Looks real good! And yes, the characters look almost identical to the ones from Another World (or Out of this World, as it's known on some systems).
#542
I noticed that Donut World bug too. Good game though. Love the voices, but of course, I'm stuck. I'm not going to ask for help though, I'm figuring this one out ALL ON MY OWN. MWHAHAHAHA!
#543
Whoops, put Geoffkahn instead of Peter thomas in that last post. So yeah...

Peter Thomas, YOU have permission to start the next tune contest, XP

Well, all the entries were brilliant... So I thought I'd comment on them ALL!

Cave where all the bodies are stashed:
This reminds me very much of Pleurghburg! Definatley the music that would fit the best as a background song in an adventure game.

Majik of the cave:
A very fil-score, epic peice. I love the different movements, and the segways into them are flawless.

Cave of the Groove Monster:
Oooh, time to lay down the funk! Could the monster be perhaps Dr. Funkenstein, as sung about by George Clinton? I love the 12-Bar blues progression and this one doesn't fail to please. Sounds like something my funk band, Thruster Bomb, would play.

Happy Hobo's Cave:
Definatley brings out imagery of the artic, and of an ancient civilization. Good stuff!

Cave's Wonders:
Love the ending, and the piano part. When it kicks into that harmony... Oooh, goosebumps.

The decision has been long and hard, with many a winding turn... But I've decided who one the battle in my mind. The entry that came out on top was...

Majik of the Cave!!!

With it's moving peices, and very movie-like qualities, I thought this should be the explorers theme for the cave. Or at least the overture. Now... Who to direct the film... Spielburg?

Oh and Peter Thomas, you now have permission to begin the next Tune contest! Hopefully I'll have the time to enter it!

Commentaries were the reason I bought a DVD player, once of the reasons I own 600+ DVDs, and one of the main reasons I want to play Adventures of Fatman so bad.

I just finished downloading it (From eMule, so I have the entire CD), now just to get the sound to work...

Beginners' Technical Questions / Sound Issues!
Fri 16/01/2004 01:45:56
Okay, now this is the problem...

I'm having trouble with sound while PLAYING AGS games. I've noticed ALOT of games have had crackling sounds during midi music, and the voices/soundeffects have been WAY louder than the music. They too, crackle horrendously.

At first, it only seemed to happen in some games. Games like AGDI's two KQ remakes, Pleurghburg, etc... All workerd perfectly. But I just finished downloading the ISO of Adv. of Fatman, and the music is crackling like crazy, and the voices are even worse.

Now I know with the quality of this game, they wouldn't release it in this state. What can I do to fix this problem? My soundcard is a Sound Blaster Live Value.

I've tried messing with the options in the config, and also tried turning up the MIDI balance in my Play Control, but as soon as I close it, the MIDI balance goes back down again.

Another notes that may help to solving the problem: I'm using Windows 98 2nd edition.

Thanks in advance, I *REALLY* want to play this great game!

Big Brother: BRILLIANT!

Once I finish all my sprites for the intro, and Klitos, our programmer, can remove the place holder sprites, maybe we'll post a few screenshots ^_-

Just get a copy of eDonkey/eMule/Overnet etc... It's alot better for downloading large files, like full games and the what-not.

Yes, the copy of Fatman is an ISO (In Bin/Cue format) which means when burned, will be an exact copy of the original disc. Which means... PIZZA QUEST!
#550
A cue file is easy. You don't even have to download one to burn a cd, just write it in notepad, or get a good bruner (Like Nero, what I use) to make on for ya. I used to brun Sega CD games all the time, and they used seperate ISO and audio tracks as well. I became the MASTER of the cue sheet. Mwhahahahaha!

Errm... Can't wait to play this. Around 200 mB done now... Only 44 or something to go!
#551
86.78 Mbs of it downloaded from eDonkey right now...  can't wait to play this game, it looks so excellent!!
#552
QuoteSorry, no, there's got to be a more efficient way than that.

Well, there really isn't. Not until SCI Studio 4 is released anyway. So if you're REALLY dedicated to making your game, you'll do it this way. I've had to do this for quite a few animations as only REFERENCE for the game I'm working on right now.

Believe me, it makes it VERY rewarding.

Yes Peter, strings are their own instument. As much as it would be nice to hear a 6-8 part string section, the song is still only 4 instruments. That doesn't stop you from having different harmonies in one instrument though.  EX: You could have one violin playing a C, Eb, and a G (Making a Cminor triad).

Loominus: I thought the size rules would be apparent already, but I'll change them. Any format that is common (MP3, Midi, OGG etc...) as long as it's under 1.5 Mb.
#554
Ooooh! <Runs to his copy>
#555
Damien: Yeah, it should be. <Changes Topic>

Peter Thomas: Go ahead. You can have harmonies on the same instrument. Just nothing too big. I don't want elaborate 16-part harmonies or anything. Try to stick to 3 or 4.
#556
Okay, here's the latest tune contest! Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is:

Write a score chronicalling the adventures of these three men through the cave they are entering.

Requirments are that you use only 4 instruments of your choosing, plus any sort of percussion you wish. Size restrictments is that the song must be in any common format (Mp3, Midi, OGG etc...) but can't be more than 1.5 Mb. The more epic and moving song, the better! I'm looking forward to hearing all the entries.
#558
Whoah, I won! Sweet! Aherm...

I'd like to thank my parents, for always beli-

Oh um... Thanks Damien, and everyone who entered! I'll defintaley enter the next contest... Or do I start it (Ala Sprite Jam)?
#559
I can download it just fine... I just don't want to play it withought the voices, and extra features on the disc. I would've loved to have bought this when it was still available. Hopefully someone will make an ISO of it, and post it on an ftp or something. I would love for that to happen. If I ever get a copy of an ISO, I'll make sure you guys know how to EXACTLY how to get it.

I know the frustration of trying to find rare games.
