HOW SOON? WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASES? WHEN? PLEASE TELL US!

Well, I don't have an EXACT date for you, but I can tell you that the testing is wrapping up, and we're able to play the game through without any major bugs - so one can start it and finish it with no game stopping errors.  We're still cracking the nit-picks, but believe me - it'll be soon.

Dude, I'd give you $25 bucks NOT to sell it, man.  You'll regret it.  Trust me.

It is really cool, Blackthorne :) I had never met a stranger who was already aware of my games or my internet existence as Gord10.
Just only some people who I meet in some local internet site meetings (like deviantArt meetings in my own city) did know about me, and it really feels cool, but it is not what the topic is about.

Actually Gord, the other day I was cruising a "Silent Hill" forum.  A friend of mine recently loaned me Silent Hill 2 for the PS2, and I was checking out some of their walkthroughs - and who did I see in "users online"?

Cool-Blue-Gord10.

I was like, heh, I know that guy!  He's an AGSer!

Hey.  The guy's a tool.  His punishment is having to live with himself.

That sounds coool, Blackthorne! Bet it's most trippy when that happens, but I bet you get a very warm feeling insideÃ,  ;D The only similar experience to that was when we met Ron Gilbert, a few of the people there I didn't know had heard of Fountain of Youth - which was nice.

At a 2005 new years party, I was stumbling around a random house & a chick came up to me and said, "Are you Mark Lovegrove?" and I said "Yes" to which she said "Ohh my good! You're a media legend!!!!!" - that was strange but warming :P Something to do with seeing my stuff in my old school media rooms or something hehehe.

Heh.  That's awesome.  There's just something surreal, however, when someone says to you in real life "Oh, you're Blackthorne?"  I mean, I don't think I've EVER even said that name outloud.  It's always been words on a screen to me.  I was totally surprised.  I mean, I often find people that know of adventure games, but rarely people who know of AGS.

So, last week I was at a local bar for a friend's birthday.  Amdist the beer and conversation, I began talking with my friend's co-worker.  We got to talking about what we did and I mentioned that I'd been making a game.

I tried to explain what I was doing...

"Well, we're remaking an old Sierra game.  Ever heard of King's Quest III?"

"Yeah!  I had that when I was a kid."

"Yeah, well - we're remaking it in the style of the later King's Quest games..."

"Oh, like V and VI?"

"Yeah, totally."

"You using AGS?"

I cracked up.  It's not often in my life that I get asked that!  Turns out the guy new exactly what I was using, and who I was by my net-handle (Blackthorne.)  Trust me, it's weird when a complete stranger says "Oh, wow... you're Blackthorne?  I visit your site."

Anyone else have experiences like this?

During a follow up surgery after my kidney transplant, something went wrong.

The transplanted kidney was damaged, and it stopped functioning.  Instead of taking me off liquids (which my body could not process, due to no functioning kidneys) - I began to swell with massive edmea.  Before they could rectify the problem, the sutures that held my stomach closed (from the top of my belly button to just above the pubis) ripped open, and a section of my intestine fell out.  While I was concious.

It's weird to look at your own guts.

But, they managed to save me - and partially salvage the kidney.  It works, but not optimaly.  I'll have to have another transplant eventually.

I have been playing this around three times a day for the last week. A little repetitive even at only 1.33 minutes, but still funny enough and I think slightly hypnotic.

Oh, and PARENTAL ADVISORY for foul-ish language :D

I have to say this was the most boring piece of shit I've seen.  And I've been using the internet for over 12 years.

I bet it was Flukeblake!

If it was Flukeblake, I'll eat my shoe!

Hopefully the forums will be restored tomorrow.  Which sucks, because it's put a bit of a stall on our beta-testing.  I can say the testing was going well - and I really can't wait to release this soon!

This is probably the most amazingly funny clip I've seen in a long time.  I'm just amazed by this kid's sustained amount of anger and cursing. (In German, I believe)

Interesting fact about Yufster:

She got me into "The Scissor Sisters" because of a weird song competition thread a while back.

Plus, she is so hot, she once cooked a raw plate of bacon I left sitting by the computer.

I have to say I'm surprised.  I always looked forward to Rui's writings, his wit and wisdom.  I've used several of his modules and visted Skimbleshanks many times.

This is an AGS member worth having around.  It's a shame.

Okay - the beta testing application period has ended.  I want to thank all who applied for a position - we got a lot of applications!  If you applied, you'll get a response to let you know whether or not you will be testing the game.

As for the rest who may be curious, this means the game is close to being released.  I know I personally have had a great time working on the game, learning many things along the way - AGS programming, art, animation - it's been a challenge, but I think we're going to have a really fun game for people to play.

Thanks to all who supported us - and I encourage anyone who wants to make a game with AGS to go for it - pursue it with tenacity, zest and conviction.  If you work hard enough, study enough and don't die in the process - you'll have a fun time making a game.

I hope our end product is something people will enjoy.  I know I've enjoyed making (and playing it as we progressed in the programming) it.

Blackthorn, I agree with what you say if it was just customers and the business owner. When you get employees involved, then you have to think of them also.

Well if it's up to the owners, then the risk is implied in said buisness.  Just as an arc welder or construction foreman knows the risks inherent in their jobs.  If you work at a place designed to cater to smokers, the conditions are a factor in you choosing the workplace to apply to.

I live in New York, where there's been a smoking ban for a couple of years now.

I think it really should be up to the individual owners of such establishments to set the rules.  If you want a business that caters to smokers, of which there are an (apathetic) lot of, you should be able to.

It's nice to have a choice - in both directions.

Just in response to something TIS said back there (Sorry, I'm too lazy to type your whole name out ^_^ and yet not so lazy to give a disclaimer about it!), I'm a smart, intelligent geek with so much personality it HURTS. But I love being sexy, I love being objectified sometimes, and I like objectifying others sometimes. I'm not a bimbo who only does things like shop for shoes and put on make-up (though I do both those things sometimes).

I wish I could objectify someone's brains out right now :/

EDIT: HA! What an appropriate turn of phrase.

I'm sure a whole platoon of geeks objectified you after Cirque de Zale!

The plugin isn't quite what I need, you're right - but it's a damn fine plugin.  I'll definitely find a use for that in another game.

Again, thanks for all the input guys.

Okay - is there a way I can make it "PAN" over to the new room instead of just instantly changing?
