What happened to Quest for Infamy, Blackthorne? :(

Quest For Infamy got to be too big of a project for us to work on.  We had great intentions 7 years ago, but didn't have the experience to do it.  So we worked on remaking King's Quest III to gain experience and learn how to make a game.  We did that, and started our Space Quest 2 remake shortly after we finished KQIII, all while hemming and hawing about QFI.  With Space Quest 2 ending up taking us longer that we wanted - life got in the way.  A lot of us got married, had kids - my kidneys failed again and I went back on dialysis..... life got in the way.

Ultimately, we decided that we just didn't have the time to make QFI the way we wanted; not making it in our free time as a free release too.  I always say we could do it, if we got a budget.... and sold the final product.  (And we wrote a version that is completely free of QFG-properties)

Typical story; big ambition, but when we got into it - realized it's a lot harder to do than you think.

I've looked at the most recent build of Hero6 - there's a lot done, and a lot of it looks really nice!  But the story is a mess.... disjointed and it doesn't flow well.... There's a lot of good ideas in there, just poorly placed.... it could be a great game, though.

I think the problem was the freeness of the development.  There was never a clear leader or a clear vision..... too many cooks spoiling the pot, so to say.

I'd love to see the game completed.  If one had the patience and time, they could go through the source and make a workable game out of what they have.

I hope someone does!

I'm married, and I love my wife.  I love women.  They're awesome.

However, as a gender, they can sometimes be..... to put it professionally, Nuckin' Futs.  Often they rule with impulse and emotion, and can make strange demands - like to give back any and all gifts given over a series of years.

You're completely entitled to tell her no, or if you're so inclined, utterly destroy the gifts, and return the rubble to her.

Now, don't let this one crazy girl turn you off to women.  When you meet the right one, one's who's got JUST as much crazy as you do, it's magic and it's great.  It's tricky, but they do come along.... often when you're not looking.  I met my wife a few months after a horrible breakup with a girlfriend of two years.  I was totally not looking, and not into love at all and it found me.  So, it happens.  Good luck.

Simulation or not, this universe is here and we're in it.  So I'm going to stop wondering about it's nature and have a taco, because at least I know THAT is delicious.

You know, I always think you can bend the rules of lighting for dramatic effect - though there may not be any "natural" sources of light that would throw up those shadows on Graham, as a dramatic effect - it can work.  Often in films and stage plays, the lighting scheme is changed to show a change in situation or emotion - often without a "real world" reason.

I believe you pronounce his name "Ooh-veh Bowl".

His movies suck, yeah.  But I don't get the seething hate.  I think he's rather funny.

This is one of the best stories I've ever read on these forums!  What an awesome job - and an awesome prize.  Never under estimate the power of waffles.  Especially free ones.

Hey there.

Whew.  Man, this game has been in production for quite a long time.  Sorry about that - doing this stuff in your spare time, well, heh - sometimes you just don't have as much spare time as you'd like!

But we're really pushing ahead to finish up the last final details - killing bugs, polishing some art, finishing the audio.... we're working hard to get this out ASAP.

So, here's a few more teaser pics - and to let you know, the project is alive and well!  We've got new members working on it and they're eager as hell, which is awesome.

I hope all you fans of Space Quest (and Sierra games in general) like the game when we finally finish it!

As always, for more info, check out our website - http://www.infamous-adventures.com - we try to update on the forums frequently.

Isn't a Pub Master someone who can drink 10 pints and not fall down?

What the hell does "pub" in Pub Master Quest even mean anyway?

On a sequel to Warthogs?????
Oooh, that would be fun. Sooo many books there to parodize :)

Larry Lotter and the Deathly Half-Blood Prisoner in the Phoenix's Secret Stone Goblet!

Seriously, man!  Get on it!  Warthogs was awesome.

Okay, with five so very different opinions on this game, I really have no choice but to download it and check it out.

Now where did I leave that spare time of mine?

On a sequel to Warthogs?????

Really?  I found the graphics and art to be great, but I find the story cliched, contrived and shallow.

Engine Development / Re: AGS Wii Port?
Thu 19/08/2010 09:50:43
I know this is some thread necromancy, but I didn't want to start another AGS port to Wii thread when there was this one already.

I would love to see an AGS port for the Wii - I think many of us here have some fantastic games and the Wii market would be a great place for a lot of people, both new gamers and old ones alike, to play some fantastic games.

Did anything ever come of Scotch's attempt?

The answer is simple. It's the same color as in 'Maniac Mansion Deluxe'. We just got used to it.  8)

This game is going to MM Deluxe's ass! LucasFan has nothing on you!

This statement is humourous.

Nope.  He didn't ask IA if he could use our SQ2 background.

But I'll take this announcement as "asking" and say yeah, we're fine with it.  Better to encourage people to make games than to slam them down, I always say.

Just feel free to send me a message next time and ask.  I could probably provide you with a better quality image.

General Discussion / Re: Organ Donation
Sun 14/02/2010 06:47:42
I'm on Kidney Dialysis, currently.  I have stage 5 End Stage Renal Disease, which means my kidneys are completely dead and I need a transplant or I spend the rest of my life on dialysis.  Dialysis sucks.  It drains the life out of me, and though it keeps me alive, sometimes I wish the quality of time I spend alive was better quality time.

I spend my days, waiting on the Organ Donation List - hoping that someday, a match for me will come in.  I don't have the luxury of sitting around saying "I'd deny an organ transplant" which is an easy thing to say when you don't require one.  Try saying that when you're offered the ultimatum of getting a transplant or accepting a quick imminent death.

I appreciate all who are Organ Donors - it's not an easy decision, and it's kind of morbid.  But I really feel strongly that it must be a CHOICE that the person chooses to give.  I wouldn't want anyone, dead or alive, to be forced into a decision that makes them uncomfortable.

Just remember, though, there are people out there waiting for organs.  Decent people, who have had bad luck.  Guys like you, who love adventure games and enjoy making them.  It's not always some useless degenerate who needs an organ, and honestly, with the hoops they make you jump through to get approved for the list (at least in America) most people waiting for organs are well prepared to care for them.  And they do requre a lot of care; one does not just get an organ stuffed in them and that is that.  You spend a lot of time visiting doctors offices, having checkups and taking a lot of required anti-rejection drugs everyday.  It's not some miracle cure, but it is a better form a treatment.  And often, it really is a gift - a gift of a better quality of life.

Hey!  These are great.  I worked on the King's Quest III remake, so I know how much fun it is to do this.  Your work looks amazing!  I love it!  I hope you continue on.
