Yeah, from what I understand, the game has been completed in Italian - it just needs to be translated, which has been started.  It'll get done; I know we're all impatient, cause Sam and Max just kicks so much ass....... but good things are worth waiting for, and don't worry - LucasArts won't cancel this one........

Pixel,

Great looking graphics.  I hope the story is as immersive as your graphics.  Have you made the actual sprites yet?

I'll be watching this one.

Tanker,

Aside from your spelling errors, sprite usage permissions and other controversies, this doens't sound like a  bad first game from a young author.  Just remember, KISS.  Keep It Simple, Stupid.  It's good advice.  Don't make the game too big or too long.

Good luck with this, and keep practicing.  The old adage, practice makes perfect, is a damn fine saying.

Cheers,

10. Long Distance Rounaround - YES
      - Just some incredible guitar playing, great counterpoint between the three instruments of Guitar, Keys and Bass.....
9.   Love Lies Bleeding/Funeral For A Friend - Elton John
      - This epic off of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is one of the greatest pieces of rock music ever written.  If anyone ever doubts that Elton John is a genius, they need to listen to this.
8.   When The Levee Breaks - Led Zepplin
     - No drums on any rock song have ever sounded better.  What a mix.  Put it on in stereo, and watch it swirl around you!
7.   The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway - Genesis
     - Prog rock greatness
6.   Billy Breathes - Phish
     - The end coda to this song is the most beautiful piece of music ever written.  It makes me cry.  It is the finest thing ever recorded by this band, and the pinnacle of their career, which to me, is more than just a bunch of stupid potheads following them around.
5.   When The Circus Comes To Town - Los Lobos
    - Possibly the saddest song ever written.  Makes me weep, and think of everything I ever did wrong in my life.
4.   Voodoo Chile - Jimi Hendrix/Stevie Ray Vaughn
     - Mysticism channeled through six-strings.  Unreal.  Both versions have such dark power to them, it's captivated me for years.
3.   Hells Bells - AC/DC
     - Best opening riff to a song, EVER!  Anytime I plug in my electric guitar, I gotta wail this one out.
2.   Bitches Brew - Miles Davis
     - Okay, this ENTIRE ALBUM is just crazy, and a great example of what the 20th century can accomplish in terms of crazy music.  Sometimes words aren't needed, and people forget that.  Lyrics are far too often a crutch for the simpleminded to lean on.  "Anything that is too stupid to be said is sung....." - Voltaire
1.   Dogs - Pink Floyd
      - Stop.  Do Not Pass Go, leave your home and buy Pink Floyd's 1977 album, ANIMALS, if you do not already own it.  If you don't like Pink Floyd at all, don't worry, you can listen to your Justin Timberlake and be happy.  BUT if you like Floyd and all you know is Dark Side and The Wall or Wish You Were Here - GET ANIMALS.  It is their greatest album of the seventies.

Yeah, I hope it's a fake.  Who knows.  I still think he should release the original trilogy on DVD.  Lord knows pirates are doing it already.  He could make MORE money this way!

i'd recommend repeatedly walking like this and then working on the legs first, then the body and then the arms and do the cape last

Good idea Eric.  So when you finish with that, please let me know.  I don't know if I can wait that two hours..... hehe  ;D

Seriously, though - good idea.  I think I'll work on it that way.  I didn't really animate the arms much, just changed the shading as he walks.

Just a quick update

We should have a demo soon of the game in the coming weeks; we're beta-testing the demo now. (If anyone who would like to do a qualified beta-test, PM me.Ã,  Serious inquires only, because if you just want to play it, you might just want to wait for the finished demo.Ã,  We're working out bugs and such!)

We have decided to use digital music in the game, and it sounds really great in my opinion.Ã,  We have SoupAngel to thank for that.Ã,  He's very talented.

Any other questions, feel free to visit our webpage and forums.

ALSO:  We're using photos of people to help create dialogue pics for the game; if you would be interested in having a role in the game, PM me.  We'd need a headshot pic and such.  There's more info on our website.

AND a little animated gif preview of one of the backgrounds

and here's a test animated gif for the Portraits.  This is only a test; the actual game animation will (hopefully!) be better!

All I have to say is, WHY GEORGE, WHY??????????

Well, here's my guy, going for a low-res Sierra Style - walking holding a sword in kind of a fight mode.Ã,  I drew only five frames so far, and then arranged and repeated them after running the first five in a row.Ã,  He kinda looks like he's cha-cha-cha-ing!Ã,  Any suggestions as I go on?

Enlarged!!!

Igor,

Thanks!  The perspective is really what's killing me! Heh.  I have an idea, you know - but sometimes the execution just doesn't turn out the way your mind imagines in!  It'll keep on working, and give it another go.  I'll post another image soon.

Ozwalled,

Cool suggestions!  I'll try and make some for the next edit too.

Thanks again, all - I mean this is really great, and what I love about the critics lounge, when it's working!!  Helping refine ideas is what I try to accomplish here.

Now that said, someone make me 24 sprites to inhabit this room.  I'll check back in two hours, if there are none, I'll pout and cry.   ;D

So, does anyone have any ideas for the staircase in this pic?  Or any other ideas as to what should decorate the saloon?]

Those are very nice paintover; I assume Indiana Jones and Sophia..... I think it's cool to use them as basis; it helps you develop your own style later, and get a feel for how animation and characters work.  I used paintovers quite a bit myself; by studying them, I picked up on how animators do what they do.

I like the black and white scheme.  It'll be nice to see some more artwork.

Uh, so did you work on your game, or did you give up?
#854
The noise could be from JPEG-ification, but mostly it's the effect I was going for - to look a little pixel-ized and noisy.

Andail, maybe you could show me what you mean, maybe with a quick sketch or something. I'd really like to make a good background here, so I'm constantly revising.

Oh please.Ã,  14 year-old boys and girls are so hormonally charged they contaminate the air with testosterone and estrogen.Ã,  The vast majority of people Evil's age aren't lucky enough to be "smooth with the ladies."Ã,  Adolescence is a time of sexual awkwardness, confusion, frustration, and downright anger.Ã,  Gord is a down-to-earth adolescent.Ã,  What he needs is not advice from a "ladies' man" like Evil, but other down-to-earth people who've been there before and have good ideas on how to deal with the situation.

Migs, I agree with you about 14 year old boys, but I think everyone's opinions on love and dating are valid, even if they're wrong or haven't had the experience older folks have.

And By The Way, yeah, I HAVE made out with a couch. I'm not ashamed, but slightly embarresed.

Nobody likes the fat dude though... I think. I've got some strange hints at school, but I couldn't gather the courage to ask "what do you mean" or anything. Bah, I'm moving to a new school this autumn. I'll probably never see her again ever... ever... ever... ever... ever... ever... ever...... *SIGH*

Dude,
I'm a big dude myself, and last year, I had a strange thing.  I dated a really hot girl, I mean - she was really into me.  And you know what?!?!!?!!?

It sucked.

She was mentally obsessive over everthing I did, good and bad, she lacked self-confidence, and I've had more fun making out with a couch than her.  So, on both sides of the cube, looks aren't everything, and if you're a cool person, someone digs you.

Hey guys, thanks!  This is great.  I just checked the thread, and I'm going to be using your help as I progress.

Here's what I worked on today, before I checked the thread.

This is basic, without much editing and such, but ideas for decorating the saloon/bar would be cool.  I like the idea of a curving staircase.... and I want a piano in it too.  It needs tables, and some kind of light.  I think I'm going to make a candle chandelier for it.  Anything else, though?  I made the actual bar kinda quick today.... so keep the suggestions coming, it's good to see them.

Hello!

Okay, so I've got this background.

Now I'd like to create the interior to it, using this kind of perspective that I tried to make some idea screens with.  This perspective gives me trouble, as you'll see by my unfinished and horrendous stairs!!!!! But basically, I'd like to create a weird Saloon-type place, with a bar, some tables, and a stair case to a second level.

So, before I progress on, I'd like to get some ideas and help from some of you out there, who are good at these things.
Any other questions let me know, paintovers or demos would be cool too.

Well, AGS came to me in an acid induced dream, in which I, while sitting in the desert eating peyote with Jim Morrison, had a revelation, and I wandered to the nearest internet oasis, upon where AGS was presented to me, engraved upon the golden scrolls of Moroni.

Actually, I can't remember how I found it; probably some abandonware site had a link; I've been using AGS for years now.  The first version I had was in DOS, though.  ROOMEDIT....

Man, I saw Justin play in Rochester, NY last year.  He's really good, sounds just like his recordings live.

If you like this stuff, you should check out Keller Williams.  I don't have a link, but a google search should be easy enough.
