Hints & Tips / Re: Two of a kind.....

Beaver X: Have you met anyone around Bluff City that has the power to make things more attractive?

Maybe this person would be able to help make the flower more appealing.

Solution:
Spoiler
Dr. Love in the bar will be able to make your flower more appealing if you do something for him first. Return to the office with only Tiffany and steal Tim's Kiss CD. Give that to Doctor Love, then give him the flower.

Maybe you should read some Calvin and Hobbes, Dilbert, or Garfield before you show all of us anymore of this comic. I'm sure you meant well in making it, but alas these efforts are in vain.  :'(

NOO! Not Garfield! Please, FlukeBluke, do not take inspiration from Garfield! That comic hasn't been even remotely funny for years!!

This thread has done nothing but remind me how sweet Titan A.E. is. Man, that movie rules.

Arigato means thank you in Japanese. Domo Arigato is "Thank you very much". Years of listening to Styx and watching Japanese films (Non-Anime) have taught me that.

Well, I just played the demo, and didn't really like it. Nothing new gamplay wise, in my opinion. Just felt bland.

I'm not against the game, Im just saying that it sucks that:

A) The Sierra name is still being used despite the company being dead.
B) Developers don't put mainstream games on DVD.

Seriously, what was the last FPS you bought that came on a DVD, not including special editions of the game?

Are you serious? People who were into sierra's adventure game period got wiser after the last King's Quest game or something. Nobody will guy a game because it will have the sierra name on it thinking it will be an adventure game, or even good for that matter.

One of the last games Ken Williams was interested in when he was CEO of Sierra was an unknown game by a small company called Valve. The game was called Half-Life. Last I checked, it had the Sierra name on it. And I think the sequel did too.

"So, there's a new First Person Shooter coming out, and it has the name Sierra on it! Didn't Half-Life 2 have that name on it? Man, this is probably just like Half-Life 2!"

Sierra name being used to sell the game.

when was the name not used to sell games?

THe name's always been used to sell games. But back in the 80s and early 90s, the games were actually made by people who worked for a company named Sierra. So they were called Sierra games. Now games are produced by smaller companies, then published by Vivendi Universal who bought out Sierra, and every so-often they'll slap the "Sierra" name on it. The game has nothing to do with the old company, but people will recognize the name, and buy the game.

So the name is being used to sell the game, and for nothing else. The game isn't affiliated with "Sierra" in anyway, and therefore shouldn't be called a Sierra game.

It's a new FPS from Sierra and Monolith.

Sierra's dead. They've been dead for years. It annoys me so much when the name is used to sell games.

Oh god.. Heart of China.. possibly the worst game ever.

I never played Heart of China, but Rise of the Dargon, which was in the same vein, was really good in my opinion. Plus, the Sega CD (Mega CD) version had full speech.

Hahaha, I recognize that work... Looks like Dave's been doing paintovers of my original Tim sprite for ToaK, hahaha.

Looks good though. I don't think anyone would recognize him except the guy who drew the base.

I used to have walkthroughs of all the old Sierra and Lucasarts games photocopied in a huge folder, so almost all of the older games I used walkthroughs for. Nowadays, I try my hardest to beat every adventure game I get without a walkthrough, they include:

Return to Mysterious Island
Still Life

And I'm working on Syberia and Moment of Silence right now. Though I might cheat on MoS because I've spent 3 days being stuck, and I think it's just a pixel-hunting thing I'm missing.

Mods has done soundtrack's for Fatman, Perils of Poom, etc... Good composer, he's what originally made me want to get into AGS music composing.

Some great backgrounds you've got there, and the character concept art is looking pretty spiffy as well. I'm sure the game will turn out great.

The Naga though... As soon as I saw it, I couldn't help but think of that one character from G.I. Joe... What was his name, the Cobra-la guy... Golobulus, that was his name.

I couldn't find a picture from the cartoon, but there's his figure.

Quote from: Pumaman on Fri 29/07/2005 17:26:44But quite frankly, I lived on my own for a year or so, and it was the most boring thing ever. It's all too easy to just slump on the sofa and watch TV all night when there's nobody around to talk to, and then you realise you've just wasted a month and accomplished nothing.

So that's why AGS takes so long to get updated  ;)

Seriously though, Kinoko, I'm sure you'll survive. Living by yourself can be awkward at first, but nothing's impossible to get used to.

As for being away from your fiancee, the distance isn't that bad with the internet. I had a girlfriend for 8 months that lived a province over from me (Roughly 20 hour drive), so we only were able to see each other twice during those 8 months. But instant messengers and webcams (I remember you talking about those in another topic) really make you feel like you're still together.

You'll start a new routine, trust me. Instead of coming home and looking forward to seeing your fiancee, you'll come home and look forward to logging onto the computer to talk to your fiancee.

Am I the only one who saw the name of the game Pennis and thought that it would be a candidate for this year's P3N15 award?

I'm also one who thinks the third film was much better than the first two. When I watch the movies, I don't expect the books. If I wanted the books, I'd read them (Which I have, all 6). But the fact of the matter is that film is an entirely different medium, and there's going to be changes.

A perfect example of this, in my opinion, would be the first LOTR movie. I don't think it was as good as the other two because it tried to put TOO much of the original book in it. There was so much information trying to be crammed in the film, that the whole thing felt rushed. Yet if you just take some things out, it allows you to pace a film better.

Read books if you like books. Watch movies if you like movies. But don't watch a movie based on a book, then throw a hissy fit because a couple things got cut out.
