General Discussion / Re: NES or SNES?

I still own both my old systems, but rather than lug them out, I often find myself using ZSNES or Nesticle.

Your pics look awesome.  Very Sierra-ish, very good!  Bravo.

there was, wasn't there? Yiddle or Yaddle or something. But I don't think he/she said anything.

Yaddle, it was.  Weird looking bad puppet in Phantom Menace, she was.

Did anyone else think the Yoda puppet in Phantom Menace blew ass, by the way?  I like the digital Yoda much better.

I wish there were other aliens of the same race as Yoda in Star Wars so we can see if they all speak funny.

Too much into this, you think.

Hello!

I'm in need of a painter to paint in some hand-drawn scanned backgrounds for our King's Quest III project.  If you are interested, PM me and from there I can work out more details about the work.  This project is near completion, and this work is part of our finishing touches.  If you enjoy Sierra VGA style games, and would like to help out, please send me a PM.

Perhaps final resting proof that Lucas is completely bonkers, I present to you...

Lifeday - The Star Wars Holiday Special.

Warning: This may be the worst thing you'll ever watch.

It was the 70's, man!

Largo,

The roger sprites looks like a great take on SQ3's Roger Sprite.  The SQIII Roger sprite still had a very AGI feel to it, as compared to the later SCI games.

If I was to remake SQ3, I would use the Roger Sprite for SQ1VGA or SQ4VGA, edited slightly.

But, however, commenting on your sprite, I love the way it looks.

QuoteAfter the hard disk failure that caused me to lose my years worth of work on my Quest For Glory game, I began a brand new project.

I love posts that begin with this sort of disclaimer/proclamation!

Nevertheless, the premise of the games sounds interesting!  I laud your efforts, and wish you luck on the project!

This discussion seems to come up a couple times a year and, usually, the conclusion is the same: Try to avoid adult language in a forum that's frequented by younger people.

Yeah, it does come up a couple times a year, and I'm not advocating a free for all filth fest around here - what I'd like is that if someone has a problem with it, they talk to the person directly, before running off like a little prat to a mod. Ã, Sometimes I don't think people have the scrot to speak to someone if they have a problem. Ã, Clearly stated in the forum rules, it says to PM someone first before running to a MOD. Ã, I think that's fair.

(Also, I'm not saying the mods here are in anyway Nazi-ish, to use a popular description; the mods here are very good, and fair and I was contacted rather pleasently by them. Ã, I just have a problem with the class snitch running to the teacher without talking to the offender first. Ã, If you had PM'd me and I told you to swallow my salty sailors, THEN maybe a mod should be involved.)

Quote from: SnarkyHaving identified the "fuck" in question, I think it was completely appropriate. Bt's post was a well-deserved kick in the arse to a bunch of whining nay-sayers.
Thanks - I just felt like a pack of wolves had descended upon the poor kid who was embarking quite finely on a project.

Here's another big complaint I have about making people afraid to swear. "F-bomb" is like nails on a chalkboard for me. It's got to be the stupidest word ever created. No offense to you, Blackthorn... I'm just saying that I can't stand it :P I prefer f*ck or even "the F-word" any day of the week.

Oh, me too.Ã,  In fact, I find most euphemism for curse words to be abhorrent.Ã,  But, however, as my casual usage of the slang word "to copulate" is offending someones sensibilities, I'm not using it currently.

It appears that the offending use of the word occured in the "games in production" section, as I see - I try to keep my swearing to this forum, but a certain thread in there was full of vultures, unfairly swooping in on someone.  I got angry; I used some angry words.  It happens.

I see, my casual dropping of the f-bomb.  Got it.  I've been very good lately.

Whoever complained still hasn't had the courage to come forward and PM me personally about it.

Again, I say there CAN be productive members who are young.  They are a rare find, but I don't want to deny opportunities to a mature kid who just wants to learn.

Yeah,

I don't think this movie was the holy grail or anything, but I was entertained.  Star Wars films have entertained me since I was born!  But this was the last film.  Now I can go on being obsessed with something new.  Like maybe girls or something.

Yeah, I toss out an occasional F-Bomb, and I understand that we like to keep it "all-ages" around here, but in the general forum here, I find in the discussions it's mostly us young adults here talking.  I didn't think I was going overboard; I was informed (and rather politely at that by a mod) that there had been some complaints.

It's not a big deal, per se, and I'm not angry.  I just wish that if someone had a complaint, they could come to me first.  Or in a similar situation, deal with the person directly.

Oh, and can I say that I love the people on this board!!!

Hey hey,

It has just come to my attention that some of my dirtier language around here has upset a few people.  For that, I apologize - it's how I express myself at times, and no one had ever taken the time to PM me and talk about it, until a MOD did.  Now, I'm gonna quote something here.

Quote9. If you have a problem with someone, send them an instant message and tell them to stop whatever it is that's causing your lack-of-sleep. If the problem persists, see a moderator or Chris Jones.

That's from the forum rules.  Please, if something I do offends you - PM me first, don't go running to a Moderator.  I don't like it when I feel I cannot confront and talk to somone who takes offence.  I'll be reasonable, but I'd like the opportunity to speak for myself.

Get your tubes tied. Or learn to take the pill.  It's a lot easier to take pills everyday than you think.  When I got my transplant and they told me "You have to take pills everyday" my first thought was "Oh fuck...." now it's easy.

But, if you're not going to have children, and he'll get a vasectomy - do it.  Or get your tubes tied.

Or go porno and tell 'em to pull out.

Let me take this moment to point out the Member EINOO - he is very young. Ã, Read some of his posts, one that comes to mind is his recent post about Star Wars Episode III. Ã, It is extremely well written, has a sense of humour and maturity beyond his years.

Yes, there are young people who can strive for better things. Ã, I think Einoo is a shining example of our younger generation. Ã,

I liked the analogy I read earlier about "going over to someone's house, jumping on their furniture and demaning pie." Ã, That's a good way to put it. Ã, If you don't like the rules here, go to another forum. Ã, The internet is full of them. Ã, If you truly wish to learn more about AGS and it's inner machinations, I suggest you develop a certain amount of decorum.

They really don't ask much here - post mature, make sure it's funny (or helpful - and in DG's case it's NEITHER!!!!!!!!!) and, I like this one, don't pretend to me a MOD. Though some of us established folks are trying to help, I've seen people come off as smarmy.
Seriously, Flukebuke, take a cue from Einoo. Ã, It can be done by someone your age. Ã,

I've been know to play an arpeggio or two.

EDIT:  Okay, so I recorded this with a built in mic on a computer, using Sound Recorder!  I'm so high tech.  I just grabbed an acoustic that was sitting around.

Blackthorne squeezin' strings.

He's making a point-and-click SQ3.  He hopes to have improved graphics someday, but for now he's using 640x400 versions of the originals.

If you don't like it, don't play it.  If you don't like what he's doing, remake it yourself.  Otherwise, shut up.  Seriously.
