Blackthorne, are you saying that characters should never be taken at face value (ie, what the writer WROTE) but rather at some meta-character and meta-story level which includes the author's point? If not, I don't follow. If so, I disagree. A story is a story. While some stories have double meanings and deeper messages, every story should also be able to be taken at face value.

Nah, I'm just saying the Ann Rice is full of uber-romantic shit, in the guise of being classy or "deep".  I mean, Mmenoch the Devil and The Vampire Armand sucked ass.

One thing about The Vampire Chronicles male "love"....  people get into the mechanics of "deeper" love and all that crap, but the simple fact of the matter is that they are merely characters created by a woman - a human bound to it's own examples and feelings towards love.  Their sex is entirely inconsequential; it's merely a representation of Rice's feelings about relationships and attatchment.

I would have prefered to see what would have happened to Lucas if he directed Apocalypse Now as he intended instead of following the Star Wars path.

Well, I know that Kurtz would have had the highest midichlorian count the US Army had ever seen.

Larry Kasdan writes great dialogue.

Lucas writes good stories, not great screenplays.  I can agree that the dialogue is stilted in the prequels.

Guy: Uh, Sir, the idea of using dialogue to mock people and spread lies andÃ,  propaganda has spread. At least two people are now doing it.
Tim Burton: Excellent! Recruit them immediately.
BLACKTHORNE: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
CONT: Shut the fuck up, you lame brained Andy Kaufman looking freak!  Get Psychonauts and be quiet!
BLACKTHORNE: Loved your version of "I Want To Break Free" too.....
CONT: You're pathetic.

(If there's one thing I've learned from the Internet, it's that anytime someone accuses a scriptwriter of not having read the books, they turn out to be wrong.)

They're doing an ADAPTATION!  Of course they have to read the books!  Do you think they just sit in a room like this.....

PRODUCER:  Well, see - there's this guy, who knows this other guy who's an Alien......
SCREENWRITER:  Okay, okay.  What are their names?
PRODUCER: Oh, shit.... uh, Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect.
SCREENWRITER:  Oh, can I rename them Zap Westinghouse and Porsche Ferarri.  Those sound hotter.
PRODUCER: I dunno, let me as the PA down the hall - he's got enough zits that I'm sure he's read the novel....
SCREENWRITER: There's a NOVEL of this idea?  Brilliant!
PRODUCER:  I know.  The cross promotion is gonna be great.

--------

Seriously, it's not like their given a list of characters, and told what "sorta" happens, and then they run amok with a word processor.

Also, the couch is so wrong.

Why is the back-supporting part wider or at least as wide than the part where people can sit on?

Why does arm support blend into back-supporting part?

It all looks like bizarre geometrical puzzle.

MC Escher made a CAREER out of that!

Good news for me then! I'm not a fan boy and I think the new movies suck!

Oh, that's okay.  I'm just talkin' about the assholes who have SEEN the prequels about 100 times a piece, and still complain about them while they fondle their Puzz-3D bust of Jar-Jar binks.  It's okay to loathe the films; It just reminds me of the Comic Book Guy on The Simpsons...... "Worst movie ever.... I'll only see it 32 more times......"

Well.... not in the stores, perhaps.   ;D
Thank god for techno-savvy friends.

I always saw EP I as set 32 years before EP IV - Vader is maybe 40-42 when A New Hope Begins.

...Anyhoo, I saw Constantine last night...

And how was Constantine anyway? it looks fairly interesting, but it will be strange to Reeves in a movie where he might have some dialouge thats more then 3 line or: "what do I do? how will I know?Ã,  choice..."Ã,  and of course "woah!"

C.

Constantine was okay.  Reeves was his typical self, though there were a few points in which he showed SOME kind of emotion.

It was the usual melding of The Occult, Theology, Christian Mythlogy and Action Flick.
Kind of like "The Exorcist" meets "Hellboy" meets "The Matrix".   I did dig Shia LaBeouf in it, and Rachel Weisz is always beautiful.  It's entertainment, nothing more.

I really am frightened by 15 year olds carrying knives, thats just wrong to me.

How about the gun he tried to kill himself with? 15 year olds with guns scares me more.

And if this really happend, surely it would hit the news? How about giving us an article?

True, you know the American Lung Associan would have blamed PG-13 films with "smoking" in them on this transgression of violence between youths.

I'm actually much more excited about his stop-motion Nightmare Before Christmas follow-up "The Corpse Bride"

Dear sweet lord........ a follow-up to The Nightmare Before Christmas....... holy christ..... WHY?  DEAR GOD WHY?  That's almost as appaling as "Pooh's Heffalump Movie".....

Anyhoo, I saw Constantine last night, and the Hitch-hiker's trailer ran before it.  The audience loved it - and I gotta say, on the big screen, it seems impressive.  Should be funny, and a blast.

Well,  I feel like a club-goin' girl here, but I did the Jager-bombs.

Basically, you fill a pint glass half-full with RED BULL, then pour a shot of Jagermeister.  Drop the shotglass of Jager in the RED BULL and drink it down quickly.

I also enjoy Gin and Tonic.  But mostly, I'm drinking Labatt Blue Light.  It's a beer from Canada that's rather popular here in Upstate New York.

As far as non-alcoholic drinks, I love me some Coca-Cola from time to time.  Code Red Mountain Dew if I'm feeling in the mood for Sugar.  I love Grape soda, I dunno why.  I also like Strawberry Flavoured Milk.  Hmm.... I like tea, too.  I drink an immense amount of tea for an American.  Everyone here drinks (bad) coffee.

Ya know, I think I just like fluids.

See, I don't buy into the canon of the EU at all, so none of that matters to me.

I've been entertained by Episodes I & II.  I still love the OT better, but I've been entertained.  That's all that matters.

What doesn't "entertain" me is
a) I can't get the original release OT on DVD
b) Fan-Boys who love to proclaim the Prequel Trilogy "Teh Suck"

Untrue. There's no reason why you can't start a sentence with "And".

True, true.  One can begin sentences with "And" in dialogue, but in prose, it just looks damn sloppy.

Anyhoo, I thought Yufster's dialogue was funny, and LGM is jealous of her boobs.
