of the two films realised that they both had Revenge in the title, and changed their names. Star Wars became "Return of the Jedi", and Star Trek became "The Wrath of Khan".

First of all, this is the complete wrong forum to post in. The Critic's Lounge is for posting art that you wish to have C&C on, with the intent on improving your work. That's it. Nothing else should be posted in this forum.

That being said, there is a very large list of good paint programs that people use to make backgrouds and sprites, with alot of the being freeware. You can find the link at the top of the Critic's Lounge, or just clikc here if you're too lazy.

And please, could you read the rules to all the seperate forums before posting again?

Eggie... I hate to burst your bubble, but on DVDs, there's this thing called a Region. Every DVD has a different Region. DVDs from North America (Canada, US) are Region 1. They only play on Canadian, American, and Regionless DVD players. Unless you have a regionless DVD player, buying DVDs here would be pretty useless...

QuoteWilly Wonka was mentioned which is being remade with Johnny Depp. That too will most likely suck.

I don't know. When I first heard about it, I thought it would probably suck, but now I've also heard (Which is confirmed on IMDB) that Tim Burton is directing it. That re-ignited my hope for the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie.

QuoteExample: Blackadder I plants a tree. Blackadder II chops down the tree and makes planks out of it to be used in the floor of a bakery. Blackadder I takes the seed back and Blackadder III can wait underneath the bakery, now turned bank, for the safe to fall down through the floor that isn't there anymore.

Okay Yoke. After we finish our AGS challenge, it's time for us to make a time-travel game together!!

Hey, I was trying to click on the Forum Rules but somehow I got to this topic... I was wondering, have any of you two in this topic read the forum rules yet? They're awesome. I read them all the time... So I don't break them...

QuoteI think interactive fiction is the way to go:

>GET AGENT ORANGE

You get the Agent Orange.

>DROP AGENT ORANGE

Oh man... I'm definatley all over this game. There's so much that could be done with Vietnam in IF form:

>AVOID DRAFT
Your futile attemps to avoid the draft land you in prison.

Or later in the game, when you actually reach vietnam...

>FIND CHARLIE
You search the bushes, but Charlie cannot be found.

>GET POT
You take the dime bag lying on the ground.
>SMOKE POT

QuoteIf you the change the spelling, people will just think you can't spell.

Very true. In my game, the opening involves a flashback to a witch burning in the 1690s, and I researched old transcripts of the salem witch trials to have the dialog right. One thing I noticed was that there were alot of different spellings of words back then, so I incorporated that into the dialog during that scene. Unfortunatley everyone I've showed it to just thinks I'm a terrible speller.

Oh well, hahaha.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Music for RPG
Thu 22/07/2004 17:27:47
Okay, Kinoko. First of all, they both sound very SNES-ish, which I know is the style you were going for.

The first one (Ice Cave) I like alot. It reminded me automatically of "Lunar: The Silver Star", which is my favorite RPG of all time. I felt like any second the screen was going to flash, and a battle would start. Very good dungeon music!

The port town, however, I didn't like as much. With most RPGs, town music is always very upbeat with very minamilistic instrumentation. While the track does remind me of a port, it would be annoying (In my opinion) going through an entire town with this music playing. I think what it needs, is a little less chord building, and a more steady drum track. The first part seems fine, then the "drums" kick in, which is also good, but are quickly lost in a large, three instrumented chord structure.

All in all, a great start. With a bit of work, you could have some pretty good SNES RPG style tracks!

QuoteAre KQ 4 or 5 actually set IN daventry?

No. King's Quest IV takes place in the land of Tamir, as Rosella searches for a magical fruit to save her father, and to save Genesta from her ever weakening powers.

King's Quest V also takes place in another "land". I can't remember the exact name, but at the first I recall that Graham has to fly (With the aid of pixie dust) to it.

Come to think of it, the only KQ games that take place in Daventry are King's Quest I, and the last bit of III. (I think KQVIII might of had some daventry in it as well).

Well... In that case, you have to drive to the nearest Starbucks, and order some latte frappacino expresso coffee milk thing, then drink it outside with your scooter parked near your table, reading  an extremely intellectual book!

Errr... What did I just say?

The "Boring Cafe" is actually the cafe from PQ1VGA, the Wino Willy's is a dead giveaway, and the NBC News building is the parkade from the Police Department in PQ3.

QuoteIt's been a cool movie, maybe the top of this new generation of ultra-extra-mega digital effects (SW I and II, Van Helsing, The extraordinary men league, The Hulk, Daredevil) movies.

That's because of Sam Raimi, who got his start in moviemaking because he loved it, not because he wanted to make good movies. Just look at the first two Evil Dead movies. He made those look amazing with hardly any budget, but he's not tempted to skimp out on plot when he's given a budget (Ex: Army of Darkness).
