I created a new game using the FOA template (of the file FOAtemplate_v12.rar) with AGS 2.6, then I try to compile it and test it right away.
I get the first screen (with the DamianArts logo) and right after that, when it should go into the next screen, the game stops and I get this error mesagge:

---------------------------
Illegal exception
---------------------------
An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x0041DE7A ; program pointer is +333, ACI version 2.60.693, gtags (0,36)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech forum.

Most versions of Windows allow you to press Ctrl+C now to copy this entire message to the clipboard for easy reporting.

I think you lost too much detail in the coloured version. The sketch looks great!

Yep, I feel the same way...
The skecth is great, but I think the colored version lost some of the 3D feeling, the perspective...

Could anyone please post some screenshots?

I realized I was getting "old" when I saw a SimCity2000 on an Abandonware site the other day...
Man, I remember like if it was yesterday the first time I played that game.

Well, there's always the ALL CAPS method... ;)

I don't think I'll use it soon, but I think letting you use bolds and italics (or, more generally, different fonts) in the same message it's a good a idea and always a nice thing to have.

Tierra Entertaiment is using AGS to make a VGA version of Quest for Glory 2 (you may want to check their website http://www.tierraentertainment.com/ ), that shows that adventure-RPG games can be done with AGS.
I believe that even full RPG games can be done in AGS, you just need to learn to use well the script system.

Really nice.  ;D

I found interesting the aproach you use to implement  predefined actions.

Just one suggestion, add keyboard control, for example, if you press "p" you select "Pick up", if you press "t" you select "Talk to", etc.

Thanks a lot!

Awesome man!
I can't wait to play that game.

I had to do something similar and I didn't use the on_event function at all, I just add a bit of code into the repeatedly_execute function that does the appropiate checks and then enables or disables the scroll arrows.

Hope that helps you.
Ask if you want me to be more specific.

I have WinXP too and I've never had that problem.

The link ain't working  :(

Ooops, didn't read the "copy, paste" part of your message, sorry.  :-[

Sorry.

BTW,  nice art, but it's too dark, I can barely see a thing on my screen.

2nd looks good to me, but remember, you could always do a translation file  ;) (I bet that would look weird: caveman-to-english translation ;D).

I also like the idea of SuperScottishHero, maybe in some situations (probably when Urugh gets mad because noone understands him) he would say stuff in a very sofisticated english, that would be so funny.

I don't think that any blue will work for the first color, it surely has to be match exactly (i.e. it has to have the right amount of Red, Green and Blue).

The easiest solution to that problem is making the region of any color, importing them to AGS and then using the room editor's fill tool to replace each of the colors you used with the ones availables in the room editor.

Of course that may not be the most effective solution, but I think it may let work until someones tells us exactly wich colors to use (I feel I'll also be needing that info soon :)).

I'm not sure if this will help, but I think you should make the cloud a character instead of an object, remember that characters are room independent.
