Inserting the line "C:\IAMJODOKAST.EXE" into your autoexec.bat will allow some new options to be integrated into AGS... I took a screenshot to prove it!

WOW!!! I was not prepared for how funky that was. That was SOOOOOOO AWESOME.

Okay... Okay... I'm going to take a stab at trying to figure out what you mean. So you're on Sierra-Style talking... Do you want to display something in Lucasarts style now? Or perhaps you want to change the picture of someone in the Sierra-Style....

You need to find Matthew's diary. It's somewhere in his room... Check everywhere, you should be able to fnd it quick enough. Now read everything you can. This should allow you to start looking for his body.

I don't know if I'm understanding the situation correctly, but here's how I'd do it...

Once the character rings the bell I'd add the code to put the second character into the room, then.

MoveCharacterBlocking (2ndchara, 152, 142, 0);
DisplaySpeech (2ndchara, "Blah blah blah");

I don't know if you want to have control while the 2nd character moves to his destination, in which case, listen to these people, use hotspots or regions.

Okay... This is an easy thing to do.

What you need to do is create a custom GUI with the text you want and the Yes and No buttons. Now assign each button to Run Script. Now in the script for the Yes button, add your Display () code to display whatever messages you want. Then start the game as normal (NewRoom maybe?). On the No button script, don't add the Display () code, and continue with the game.

Now for the sake of this, lets say your GUI with the yes and no buttons is GUI number 3. To make it appear after clivking Start Game, just add

GUIOn (3);

That should work! Good luck with your game.

First off, talk to everyone in the house. They usually give you clues as of what to do next. Then, go up to the library. Try reading eveything, sometimes you can read things that you coudn't before. Try searching places you've just recently unlocked... Maybe you missed something you were supposed to find.

...I'm trying to be as subtle as possible here. If you still can't figure out what to do, post again and I'll help you more bluntly.

Vel: Well... I'm not even done all the things I wanted in the demo, which is about 1/5 of the game... So We're looking at, if all goes well... A summer 2004 release?

Everglaze: The graphics only look friendly during the daytime ^_- Once nightfall hits, it'll be very moody and atmospheric...   ;D

Edit the top post. The demo's ben postponed, don't know whether I'll actually release a demo, or just wait for the entire thing ot be finished. Even if I choose the second option, Betatesters will still get their demo to betatest, since I don't want to leave them out of the loop ;)

Well, yeah, 47's my main character. And like I didn't say, my game's not nearly close to a quarter done, so yeah, alot more from where that came from!

Wow!! This game is looking awesome! I love the art style (I think I might have said that in the previous thread too), but it looks as if you're getting better and better! The game looks like a blast to play already, I can't wait for it to get done!

When I was in the IF community, there was only one! It was brilliant though...

Anyway, more on topic...

I agree with the whole "IF is a book, GA is a movie" statement, which why I'm trying my hardest to make my game enjoyable graphically. There's too many games which have little to no animations done, because the creators just get lazy. If AGS games aren't going to use the fact that they have graphics at their disposal, they should just write IF!

Oh, and I just counted. In my game so far, my character has 47 unique frames of animation. And my game can be completed in 10 minutes. It's gonna be awesome one it's done!

It loks pretty good, but it seems to me like the chara is walking a couple steps, then stopping, then walking a couple more, etc... I think I've found the source of the problem:

For 3 frames in a row (7, 8 and 1), the character's left leg stays in the exact upright position. I'm not quite sure how rigid this character walks, but when I walk casually, my leg usually doesn't stay in an upright position for more than a split second, let alone three frames. His right leg also does this, but not as badly, since the three frames are split up (frames 2, 4 and 5).

Scorpiorus: Thanks alot, that helped. Now I'm having another problem though.

The dialog picture I've imported has the character facing right. Now when the dialog picture is on the left side, this is fine... Unfortunatley, when the dialog picture is on the right, it still faces right. I figured, that besides adding "swap_portrait = 2" before messages in which I want the picture to appear on the right, I'd change the character's talking view to a different view in which the dialog picture is flipped to face left. But this didn't work! The picture still faces right! Why is that?

I don't want to upload another dialog picture in which the character is facing right because the dialog pictures do take up alot of space.

Is there anyway to make the portrait swapped for both characters? The action in the scene is on the left side, and half of the dialog completely covers the characters!

I've found an artist, yes. But as of right now, he's only doing dialog pictures. So if you want, you can still try to draw a title screen. For now, just try drawing the main character (Jon Rutherford) pictured in the top post.
